@@Fluttershutter, I don't know about that...After I get back from a trip or sometimes just from work, my dog will jump up on the futon and wait for me to come pet her.  She then jumps up and puts one paw on each of my shoulders and dives her head against my chest.  I do believe she is hugging me.  It is unbelievably one of the cutest things ever!!

actually ive hugged an actual pony so id say it was nice at the time i was more concerned that the pony was eating my shirt but it was nice and fluffy

In my headcannon ponies are not really furry. They might have a short, velvety fuzz, sorta peach-like, but nothing much more, it's mostly soft, squishy skin, and yes, hooves are also soft and squishy, even Big Mac's hooves, they are just shaped like that. But yea, they are very warm, dry, soft and squishy, sorta like baby fat rolls!

One's arms would go around the pony's neck and shoulders, while one of their legs would go around a person's waist. Makes sense to me. In a way I don't imagine it being too unlike hugging a person insofar as the physics of the act are concerned. Pony coats are fairly thin and supple in my mind, so I think they would be maybe as soft as a cat, with the firmness of an extra firm pillow.

Well, I imagine it would be like hugging a soft pillow. Adorable eyes staring right at you, their soft colorful bodies pressing against you, and I imagine they smell nice. Examples being that Pinkie probably smells like sweets, Twilight smells like books, Rarity smells of perfumes, etc.

 

I would imagine the same as well, cute eyes staring at you as you embrace the soft fluffy fur of the pony embracing you as well. That experince must be very cute though.

I have ridden real ponys before, (my wife had 1 that her parents are now careing for, and 2 minis that are thiers)  So I'd imagine its alot like hugging a real horse, just they would be alot cleaner.   I was amazed to learn how much horses love to roll in dirt.   I was lucky enough to have her give me a crash corse in rideing, even if I was a bit too tall for the poor girl.    Lol  she was not happy to have me on her,  ears back and all.  Didn't buck tho,  retired training horse so well behaved.  Sorry  I rambled on a bit there.

Anyways, let's consider my headcannon theory regarding the physique and biology of these sapient equine creatures.

 

I imagine that for one, they would have less bones then the average equine. Most of the ponies on the show don't seem to possess the average keratin layer at the base of their hooves..

 

There's some ponies that do, such as Big Mac and other of the more brute and muscularly built ponies. But at least 90% of the ponies I see on the show have no bony and hard layer at the bottom of their hooves. Instead it seems that the hooves and the rest of pony, is made up of mostly skin, muscle, fat and fur and as a result, would feel soft and a little squishy, like a marshmallow. :3

 

The point? 

 

I imagine most of the ponies to have less bones than the ones IRL. So therefore, if we would hug them, they'd feel just like pillows, especially when our body would be against their fur. It would feel so much like a pillow! So soft and FLUFFY!!! 

 

Sigh...well at least we got plushies to hug.

I think nothing more can be added about Fluttershy. Generally my opinion is same as this one. One hug from her and my life would be complete. Too bad it won't happen though
