Season 4 Promo Analysis and Speculations (Spoilers)

I will be sharing some details i've noted when looking at certain scenes in the promo in case anyone missed anything. For a lot of this I may just be stating the obvious but I just wanted to make sure to cover as much as I could.

 

First Note: The first few clips confirm and support the episode synopsis that was released early ago about the season 4 premier/first episode. The Everfree forest is taking over the town, weather patterns are off, as well as the fact that it is currently both night and day. The text synopsis claims that Celestia (And if I remember right Luna as well, please correct me if I am wrong) is mysteriously not present when this happens and it will be up to Twilight (As the only princess currenty present) to fix this.

 

Second Note:

Twlight's ascendance to Alicornhood appears as a stain-glass image in the Canterlot Castle. This comes to no surprise though as most large events are often catalogued like this. (Though this makes me wonder why Cadence doesnt have a stain-glass picture since she ascended to Alicornhood in an almost similar way.)

 

 

Third Note:

Another scene shows Twilight in Canterlot which may indicate that she has tried to seek Celestia's help. We also see distressed citizens confused to why this is all happening. (With Celestia gone I speculate that the citizens will turn to Twilight for help)

 

Fourth Note:

If anyone was wondering if Discord was going to be in the premier I am fairly certain he is. In the brief moment Discord is shown he is lounging on a chair eating popcorn and wearing 3D glasses you can look closely in the background and see Ponyville rooftops. Most importantly you can see the simultaneous night and day also in the background. Whether he is involved in the conflict or not is still to be seen.

 

Fifth Note:

A Brief scene with Celestia is shown where she is flying in front of a large stone version of the element of Magic. This stone also has a second smaller stone next to it resembling another element of Harmony. (I thought it was the element of Laughter because of it's blue color but seeing as the Magic stone wasn't Magenta I merely believe all the stones are the same color or "bluish-light grey" colored since it is made of stone.)

The stone itself flashes brightly as Celestia uses her magic for some unknown use. (So whatever is happening to the stone I believe was intended to happen by Celestia's doing.)

 

Sixth Note:

I am unsure of what to take from this part but when the "Coming in November" announcement it onscreen there is a particuar background that cought my interest when looking over the video. The background shows a dark-bluish cave like area with a glowing pink flower and a crystal/ice tree-like structure with an image of a sun and moon on it as well as a branch with a large Green Gem on it. I am not sure if we'll be seeing this in an episode but the imagery is surely interesting. (You also see this "tree" around the end of the promo)

 

Seventh Note:

Another small clip shows something I thought was both interesting and cool. Right after a clip of Twilight soaring through air, the video cuts to a scene where the rest of the Mane 6 are standing in front of a white building with a pointed yellow roof. These colors mainly indicate that it is a Canterlot building. I personally would like to speculate that this is Twilight's House/Castle as scene in Magical Mystery Cure.

 

Eigth Note:

A cool clip in the middle shows a neat bit of what the last bit of the opening theme (You know when the theme song says "you are my very best-" and it usually shows Twilight and her friends before cutting to Celestia looking at a letter, yeah that part) is going to look like with the new Alicorn Twilight in it. Aside from the Mane 6 you also see: Zecora, the CMC, Big Mac, Mrs. Cake, Mayor Mare, Granny Apple, and...Snips n' Snails?

 

Ninth Note:

Spike blows a horn however I'm not sure if this is just stock footage from Hurricane Fluttershy or if this is completely new footage.

 

Tenth Note:

Luna and Derpy are nowhere to be seen in the Promo.

From what I saw in the promo, this will prove a huge test for Twilight to pass ever since her ascension into an alicorn in the Season 3 finale. So, I think that we might be seeing some secondary characters involved in Season 4 and we will see what happens from there.

I'm just going to add onto your first note a little bit with some speculation of my own.

 

I'm not sure what role the Everfree Forest plays in this, or the strange weather patterns, but in the promo you can see it being half day and half night along with Celestia and Luna missing. Think about our newly crowned princesses' name; Twilight Sparkle. What if shes the one that has to make the transition from day to night? She has to learn how to bring about Twilight. Could that be what that episode is about? It makes sense.

 

Of course I know that Celestia and Luna were able to make the transition by themselves all those years, but maybe they're handing over the responsibility of Twilight to Twilight. Its up to Twilight to *fix* it and make the transition since Celestia and Luna are missing.

 

Thats what I think might happen in the season opener.

Judging by Crystal Heart Spell Cadence is technically the Princess of Love? I don't know if the book counts as actual cannon though.

Maybe it can be another villain from 1000 years ago had been cursed the Everfree Forest. It could be a Timberwolf princess or something that are living in a kingdom somewhere in the forest.

Timberwolf princess? That would be terrifying, especially if it is practically unbreakable...

Not like the giant one from "Spike at your Service" which could be killed by a rock...hell, the CMC would make a tougher matchup.

It's a good theory, but at the moment the spoilers are just making the whole thing more confused. I'm really not sure how to reconcile the various spoilers.

I don't have a link but a promo poster came out showing that tree again, this time with the element of harmony on each branch.

I'm curious of it's significance.
