I have never had the chance to finish Castlevania 3: Dracula's Curse. I never had the time. I'm gonna try finishing it this summer.

I never got to finish that game of Monopoly I was playing with my friend D:

The games I've never got around to finishing:

  • Halo 4 - Disappointed in this game. I never had much fun with multiplayer, forge, etc., and I avoid shooter campaigns, as they're incredibly boring.
  • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 - Hated the whole game; I don't know why.
  • Fable 3 - While I hated MW3, it was still a good game (granted it's a copy n' paste, but that doesn't matter), this game is horrible.
  • Grand Theft Auto 4 - Doesn't give me the motivation to finish the campaign that Red Dead Redemption did; the campaign is just boring.
  • Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - I have done all the questlines, all the DLC quests, all Daedric Quests, etc., and I feel like I've done most of the minor side quests. However, there is still probably a couple more I haven't seen before. I love this game to death.

P.S About the Skyrim blurb - I've played through that game 10+ times, I think. Mainly because wherever I am, I found out I messed up at this one part, and I have to go all the way back to that point to fix it, and do everything over again. Still love the game.

Torchlight 1 and 2... Don't know why. I just stopped for some reason.

LoZ Skyward Sword. I may love the gameplay, but I haven't finished it for some reason. Again, I don't know why.

Skyrim... Never finished the main storyline... Even though I have 100 in most skills -.-

Kingdom hearts 1. Fun game, but I prefer the second game :3

That's all I can think of atm...

Oh boy, do I have a long list or what.

Golden Sun 2: The Lost Age (Currently trying again)

Final Fantasy VI (Also currently trying again)

Grand Theft Auto IV - Never could finish the very last mission.

Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones - I don't know. It just suddenly got boring.

Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess - I just suddenly quit half-way
Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword - Same reason.
Final Fantasy IX - Was unable to get past a certain boss near the end and I didn't want to start to level up.
Kingdom Hearts - Chain of Memories - Was unable to get past Rikku at one point.
Riviera - The Promised Land - I don't remember why not.
Yggdra Union: We'll Never Fight Alone - I'm not sure. Maybe it got too hard real fast.
Trauma Center: Under the Knife - Got stuck on one mission
Trauma Center: Under the Knife 2 - Same reason
Puzzle Quest - Way too repetitive and boring
Advance Wars: Days of Ruin - Got stuck on last mission
Final Fantasy Tactics Advance - Got too repetitive and annoying
Pokémon Ranger - Couldn't capture a specific Pokémon
L.A. Noire - Simply because this game nothing but a poor GTA clone with interrogation. Got bored.
Star Wars: Empire At War - I can't get past the first mission on either side.
Warcraft III - Couldn't get past a certain orc mission.
The entire Heroes of Might & Magic series - Same reason on all games.

*takes a very very deep breath* ... That's all I can think of right now.

Get through the unknown like your life depended on it.

Actually it's more common that I get a game and never beat it. Lol. Typically I get to the boss fight and end up losing and am eventually like "I've gone through the game, I'm fine."

Megaman 2. I got to the beginning of Dr. Wiley's castle, to the dragon, but I wasn't able to beat him. I haven't really played the game since.

Donkey Kong Country 2. I could never really beat the 3rd or 4th world. Haven't played that game in a while either.

I guess I have problems with sequels to games.

The only one I can be bothered to write remember is Pokemon White 2. Now, don't get me wrong, it's a great game, I just can't really be bothered to finish it. Last time I played I spent 2 hours running around Castelia City doing nothing. I'm boring like that. wink.png

Any Zelda game, mainly Ocarina of Time. Seriously, I have owned that game at least 5 different times and not once have I finished it. I always lose motivation at the Shadow Temple for some odd reason. huh.png I will fix this with the 3DS version. I am also playing Link's Awakening currently, just started basically. I will finish that too. Final Fantasy games are also on this list for me. It is usually because I will start one, get pretty far, then take a long break for whatever, then I completely forget where I am at or what I am doing.

Two of the greatest gaming series and I never seem to finish the games. Stupid is me. dry.png

Grand Theft Auto is another one, actually. I never finish those either.......Make that three of the greatest.

What I've never got around to finishing:

FF X-2. I kept getting stuck at that rhythm note thing before Vegnagun.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. Kept getting stuck on the chess boards.

Spongebob Squarepants: Revenge of the Flying Dutchman. Never got to the Dutchman's Graveyard because I got lost at the Chum World part.

Naruto: Uzumaki Chronicles. I got bored part way through the story, so I decided to ditch the game.

The only game I've not gotten around to finish.... It must be Skyrim. I advanced until the part where you gotta kill a dragon with some weird woman or something and then you find Alduin and he talks to you and all that stuff... I kinda lost motivation because, well, it just seemed like a gargantuan game with a gargantuan story. I may get around to finishing it soon, now that I think of it.

MW3, I enjoyed the multiplayer just never got the time to finish it. Also I didn't finish Battle Front 3, fun game just never had the time xD.

I'll just say one thing: The campaign is SHORT.

But, I never got around to completing Fallout: New Vegas, I kinda got a little stuck and never went to get out of the mudhole.

As well as Skyrim: I would never have time. That game is so LONG. (400 hours, PROFESSIONAL)

Halo 4- I was dissapointed by the Multiplayer, but I never really got around to the campaign.

There are a million and one games (obvious hyperbole is obvious) that I never finish regardless of how much I like it. My main problem is that my gaming whims are fickle as all get out and I will constantly switch games even if I've never finished them. There are also a lot of games I don't finish because I don't wanna deal with the BS of grinding or get to a difficult part and just don't wanna deal with that or anything after it. I find myself willing to put up with less and less BS as time goes by in games so I either take the easy way out, play on easy mode period or just stop playing the game and I may or may not ever get back to them. (Demon's/Dark Souls and Odin Sphere come to mind)

Usually how much I like a game does not contribute to whether I finish a game or not. I have the skill to do a lot of things but I don't have a lot of patience or tolerance for difficulty above my levels and I definitelyhate repetition if I don't feel like I'm doing any better each time which basically means I'm never getting past it unless I devote all my time to it and I refuse to do that for the sake of beating a game.

To me, beating a game is irrelevant. The fun is in the journey, the actual time I spend playing it. If I never beat a game I'm usually quite okay with that.

That said, these are a few games that I have left alone and may never get back to:

Odin Sphere (previously mentioned): I got stuck on a boss with one of the wizards in Mercedes' story and though I know what to do (I have to hit the swords he summons back at him....and it's total BS to try to do when you're also being hounded by powerful enemies) I just don't care to put up with the BS required to do it. I had already spent several hours getting stuck on the final bosses of the stories for the other characters and if this was the easiest of the wizard fights....I'm screwed. I love the game, I love it's mechanics and it's story and it's artstyle........but I will never beat it because of this and potential future battles that will be even harder.

Demon's/Dark Souls: These games are just all wrong for me. I enjoy a lot of the things they do but there's a lot that annoys me too (like the lack of a pause button. Yeah, I don't care if it's intentional design I do not like this feature at all.) I absolutely adore their sense of level/enemy design and they really know how to make gameplay feel like it MEANS something....but I can't stand going back forty minutes away from an area/boss if I die. That's forty minutes of enemies, traps and obstacles that I'll have to redo at least five times usually. I got to the Crystal Caverns at least. I'm told that Seathe is the last of the bosses you wanna deal with so I went to the Catacombs....had the same amount of issues there. Yeah no. As for Demon's Souls....stupid Maneaters. Though with my newly acquired knowledge of how the game's mechanics work thanks to a friend who guided me as I played Dark Souls I might be able to do better now but I'm not really ready to jump in again for mostly the same reasons I'm not going back to Dark Souls. No amount of good design will ever make me want to put up with the BS of dying constantly.

Star Ocean: The Last Hope: I'm actually at the final boss of this game and most of the reason I haven't gone back to it is my unwillingness to farm for materials to get better equipment. The only thing really holding me back is the fact that I can take roughly 40k off of him.......and then he heals for 65k. Meaning I cannot defeat him as I am. Someday I might actually go back to this, especially being a fan of Star Ocean, but not any time soon.

Resident Evil: Code Veronica X: Same reasons for the most part as the Souls series. I don't enjoy redoing things and unlike the Souls series I do not enjoy many of the design choices regardless of if they are intentional or not. I do not like tank controls with fixed camera angles (to clarify, because some people seem to confuse the issue: I'm speaking strictly of the combination of the two, not one or the other. I can deal with them separately easily, it's the combination that I hate with a passion. Especially in games like the early Tomb Raiders where I actually feel it's detrimental to the experience and makes it even harder to play than it ever should be....even if they had to due to hardware limitations. Being spoiled by the sexy controls in the new Tomb Raider doesn't help though.) I also cannot stand the way enemies are controlled, how you can't shake them off if they grab you and come out with no damage being done to you. Never really have this problem with Silent Hill though because they aren't nearly as restrictive.

Ultimately a lot of the reasons I don't go back to a lot of games is difficulty or design choices that create difficulty. I'm of the firm belief that difficulty and the ability to lose are not ever required in a video game. In fact, I personally wish more games had some sort of super easy or god mode for those of us who just wanna play the game. This feeling is amplified by the fact that I just beat Persona 4 on Beginner Mode where they gave me a million and one ways to stay alive even on the off chance that enemies/bosses actually killed me. After beating it and getting the true ending I'm convinced that if it weren't for the Moon Tsukibame item that basically acts as a Soma that activates when you die I would have lost to that boss and not gone back for a long time. I play video games to play them, I do not enjoy challenge and I do not enjoy dying and don't believe either of those is required to either beat or utilize any of it's systems.

This is a bit of a side rant but think of this: If there was never a health bar, never a way to die.....would that honestly change ANY game ever? I don't think so. Every single game would still have it's own systems that you can learn to be good at, that you can use to have the best possible route through the game. The ability to lose in a game does not actually fuel one's need to be the best at something if they wish to be. Not a single game would be any different without a health bar or time limit, the only thing it would do is make it so those of us who do not have the skill to beat something can still beat it and play it without being stuck doing the same thing for all eternity.

But alas, I am a very, very small minority on this subject and I probably play video games more than most people. Nearly every waking moment is spent playing a game when I'm not at work. It's pretty much my one and only true passion in life.

When I was 12 I got Metal Gear Soild The Twin Snakes, It was fun until I got to the part where I had to find meryl.

I spent hours walking back a fourth trying to find where she was untill I gave up.

Then when I 17 I decided to go back to it and see If could finally beat the game and I did and I'm glad I did because MGS TS is a amazing game. So now I have to beat every game that I play regardless what happens

P.S. You find meryl in Womens Restroom, I dont know why I didnt figured it out earlier blink.png

Rule number 1 of any Metal Gear Solid: If you don't know what to do, use the Codex. If you call certain people multiple times they'll just straight up tell you what to do, breaking the fourth wall in doing so. In the case of Meryl in the bathroom they tell you to watch the guards and see if any of them walk differently than the rest. That's in the original though, I never played the Twin Snakes so they might've done it differently in that one.

I always used to skip the Codex scenes when I was younger, then I stared to listen to them when I was older laugh.png

There's a reason why that game was rated M tongue.png

The one and only game that I never got the chance to finish was pikmin 1 for the GCN (new play control for the wii). I was around day 26-30 at a Final Trial stage. After saving from clearing the obstacles and paths, My whole army got wiped out by emperor bulbax and got me killed and then restarted or rolled back to my last save.

Lol. I totally understand that! I don't think I beat OOT until 2009, even though I had owned the game - multiple times - since around 2001. And it was very much because of the Shadow Temple. I'd do everything else, including Spirit Temple, but Shadow Temple was just too creepy for me. I also had to turn down the volume to go through Dodongo's Cavern because it scared me. xD

Nothing in that game scares me anymore, but it took years. And I still can't stand the sand prison dungeon in Twilight Princess.

Alright. I guess I can contribute... My memory's a bit wonky, so give me a moment...

  • Pokemon Ruby: First game I ever got - to this day I still haven't finished it. (Well, to be fair, I did kind of lose it a long time ago...)
  • Pokemon Firered: Same as above. However, the copy was also in spanish... Which, by the way, was a major offender to me because I was FINALLY learning english.
  • Scooby Doo: Mystery Mayhem (GBA): I count it in as well even though its badly received. When I was a kid I had some fun with this one. I got stuck at the technological part.
  • Spyro - Year of the Dragon: I did beat it, but I was also aiming at a 100%, which I never got around to do. The disc is also damaged, meaning that I will never be able to finish it.
  • The Legend of Spyro: I actually thought this game was fun, except from the "serious" storyline, and the characters... I got stuck at a later level because I couldn't kill the enemies (no seriously, some of the latter enemies have ridiculous HP.
  • Pokemon Collosseum: I got stuck at the white tower collosseum/somewhere before the white tower. I plan on replaying the game sooner or later... But only if I manage to get my hands on a link cable and a GBA... Honestly, the Pokemon limitation in the game is a bad design choice.
  • Ratchet and Clank 2: I really love the PS2 trilogy (beat 1 and 3). Since I haven't played the PS3 installments yet, I really can't say anything about it. Anyhow, this is another case of flat out terribleness on my part.
  • Sly 3 - (and one of its many titles): I loved Sly 2, and I beat it. The game was really fun. Sly 3 was also fun, heck, at parts I enjoyed it even more. However, for some reason I lost interest.
  • Sly Cooper and the Thievious Raccoonus: I lost interest in the game. Why? Well, there is that submarine section in the first world. I had a lot of trouble with that. When I did get around beating it, the game glitched up and remained in the level... I didn't touch the game since then. And besides, I didn't enjoy it as much as I did with Sly 2 + 3.
  • Spyro Season of Fire/Ice: Don't ask me. They're just boring games.
  • Paper Mario 2: Lost interest at around the moon... which is a shame because this game was quite good.

Now, there are more, but I just can't be bothered to continue. However, there is one that deserves mention.

Animal Crossing

Yeah. That much I suck at gaming... I can't even beat that game.

Who needs signatures?

Final Fantasy 6 & 8 - 6 I made it all the way to the final battle and couldn't beat it, someone made off with 8 before I could get past the second disc. :(

Kingdom Hearts - I got stuck somewhere and gave up after a while

Prototype - I'm no good at sneaking, ever.  So, I usually played free play and destroyed things until I was bored.

Left 4 Dead 2 - Holy hardness, Batman!  I can barely get past the first mission on single player, and it usually glitches us to death when my roommate and I play mp.

Portal - There is one spot where I always get stuck and keep getting killed by energy balls to the face, need to try that one again.

  • 4 weeks later...
Don't Starve, Steam:

Hard. Very hard. I just physically cant complete this. Survival / resource management  games like that are not my forte.

Generally, you never finish survival games. You just play as long as you can.

I never got a chance to finish Spider-Man the Movie the Video Game for PS2 to this day, I didn't finish it.

Since my PS2 is obsolete, I guess I can't play it ever!

...So why can't you play it?

Me, I don't buy games and not finish them. The few exceptions are ones that just got boring or annoying, like Pokemon.

Fallout 3

This game is incredibly hard, I can't complete it. (but I can complete Fallout: NV :l )

Battlefield: Bad Company 1 and 2

The campaigns just really bore me. But the multiplayer is fun.

James Bond: Blood Stone

Completely unfair gameplay, it's too hard :v

All the Half-Life games

I don't see why people get so excited about these games, they're astoundingly boring.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

I always end up getting bored with the main quests and go around exploring and killing enemies. (though I can easily complete Skyrim)
