So is there EVER going to be a live action My little Dashie film?

You look on things like youtube, and you can see readings of it, and TRAILERS for it, with lists for characters or whatnot, but there doesn't seem to be one that ever follows through. There's even a website called mldmovie.com, and, guess what. The project was cancelled!

I mean, come on! It's one of the most popular and well known MLP fanfics to date. How has someone NOT managed this already? There are plenty of MLP in Real Life videos out there, so this doesn't seem like it should be overly difficult in an animation sense, since RD is going to have to be totally green screened in.

time and money. and sometimes the fan support.

people don't like making something when the people they make it for don't show enough support.

also, time and money. a lot of people start something and then later realise their plans arn't completely thought through and are basically impossible.

Probably not. It would take a production and animation team that know what they are doing, funds to support any needs that they need for the live action film, and a lot of time with effort to put into the film. There are projects out there that are worked on for months or even a year, and they are either a success or they did not make a big impact.

If they were ever planning on making one, they should stop.

It wouldn't look right for starters, and I doubt anyone can capture the emotion of something like that fan fic, and it takes place over several years, again something that's hard to capture in a movie setting.

If they do plan on doing something with the fan fic, it won't be pony related.

"If they do plan on doing something with the fan fic, it won't be pony related."  What does that mean? If it's not about ponies, then it wouldn't be my little dashie.

And I disagree that it's impossible to capture the feeling. I actually sat through Mic the Microphone's reading of it, and it got me to cry over it again after simply reading it stopped doing it. If the music is done right and the voices are good, that's already half the battle there. The other issue of course is animation, and how well they can integrate Rainbow Dash into real life being that throughout the entire movie she is going to simply be an effect, unless they want to go the 'living plushie' route, which would just be awful in the first place..

Really, even if it isn't the most amazing thing to happen to Bronydom since Derpy first got a name and voice, I would still watch it just to be able to see it in a movie setting.

The whole fic is basically like this.

A man who has no purpose in his life needs something to keep him going. He's in a run down town, works at a dead end job and his parents are dead, an he has no close immediate family.

One day he's walking the streets and finds a little girl I'm the box, he has no idea were she came from, or who she is, but he couldn't leave her alone so he saves her from the streets.

Years pass and he realizes that the girl he saved has become the best thing in his life. It's practically his own daughter. He teaches her to read, write, ride a bicycle math etc.

After 15-16 some odd years, she sees a missing girl report on tv. She finds out that she was the missing girl, and that her real parents are actually celebrities, and she also finds out that her care taker has been hiding this from her all her life. Distraught and confused she runs away. The man goes out chasing after her, saddened by his decision of never telling the truth to her. Eventually he finds her, they reconcile, and life returns to normal for awhile.

Then on her 19th birthday, her celebrity parents track her down to the house they were currently living in and take her back, ripping the daughter from the care taker forcing him to forget her.

Now ponify it, and you get my little dashie. That's what my little dashie is. A ponified version of this.

Anyway, that's what I mean by it. It won't be in pony form if they do something like MLD on youtube. It will be in human form.

The animation aspect of it will be the hardest no doubt, and budget will also be another problem, so unless they have someone funding it, it won't get done.

Well, since I know JACK about what goes into filming, why is it so expensive? If they already own a video camera and the proper editing software beforehand, doesn't the expenses mostly come from the film itself?

And after giving another look I see that someone IS planning a real life short film of MLD, like 20-30 minutes long. According to the trailer video StormXF3 expects it to be done in time for Christmas. Someone wrote comments about cancellation, and it directed me to that MLDmovie site I wrote about in my opening comment, but it's NOT the same group, because that guy specifically wrote and gave links to OTHER groups attempting it, (one of them being for StormXF3's trailer)so it can't be the same one. Aside from that, the trailer on the site itself it different and the video specifically says it was cancelled, while his doesn't say it anywhere.

Link to the trailer here, and info is in the description. I'm still going to wait and see. I don't know how good it will be, but as a brony I have to watch it. He's done numerous green screen ponies and MLP in real life videos that are good, so he's got the animation bit down.

Well, ahem, I like worlds collide between mlp and the human world.

And i'm not going to hate on someone who thought they needed someone of the show to make their bleak life happier.

erm cause I've never thought of mlp when i was down to feel better......

SHUT UP!

any ways, i've even peaked at the comic, and .........I don't know I just couldn't get wrapped up in it.  the starts strong but it's awkerd in alot parts.

I would have peaked at the live action but I think i would have appreciated the who framed roger rabit stick with ponies.

But would I have liked it?...
I would have tried^^ ALOT.

In order to make a good movie you need money.

Money builds sets, boom mics, the use of songs in movies from producers, lighting, filming equipment, and animation programs.

That's why most movies that are made wxpect to make a revenue of about 3 million+ because the spend 2 mil building everything and getting it prepared.

And that's just for equipment. You still have to hire actors, make up artists, clothing specialist etc. it can be very stressful time consuming and cost a ton of money to make a movie, and it still amazes me how dedicated bronies are because there's a shit ton of live action short films out there based on MLP. We have such dedication.

So if StormXF3 actually does follow through and releases this movie like he says, would you watch it, or would you want someone else to screen it for you first to see if it's going to be worth watching? I'm banking on this guys skill, especially with LittleShyFIM on his team. I don't know most of the people on his team list. For me I think the issue is less about the animation, since he's shown to be skilled, but about the voices now. While I loved MicTheMicrophone's reading of it, his RD voice could sometimes be a little grating during her emotional lines. So I hope they find a good VA for her.

About money issues you mentioned, I don't see that it comes too much into play here. Most of it will just be him filming either his house or outside and talking to himself, then greenscreeninging in Rainbow later. It shouldn't require a lot of props.outside of the all mighty cardboard box and a photo album, which are very cheap. If he already had the mics, camera, and animation programs like he seems to, I just don't see a big amount of money going into this, but then I again I've never tried to film a movie so maybe I don't know.

I hope not. MLD is the most ridiculous and overhyped self-insert piece of crap fanfiction I've ever read.

I understand why people "like" it, but even Cupcakes is a better fic.

It looks like Plan 9 From Outer Space has some competition. You can bet I'll be there on day one, laughing my ass off.
