How close are you to leaving the fandom?

I don't even like the fandom very much and I'm not even close to leaving. I love the show, and most, of all, I love Rarity

As long as Rarity is around, I'll participate in the fandom some way or another :D

I was pretty much out the door until I saw how active this place has become in the past year, and how generally friendly everyone is. After having a profoundly negative experience with Ponychan, and after a very rough year for me personally lead to me snapping at a TRS mod, getting me banned from there, I just wanted to run screaming from everyone and everything. I even left Derpy News.

I've found that even if the show we all watch extols virtues like compassion, and kindness, there are some people out there who are completely devoid of any of that, and are so broken in their personal lives that they intentionally drag others down with them.

At this point, I just want to be left alone to enjoy the show in peace, and share my thoughts here with this great community, from time to time.

There's no way in hell that i'm leaving. Some other fanbases I left was because of a crappy fanbase and crappy new games (Sonic), but most fandoms I have been active in for years. For example, I've been part of the HP fandom for around 2 years, around the time I've been a pony fan, and I have not wavered despite no more movies for 2 years so far. I'm definitely not leaving this active and glorious fanbase unless hell freezes over. While there will be the day I am no longer an active member of the fandom, i'll still be a part of it in a way.

As for clop, not just MLP has bestiality, just ring the SPN fandom (Not saying I approve of bestiality of course). The internet was made for porn. You can't escape it. Look on derpibooru and adjust your filter so you don't get NSFW content. Rule 34, guys.

I dunno, witchcraft maybe? Or idol worship? Stuff like that maybe.

they already support witchcraft  :P

Magic a.k.a witchcraft

its even in the name of the show.

"Friendship is magic"

the magical energy from love and friendship is the most powerful kind of magic.

the ponies all seem to worship Celestia and luna.

and they do seem to be allegories  of divinity, which I might add is not part of the Judea Christian religions.

so in a way idol worship is also part of the show.

so what else could MLP support that would b against his faith?

I love how he specified show and not fandom.

I think I know, but I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Not remotely. This fandom continues to impress and amaze me with the quality of it's content as well as the magnanimity of it's members. I believe in this fandom as a powerful force for good in people's lives and will continue to proudly support and call myself among it's number.

Well as I see it, the "magic" in the show is not the kind of magic the Bible forbids. Unicorn magic is a part of the unicorns' physiology, and the magic of friendship is essentially an allegory to show that friendship is powerful and important. Witchcraft, to me, means calling upon spirits and casting curses on people, which even Twilight doesn't believe in. Never does the show actually support witchcraft in and of itself.

And Celestia and Luna aren't gods, merely monarchs.

witchcraft to me as a "wiccan" has nothing to do with casting curses and summoning spirits.

to be part of something physiology, it need to be part of its physiology and not an ability springing from their horns.

having strong legs in which to jump high could consider part of a ponies physiology but not their magical abilities.

yes. the show hasn't come out and said witchcraft is good and supported it

but you can only say that if you believe magic and witchcraft have nothing to do with each other.

and also

I didn't say that Celestia and luna were goddess's I said they were allegories.

we can end this now since this place is for discussing reasons one would or would not leave the fandom.

Oh, I already left it a year ago. I'm one of the few who considers the brony fandom to be rowdy, easily offended, and a little disgusting, as opposed to the many posts of people saying that it's wonderful and is the embodiment of kindness and love on the Internet... I don't really think so.

I haven't been here as long as most. As I see it now, I'm pretty happy with this fandom. The only fandom like thing I've been in is the gaming community, and they're so rife with hostility and butthurt that bronies seem like saints in comparison.

100% this.

Also, I'd like to add that it kind of annoys me when people think that if you get bored with something for awhile and don't watch it so much, it means you've left the fandom, like you're washing your hands of it forever.  I often see these folks who are like, "I've seen every epsiode a dozen times, and I'm a little bored with it now.  I don't watch MLP everyday anymore!  Am I no longer a brony?!  Am I not part of the fandom?!"  Chill, dude.  You don't have to watch it all the time to still like it.  I haven't actually sat down and watched through the original Star Wars trilogy in years, but I still love them.  Always will.  I'm a fan.  So, my point is that you don't have to "leave the fandom" just because you don't watch the show as much.

Exactly, the brony fandom doesn't "disavow" or "excommunicate" based on missing regular observance or something. Hell that kind of requirement would be downright draconian considering there isn't enough official material to fill two months let alone a year. And if that includes fan content, sorry, but I'm not going to read Cupcakes and Rainbow Factory more than once!

I'm a brony, and I consider it a key part of my identity. Then again, I check these Forums regularly so I might not exactly be a prime example.

You just described me when it comes to the hobbies and interests I have. Star Wars and Trek will always be a part of my life, and I still call myself a fan even though I only do an annual marathon of the SW movies. Trek I'll watch when the mood suits. I have friends in both fandoms that I've known for years. It's odd because this is where I expected my Bronyhood to fall under. Nope.

This fandom feels different to me - not sure why and quite frankly and I don't want to know why. Some things should just be magical. Point blank - Brony for life.

I'm not even close to being close to remotely considering the possibility of leaving. :)

I have all sorts of reason for leaving the fandom that I don't feel like talking about. I'll still the be awesome pony that I am. I just won't concern myself much with fandom activities but naturally I'm going to watch the show. It's kinda of my job description and I'm not about to talk about that either. 7 brohoofs remaining so I come closer but I'm still on the fence about it.
