Jep the Sea God 5 July 14, 2013 Share July 14, 2013 Do my parents know I'm a brony? Well, I should think so! They always end up either having to go somewhere else or watch it with me on Saturday mornings when the show's airing new episodes. We have a "first come, first serve" rule for Saturday morning TV....Let's just say it's the one day of the week that I actually get up without hassle for you know what i am the same way an i am always the first one on the tv in the morning an i love it my brother don't like the show at first but after a few episode he started to like them man im good lol i contral water an talk to fish....eeyeah created sig and avatar by kyoshi
Sylentmana 271 July 16, 2013 Share July 16, 2013 I don't live with my parents anymore so I've never felt the need to tell them. Besides, my parents looked at me like I was dying when they found out I bought a Saber (from Fate/Stay Night) figure. No need to repeat that uncomfortable moment again. In space, no one can hear you squee!
pjsforever 89 July 16, 2013 Share July 16, 2013 (edited) Yeah, but it was mostly my younger brother's fault. I told him about ponies and I wanted someone to talk about them to, and with the help of his brony friend he did watch the show but wasn't as involved as I was. He ended up mentioning some of the characters when my parents were around and he started teasing me about that he told my parents, so I flipped out. I was mortified at the thought that he'd told them (since I don't share my interests much with my parents, and I'm weirdly secretive about a lot of my interests anyway) since they wouldn't know how good the show actually is and would think that we were just into some typical brainless show for little girls. So I approached my mom about it and talked to her about the show and how it was different from other cartoons for little girls. Turns out my brother didn't tell my parents. So basically without wanting to I let her know. >.> Of course, now my dad knows too. Both of them think it's all right, but my dad doesn't get it, or doesn't want to I'm totally fine with it. Starlight24 8 July 17, 2013 Share July 17, 2013 No and I don't want them to know. My mother would ground me for the rest of my life... and my after life. My mom does not approve of me seeing "little girl" things.
Dark Horn 430 July 17, 2013 Share July 17, 2013 @Starlight: That's pretty sad. Are you sure they would do such a thing? Even my parents aren't that silly. Everyone has the freedom to like what they want to. Luna the Great of all the Russias 2,983 July 17, 2013 Share July 17, 2013 My parents have seen me watch episodes and fanmade pony related content, but I'm not sure if they're actually aware of the existence of the Brony fandom. So I suppose they don't have an opinion. Pony Art Thread Brony since ~25 July of 2011.
Arretez 225 July 17, 2013 Share July 17, 2013 My parents know that I'm a Brony. They like to make jokes, such as "Get your little pony ass moving." I know that it's all in good fun though. Even though they don't really like me being a Brony, they sacrificed their weekend to take me to a pony convention about a month ago. My parents are so awesome
John 793 July 17, 2013 Share July 17, 2013 Lol hell no. That would be so humiliating! Even though my parents are pretty cool and wouldn't really care too much. my mom would be all like: "How old are you?" my dad's a hipster, so he would think its weird at first but then be all like w/e. MichaelxXxTrixie 433 July 17, 2013 Share July 17, 2013 Yes and no, they don't know about the term, "Brony." All they know is that I like MLP and they really don't care. I'd suspect my dad to have some concern but as I've grown a bit later into my teens my dad realized that he can't control what I like and don't like. They even occasionally surprise me with some merch which is always nice. Thanks to the lovely Pink Mist for the magnificent signature!
NicCageIsBestPony 0 July 17, 2013 Share July 17, 2013 My mom knows that I'm a ''brony,'' and doesn't really care, but my dad doesn't. My dad is the type of person that would probably look down upon it, because of ''how gay it seems.'' I don't have any plans to tell him, but I'm sure he'll eventually find out. He can be very shallow sometimes.
Red End 16 October 5, 2013 Share October 5, 2013 NO. And I will NEVER tell them about it. It would be so akward! My mother has seen some pics of MLP on my pc (I have a rainbow dash theme on chrome, for example), but I don't think the cares that much about it. And I would never ever tell it to my father. Never. Ever.
Venomshank 121 October 5, 2013 Share October 5, 2013 My brony experience is odd. My parents are split up. My home is with mom. every other weekend I go to my dads. Mom hates it. She hates me to bring it up, calls me gay as a joke, it of course doesn't bother me, I know she has the same sense of humour as me, cynical and sarcastic. Dad is pretty much a brony. He doesn't watch the show regularly, but he does have an eidetic memory, and thy can pull names and references. He bought me a rainbow dash t-shirt, and has plans to get me a plush for christmas. It's weird. Just an everyday guy, doing everyday things.http://askelectrondaydream.tumblr.com/
Fire Bomb 121 October 5, 2013 Share October 5, 2013 my parents found out, i needed a new wallet so i decided to buy the derpy hooves wallet that hot topic sells. my parents found out then. I'm a bomb. . . made of fire. So I bomb things. . . with fire. . . and do nothing else NOTHING!
Suitaloo 743 October 5, 2013 Share October 5, 2013 Yeah, my dad's neutral on it, yet my mom doesn't like me going out in brony shirts, which I find is kind of ridiculous because the entire point in buying them is to show other possible bronies out there that I'm one as well. My family does know about it, but some take it better than others. I use pokemon showdown because I can't afford a 2DS :c
SomariFeyWright 776 October 5, 2013 Share October 5, 2013 I've said this on other threads before, but I am an open book when it comes to my fandoms. I don't have any shame in liking the things I like. Heck, before I even became a brony, and was in the middle of watching the very first episode, I was asked what I was watching that day. "Oh, it's My Little Pony" "What? Isn't that for little girls?" "Actually, this show isn't that bad." I love MLP, and there isn't anyone who knows me that doesn't know it. MJDudeK 226 October 5, 2013 Share October 5, 2013 No, my parents don't know I'm a Brony and I'll tell you why; My Mom passed away in 2007, way before MLP:FiM even aired, and I haven't told my dad because it wouldn't mean anything to him anyway so I thought, whats the point. I don't really see my Dad too much anymore anyway but telling him wouldn't bother me, it's not like it's some big Pandora's Box I'm afraid to open, it's just that I guarantee my dad has never heard of the show let alone know what a Brony is So I just don't see that coming up in regular conversation with him. Rainbowcrash420 109 October 7, 2013 Share October 7, 2013 I know my mom knows because she always acts confused when me and my brother discuss. it. Like we will be eating dinner and me and my brother will be in a indepth discussion about cards or episodes and she will be like what are you guys talking about? Then Ill explain and she just says oh my god.....I dont know if my dad knows i have pony stickers and stuff everywere he probably thinks its a stoner thing or something. 1 Rainbow dash is cool
Bojo 1,172 October 7, 2013 Share October 7, 2013 (edited) They don't need to know... and I'm sure that if they find out, they won't care that much xD I once told my mom about bronies and stuff and said to her I liked the show and she was like... "uuuuuuhmmmmm... oooooookay, soooo... what do you want for lunch?" xD I don't care much about it anyway :I Yep, but they think I watch the generation they had as kids. Hypnodash 18 October 10, 2013 Share October 10, 2013 I am pretty much a guy who runs around with a pony shirt almost everyday. So there is pretty much no use hiding my Brony identity. My parents are very tolerant people so they pretty much accept me for who i am.
