Prefered Rarity pairing

Rarity has had the most dating out of the mane six.  She has a lot of options, so I thought we should have a thread on the topic.  The five in the poll seem the most reasonable (though Big Mac is a bit of a stretch).  I think it's safe to say that Blueblood ain't getting a second chance.

I prefer Rarity to be with Spike but that won't happen at all. I guess I'll go with Thunderlane for some mysterious and odd reasons.

I know, it's rather unlikely that it ever happens in the show. I know there are many people who dislike this shipping and some of them even have solid and valid arguments for that, but I say, either this one or no Rarity pairing at all. I can't imagine another one to work.

I ship RariJack, but I would honestly love it to have Rarity and Thunderlane get together.

 

They just look oddly adorable together, and the hug they did in "Wonderbolt Academy" was absolutely adorable.

It's between Fancy Pants with Rarity, or Spike with Rarity. I'll probably go with Spike since I seem him as the underdog.

 

Also I always though Thunderlane was kinda weird with Rarity simply because of a 5 sec clip(still better than FlutterMac though)

I say Spike mainly because he's my favorite character. I do ship Rarity with anyone but Spike seems like the best bet.

And now, my opinion.

 

Rarity is a unicorn mostly looking for love. After the Prince Blueblood situation, I don't know exactly where she stands, but Thunderlane just seems perfect for her.

 

Spikey-Wikey is adorable, too! But I'll go with Thunderlane.

Fancy Pants is the gentleman that Rarity has always dreamed of and unlike Blueblood he's ones of the few characters who seems to have redeeming qualities.

 

Spike or Thunderlane aren't bad options but a little more farfetched.

 

After the Sleepless in Ponyville ep especially I still think AJ would be a great pairing in a lesbian fannon context. They'd still be opposites but ones who can challenge the other to get their hooves a little bit dirty or to clean up a bit.  With Applebloom and Sweetie along to complete the pair it seems to make a lot of sense in how they'd work as a family unit. The fact that both are adapting and enjoying each other's company after a rough S1 start speaks volumes.

Well, I prefer the shipping with her and Elusive: the rule 63 version of her present in the fanfiction "On A Cross and Arrow." They both go together very well, and I like their relationship. The only bad thing is that he isn't a canon character which means it will most likely never happen in the show.

 

But if had to choose somepony canon, I guess I would go with Fancy Pants. They seem like they would make a good couple by the way they interacted with eachother in Sweet and Elite, and he is a gentlecolt, which seems like the ideal pony for Rarity. The only problem for me is that he appears to be married.

So Fancy Pants is what you are saying....I'm not sure why people aren't noticing that he's all the characteristics that you outlined and been with her in 2 cannon episodes. Plus he likes her friends despite their uncouth behavior at the time.

Fancy Pants looks like he's middle-aged, whereas Rarity (like the rest of the mane cast) are in the prime of their youth.

Spike is a dragon.

Big Mac is uncouth shipped with Fluttershy probably not into all the frou-frou-ie things that would be expected, and the starkness of how little he speaks vs. how much of a socialite Rarity is would make things a bit too unbalanced.

Thunderlane, I'm not sure I see why not, other than possibly thinking there are better character matches. Bluh

They don't have the time to do that. This is a slice of life series, with not many romantic undertones in it (the obvious exception being Shining Armour and Cadence, and at least that had reasonable standards). Even if they introduced subplots to some episodes, it would not be effective; a waste of time. You could use that time instead to further progress an established storyline for an episode. This idea will not work unless there some episodes heavily dedicated to "pairings", or if it were revealed in a series epilogue. Disregarded the latter, in that case it will have strayed from the premise of the show. Hence why I mean "jumping the shark"; it's really unnecessary and only adds awkward dramatics.

I don't see a future Rarity episode couldn't cover a pairing even if that was a "we'll always have Canterlot" farewell at the end. The audience is growing up with this show, it's not unheard of to add romance to girls shows, and they abandoned the self-contained episodes when Trixie and Discord came back and Twi got wings. Let the show's scope grow, the fans already have let them that happen thru fannon.  Plus maybe then we'll get some male brushables sold in stores.

Er, well, I think my current avatar and signature says it all, LOL. Not, as I also say in my signature, that I WANT that to happen in the show (I'm opposed to it), but I love their colour schemes together, their personality niches together, etc. A lot of people dislike same-sex pairings but as a pansexual I don't care. XD

I think there is one point missing here in the pool. It goes like that: "Uh, actually, Rarity is mai waifu."

Not that I would check it for real real. But, just for the record, I, for one, think this option should be added.

 

And now seriously: I don't want Rarity to be paired. I beleave, Rarity is a big pony and can decide for herself, who she comes together with.

And if creators of the show decide to give Rarity a mate - I just hope they handle this with some dignity.
