How long is pinkie gonna keep gummie?

in fact gummie staying that size is gonna be my pocket argument that time is in fact not really passing all that much.

 

At what time does the town take action against pinkie and her dangerous hazardous pet lol.

Probably until he dies, which most likely won't be on the show. But, Gummy isn't dangerous, he's a toothless alligator who can't do any damage, really. Pinkie will probably never give away Gummy. He's no real danger to Pinkie, her friends, or any of the town's ponies. 

 

 

Rainbow is seen in no pain here, maybe a bit annoyed but not in any kind of danger.

It is a toothless alligator and for all we know that could be a teen or adult sized gator, but still it means no harm but shows that it is playful. Nothing can harm someone without the proper tools.

Actually, he's not an alligator. By the shape of his head and snout, he's a crocodile. Specifically, he's a Osteolaemus tetraspis, or Dwarf Crocodile. Alligators have a lot blunter snout and a flatter, wider head.

 

As such, Pinkie's got a small problem. Crocodiles (and alligators for that matter) constantly replace their teeth as they grow. They don't follow the pattern we're all used to of having 'baby' and 'adult' teeth, and constantly loose and grow new teeth throughout their life. There's no guarantee that Gummy is going to be toothless forever, and crocodilians are at least as long-lived as humans.

 

That aside, given the level of intelligence all the animals in MLP:FiM show, there's no reason Gummy *can't* be kept as a pet even when he reaches full growth of 5-6 feet long. Although Gummy does seem a bit dafter than the other pets, so he may not be quite so reasonable later.

Pinkie is never going to give Gummy away. He is a toothless alligator. He can't do harm to anyone. He does latch on to ponies, but without any teeth, he can't do any damage. He is harmless.

@@Fhaolan, I was happy when I saw science and fact, but judging by the nature of the show and it's treatment of physics, I don't see MLP giving biology much respect.

 

Gummy is probably either a runt or a species of alligator (snout says croc, canon says gator) only found in Equestria. His lack of teeth can be a genetic defect, or Pinkie may remove teeth as they grow. The fact that Twi flipped the first time she saw Gummy indicates that he is different from others of his species. Gummy does act pretty normal, not moving much on land except to bite, and bite he does. I think, because of her personality and the nature of the show, Pinkie will always be friends with Gummy, but she may need to...give him space as he grows.

 

I prefer to think that Gummy is just a special species of crocigator that will stay small and toothless so that he will always be harmless and Pinkie Pie won't have to lose a friend. Not very scientific, but it works in the MLP universe.

I think she'll keep him all his life.  For all we know he may be a unique species.  Maybe no teeth due to some defect or something.    I don't think Pinkie would have his teeth removed.  Doesn't feel like a Pinkie thing to do.  I'm not sure if it's mentioned how old he is in the show, but I doubt anyone will age much, if any, in the show even if it lasts for 10 or more seasons.

Keeping a pet alligator isn't as hard as you might think.  Their growth is based on how much food they eat, so it's rather straightforward to keep them small.  He also has no teeth, so he can't really hurt anypony.

Most likely forever. Seeing as aging does not take place at all in their world. Still as long as his teeth don't grow and Pinkie Pie has control over him, I'm sure the town won't mind. Besides, she can just move him somewhere close if he get's to big.

you speak of this as if gummy had his teeth removed by a pony, which may or may not be the case as I can't be arsed to rewatch all the episodes with gummy in them, but it could be a genetic abnormality that makes his jaws or gums not suitable to carry teeth and as they grow in they may just continue to fall out.

Gummy is pretty much " domesticated" rather than being a wild animal so even if he gets bigger and grows teeth; he knows what's bad and good and will sway from that sort of behavior
