Hey y'all! I drew some profile view stuff last night since i have monday off today for labor day, well, actually i drew this saturday night and last night, but still. ;p.

 

Anyways, i was just doing some practice with profile view and drew my Ponysona and the mare OC(who i'm on the verge of selecting a name, but am to indecisive to.. help? http://mlpforums.com/topic/72020-poll-new-oc-need-help-narrowing-down-names/ )

 

Anyways, i don't think its really anything special, its kinda just some practice on profile views, but its kinda eh. I thought about using it for a new avatar, but i'm not sure if its good enough. I'll leave the thoughts up to y'all i guess though.

 

I did experiment with trying sunset as the background, seeing as i've yet to do that, but i think the blue was to daylight like, so it looks a bit odd, the grass might've been to green to, not sure.

 

But anyways heres the art!

Like i said, not that special, i didn't draw the seperation of the peddles in the roses because i just thought i'd see if they looked better.

 

Alot of expirementing with this overall. I dunno how well i like it, but i'll leave opinions and thoughts up to you.

 

I only really used head ref lines on these, since i didn't know what other lines to use that could help, those even really didn't help a whole ton.

 

I think the headshape is weird for profile view, I think harder to get then regular view.

 

Same thing with the body somewhat. 

 

But i find its faster to do generally. I drew this in maybe 3 hours or so, possibly 4 i wasn't keeping track exactly. But considering its two ponies and a background I think thats pretty decently fast.

 

I used a bunch of different references between my Ponycreator pictures, and a few of my past profile view drawings, but i don't feel like listing them all here so yeah ;p.

 

I used GIMP and my mouse as always, so yeah.

 

I guess thats all, tell me what you think! I know it needs work, because frankly they both have pretty blank stares and look kinda... soulless to me almost, but idk, maybe i need to work on learning facial expressions(Which tend to confuse the crap outta me.) Might be nessary before i can actually make any drawings of my ponies together without it being just this ;p.

 

Regardless i've got alot of work to do, but i am happy i've finished two drawings over this 3 day weekend. Maybe i'll throw in another over the week or today, i'll have to see what happens after homework and other arrangements.

 

Anyways. *end rambling* tell me what you think! As always tips,tricks, comments, critique, whatever really you wanna say or offer is cool i guess. If you think i'll improve it probably will help.

To critique it, the only thing I really noticed is that the eyes are too thin and too close together. I found no real glaring errors on the actual bodies. Also the heads are closer to an oval and less like a circle than they should be. Also your OC's horn is where his ear should be, it needs to be at the center of his head.

 

Keep working on the eyes and you'll eventually get it with enough practice. What you already have is actually already pretty good. With enough work I'm sure you'll be able to master it.

 

Pretty well done.

Have you ever tried using Smooth Stroke on your paint tool in GIMP? I use that all the time. It'll help those pixly lines.

 

And also your green colt seems to have a horn-ear. XD

Hm, yeah they do look really thin now that i look at them.

 

The heads are weirdly shaped, especially the mare's head, it looks weird.. I need to work on making circles ;p.

 

And o-o, yeah i noticed that now, looks really strange xD.

I'm in no position to criticize art work. It's definitely not half bad to say the least! Definitely a world better than what I can draw! Oh well. I more than make up for that by composing music

 

If you want background lovey music for them, I can improvise something jazzy in the future.

Well, i critique people who are way better then me in art, so its not like you have to be a master to necessarily ;p.

 

I've never really tried composing music, besides random times i start thinking of songs lyrics in the shower xD. But uh that doesn't really go anywhere.. .

 

That'd be cool I guess, of course i dunno where i'd use it, but ya know ;p.
