movies/tv Scenes in anime that really touched you?

One scene that comes to mind for me is in season 2 of Slayers when Gourry was taken by the demons and Lina tried to go on and pretend like she wasn't bothered by it. Then when she was alone in her room she started crying for him. It always makes me feel sad for her, but then I get over it because the show can't stay serious for more than five minutes. ^_^

Clannad After Story

Nagisa's death and Tomoya being depressed about it, falling in a deep hole, not caring about his surroundings, leaving his daughter Usio with Fumio-san, until she tricked him into taking care of his daughter until she eventually dies on a cold winter day when a certain miracle happens...

This was THE Anime that touched me most so far, it made me smile, it made me cry. It is simply great to watch. And FUKO! :3

Wait...wasn't that the episode where Ash had to say goodbye to Pikachu or something, but Pikachu ended up staying with him. I don't know if that episode was earlier in the season but still.

I kinda remember that scene! But I think it was another episode xD ... by the way, actually now that I watched the season ending again, it was not that scene the one that made me cry xD I confused it with the episode in which Brock, Misty and Ash say goobye to each other..... anyway, the first seasons of Pokémon are still awesome ;)

For those who have seen it, the ending of Mawaru Penguindrum is pretty damn emotionally devastating.

Although I watched it recently, the stuff that happened in last last week's episode of Attack on Titan was pretty crazy and I can't get Eren's BSOD out of my head, along with Levi's utterly insane moves.

The one that sticks with me the most is definitely Fruits Basket though, like the whole damn series. If you don't cry any time Tohru talks about her momma you're cold af.

After that comes the end of Bakemonogatari, where Araragi just utterly destroys Black Hanegawa in conversation. Probably one of my favorite conversations in anime ever, truly straightforward and downright brutal in some ways.

I'm going to take you all way back.

In "Kiki's Delivery Service" Kiki had lost confidence in herself and could no longer fly a broomstick. She saw on a television that her friend Tombo (A boy who looked very much like her father) was in terrible danger dangling from a rope attached to a crippled airship. Running down the street, she sees a janitor. She borrows his battered push-broom and straddles it. There wasn't even any music or background noise. Just Kiki trying to reclaim her lost magic. The broom bristles sort of rustle, and she whispered "Fly". She then flew like a bat out of hell and was able to save her friend. "Kiki's Delivery Service" is one of my all time favorite movies, not even just among anime.

The end of "Voices of a Distant Star" got me tbh.

When Nagamine realizes, despite her best efforts, and despite having won the battle. She's hopelessly lost in space and alone.
Then it shows her final text message being received by her HS
BF back on earth. Presumably YEARS later due to lightspeed travel, he's aged greatly, and using her cell phone to send the messages via digital signal. Only to cut out then and there :(

SO many unanswered questions. And yet that was kind of the point wasn't it?

The last couple of episodes of Gurren Lagaan get me every time. Not sure how to work the spoiler thing but SPOILER AHEAD

.

.

.

.

.

.

When all of the people that came that far with them start sacrificing themselves to save everybody else it starts to get serious. Then they get stuck in the "dream reality state thing" and Simone meets the real Kamina again, and he just points and says these guys are here too, and everybody who just died is there. And then Kamina goes and shows Yoko what might have been to wake her up. And the music! The song they play during these scenes is one of the most powerful songs I've ever heard in anime and is one of my favorite.

When the mob and the press and the whole world tell you to move,
your job is to plant yourself like a tree next to the river of truth, and tell the whole world
"No, you move."

Digimon Adventure: In episode 45 after a lengthy fight scene, the digidestined are absorbed by light and finally given some answers.  The fascinating and emotional storytelling combined with the juxtaposition between violence and calmness makes it my favorite TV episode.

Serial Experiments Lain: In episode 12 I was touched when Alice tells Lain she's wrong and has her feel her heartbeat.

Fruits Basket: In episode 17 when Yuki says "Kisa, we love you" that was the first time I ever cried for a TV series.

Gunslinger Girl: In episode 9 my heart kept going out for Elsa even though she had a tough exterior, especially when her handler turns up the volume on the car stereo rather than communicate with her.

I love you.

I have a new one from just this afternoon. Today I was with some friends (A very informal anime club) and we finally watched episode twelve of  "Tasogare Otome × Amunejia" AKA "Dusk Maiden of Amnesia". Towards the end I was openly sobbing. Don't click the spoiler if you hadn't already seen, or plan to see the series.

Yuko's body is found by her sister (now in charge of the school) and given a proper burial. Yuko insists that to celebrate (she can not leave the school grounds, so couldn't go to her own funeral) she and Teiichi should go on a real date. It slowly becomes apparent that Yuko is having more and more trouble interacting with the living world. It's becoming harder and harder for her to even pick things up. She finally admits to Teiichi that since she has finally reconciled with all her unwanted bad memories and emotions, there is nothing remaining to hold her in the world of the living. She must move on and go to the afterlife. It got to the point where Teiichi could not see or hear her any more, they were communicating by writing notes in the paranormal club's notebook/diary. It was heartbreaking when Teiichi was begging for her not to go, and she was begging him to forget her and let her rest easy. When Yuko could no longer even hold the pencil I started crying. She was there just enough for them to share a kiss, even though Teiichi couldn't see her any more, and then she was gone. Teiichi told the empty room that someday he would forget her and find somebody, but not now, not yet. Then several months passed. It was announced that the school wouldn't tear down the old building after all, due to it being a historic site. Teiichi goes to look at the paranormal club one more time and finds...

YUKO! She never made it to heaven, because after they kissed, she realized it was now Teiichi that was binding her to the living world! I was still crying, but laughing at the same time. That was one of the best anime endings I have seen in ages!

Hmmm...let's see. I suppose I can think of a few.

  • In Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood when the brothers realize that the Chimera is the little girl and the dog mixed. It was pretty messed up and sad.

Yes. Yes. This scene will always, always haunt me. That moment when Edward realizes what Tucker did to that poor girl.... Jesus. It has scarred me forever. A tidal wave of feels washed over me when i first saw this.

DokiDoki! Pretty Cure

Whenever Mana (Cure Heart) wanted Regina to become her friend, I teared up a bit. Also, I teared up at a scene where Regina tries to sacrifice her life, but Mana saves her. I didn't cry when Regina was put into a deep sleep, because a new character, Aguri Madoka (Cure Ace) had already caught my attention.

I hate how nopony states that one Pokemon scene. Or two whatever.

First scene: Ego Poached!

Team Rocket helps the pokemon from a Pokemon Hunter. I cried at the end. Arbok and Weezing left. Then again, anytime James loses his pokemon, I cry. He loves them utterly, it makes me sad.

Second:Hearthome competition!

When Ash and Co enter a tag battle thing, Paul and Ash are partners. Chimchar is left behind. That whole abandonment made me cry, seriously. Chimchar, I LOVE YOU. Any Chimchar heartfelt thing made me cry. He tries his best-Ash makes the better trainer.

Oh gosh, brings back those memories of that heartless rival Paul. He had no compassion for Chimchar, belittling it every single episode. Thank Celestia, he finally went with Ash.

Okay, in just about every anime, there's just that one scene that stays with us. Sometimes, it may make us shed a few tears. Or maybe feel an abundant amount of joy. Or maybe, think about our own actions in our own life.

For me, it was the scene in DBZ where Vegeta admits that Goku is better in him. This was a sign that Vegeta would turn out to be good. Yet, after the Majin Buu Saga was done, Goku and Vegeta were still rivals and still fought. But that one scene just completely touched me in a way that I can't describe. It made me think twice about being prideful in situations and thinking that I am perfect. Well, nobody is perfect in this world.

Also, another scene that touched me was from Pokemon, when Lucario sacrificed itself to save Mew. Tears were running down my face in that scene, for I loved Lucario and didn't want him to die.

Anyway, what scenes in anime touched you?

mine is also about dragonball but its from gt its after goku becomes an adult again and pan is watching goku jr and vegeta jr fighting as rivals then pan thinks she see's goku as an adult kinda implying everyone but pan is dead even gohan, gotens and vegeta because pan is an old woman i cried for so long and even writing this brings a tear to my eye but i creid the most knowing it was the end of dragonball

dragonball is still the best anime ever battle of gods was just the revival of it

This part has made me cry every time I've watched this anime, it's one of the most powerful anime I've seen, up there with Clannad.

The death of Portgas D. Ace, from One Piece. Before reading that, I had never...NEVER cried about a manga, not even Itachi and Juriya's deaths! But when I read that...I bawled my eyes out...even thinking about it makes me tear up...R.I.P Portgas D. Ace!

P.S. Does anyone besides me think Sabo is alive and with Dragon?

The most meaningful death I have ever seen in almost any show.

Very sad that Starscream had to die :(, probably the best incarnation of him ever.

This was the one good thing about the new Pokemon, starting at 1:17:00. That music, ugh, it ripped me in half. It was so sad but so happy.

Phoenix ikki carrying his baby brother through jagged rocks, while at the same time being tempted to abandon his brother. Damn, Saint Seiya is just filled with these kind of moment all through.

Said scene & do excuse that it's in Castilian:

The ending of Angel Beats!. Enough said. :(

No but really, I was literally crying into my sleep the night I finished that anime. For a full 1-2 hours, more or less. I've never cried like that in freakin' ages- heck I don't even think I've ever cried like that! Honestly! I mean, sure I tear up somewhat often, usually out of joy, but to actually cry, especially as much as I did ... oh man ...

Dusk Maiden of Amnesia

This is a heavy duty spoiler.

Episode 12.

"The Dusk Maiden"

When Yuko's death is finally explained, her reason for being bound to the school is no more. After her body receives a proper burial she asks Teiichi to take her on a date around the school. Before long, he notices it's getting harder for her to pick up or move physical items. Her hatred gone, and the mystery solved, she begins to fade. In the end, they could only communicate by writing to each other. Teiichi begged her to stay with him, while she begged him to forget her and move on. I don't mind admitting I cried my eyes out when she could no longer hold the pencil. Then, I was almost jumping up and down laughing as I cried, when months later, Teiichi discovers Yuko has returned. Their last kiss gave her a new reason to be Earthbound. She can't move on to heaven without him!

It was a simply wonderful ending! Episode 13 was omaki silliness after that.

TBH, i haven't seen too many emotional scenes in anime, but I will take a guess.   The death scene of Master Jiraya in Naruto Shippuden.
