What is your opinion on the MLP toys?

Bronies come into the store I work at all the time asking for these toys. I don't see the appeal in them myself, and I don't think I'd ever buy them. I'd much rather have a plushie to hold in bed or something!

This toy just doesn't look like Rainbow Dash to me. Does anybody else find it weird that McDonalds did a better job of making the toys than Hasbro? There's just....so much wrong here.

It's just odd to me that since the show is based off the toys, that the toys look so weird and unlike the characters. The day that McDonalds makes a better toy than the real thing is a sad, sad day.

There's are reason why McDonald's is so popular...

Does the box say she is the glamor girl of Ponyville? Hmmm

That means Hasbro is doing this just for profit, I don't even think the toy designers even watched the show!

But at the same time, it is difficult to make them look show accurate due to the materials they use.

Well peeps, who do you expect them to make them even remotely similar with that brushable hair? The still figures actually can do it, but not the brushables. Be happy that the body is alright

You can however cut and style the hair to look as close as you can make it to the RBD in the show. I did that to my Twilight and she looks much better than before.

Speaking of which, does anybody know if you can go to McDonalds and just buy the toys without the meal? If you can, how much are they?

I have heard that you can, but I have no idea, as far as I know there is no toys here in Norway atm (at Mcdonalds), but I think you can ask for it.

They didn't even get Pinkie's mane right. McDonalds seems to have something good going.

I have no idea how to do something like that :o

Yeah... I wonder how McDonalds is better at toys than Hasbro... Maybe the toy producers were high on rainbows when they did it? I don't know, but anyway, who knows what they have done?

Great adventuring for great treasures!....Except when I'm hurt...

Rainbow Dash is a tomboyish pony that hates fashion and "cute" things, yet they give her curled hair, pink accessories, a comb, and a cute woodland creature.

Hasbro logic.

We have similar threads on this already. Allow me to repeat myself...

Every time a brony complains about the lack of show accuracy for the toys and forget they are toys for little girls, I just wanna bang my head into my desk repeatedly.

As others have said: we are not the target audience, the hair isn't styled nor are the toys perfect as a way to cut production costs, the text doesn't match because they are going with the theme of the packaging. Then you have those new born mutant toys, which are obviously left over from the last MLP generation (once again, a way to cut production costs).

Theres also another thing as to why the toys aren't show accurate. The show is made to sell the toys, NOT the toys are made to promote the show. If Hasbro was doing this, then yes, we would be seeing show accurate toys. Hasbro is also following the same business model that they have always done for the MLP line since the 80s. The difference this time is that now they have gained an unexpected following.

Keep in mind Hasbro has always marketed to kids, so they have no idea how to market to bronies. These toys are also planned very far in advance, so we aren't going to see more toys that bronies would like overnight. The stuff on the store selves now they most likely planned a year or a year and a half ago, long before the brony craze caught on. The up coming TRS toys are Hasbro's way of saying that they do care about us and they are trying to please us in the best way they currently know how. Plus, they are testing the waters with them being "exclusives" and all, waiting to see just how much we would be willing to spend. If they sell well, I'm sure they will come up with more stuff for bronies.

Also, the MLP line has always been based around ponies with brushable hair, so they obviously need to make the hair like they do so it can be brushable.

In McDonald's case, they are going off by production art givien to them from Hasbro from the show, rather than Hasbro handing them MLP pony toys and saying "here make miniatures of these" or promotional art from their toys. If that happened, the toys would look very different then they are now. Also, McD's just happens to be a skilled veteran in making small little figures of characters based off of TV shows and films, which can make quite a difference right there.

I do understand all of that. But if the fans are bigger fans of the show than the toys, and "the customer is always right" then shouldn't they at least try to model it as such? Not to mention that, in my opinion, everypony's mane looks better and more brushable in the show than they do on the toys. Sorry, but that's just my opinion on this subject.

When Hasbro first started production of the toys they weren't expecting this whole following to appear, so I don't think they're gonna change how they make them just so an internet fandom will be satisfied
