Will the Elements of Harmony ever play a part in the show again?

Now that the Elements have been returned to the Tree of Harmony, will they ever be used by the mane six or other characters again? I must say, I was getting a bit tired of the Elements always coming back and saving the day so I was glad when they were returned to the Tree. But honesty, loyalty, generosity, kindness, and laughter have all been such important themes in building the world of the show so far, that I am also a bit sad to see their physical manifestations go. I would like it if in the show's finale (something I hope we don't see for a long time) the mane six have to take up the Elements one last time and use them in conjunction with whatever powers the keys are going to give them to vanquish one final huge Evil and ensure peace in Equestria forever. I think that if we have a couple more seasons before the very end that don't involve the elements at all, when they come back into play they will feel legendary and they will make us feel like our beloved mane six have passed into legend too.

 

What do you think? Would you like to see the Elements make a comeback or not? If so, when and how? If not, would you like to see them destroyed or just written into obscurity? Or something else?

I want to see how the Mane 6 will deal with fighting villains and dealing with their own problems, without the Elements of Harmony in their possession. To see how they can cope with using their friendship alone, without the six Elements that represent who they are and deal with the problem head on.

Actually, I thought they were going to face a villain so powerful that even the Elements of Harmony wouldn't work against them.  Then they'd either have to find something stronger or somehow power up the Elements.  I wouldn't mind seeing the Elements come back if, as you suggest, finding the six keys allows them to unleash their power one more time.

 

But the alternate plot device of winning without relying on your traditional ultimate weapon works well too.  They've already beaten Queen Chrysalis and King Sombra by other means.

I'm sure they will. I love the direction the show is going in with removing the Elements from their possession and potentially putting them in situations where they would have used them, but can't any more. They are bound to pop up here and there. But, this will be the Mane6's chance to surprise us with how they deal with situations.

I agree with everything said so far; I really want to see how they deal with their own problems without the Elements there to bail them out. I also kind of think the keys are going to play sort of a "new role" for the Elements. I think they're going to have to use their element to find the keys and in return the keys may represent those elements or something along those lines, but I don't know. I don't really want to see the Elements make a comeback.

The elements themselves? Maybe and maybe not. We know though that the Tree of Harmony will continue to play a key role and protect Equestria.

 

Moreover though in a sense the Mane 6 are the Elements of Harmony, because they embody what the Elements of Harmony represent. As long as they continue to carry those virtues, they will already have the Elements of Harmony inside them.

I think so, i think they may come back later at the end of the season or something, in some emergency, but whether they'll work who knows.

 

I do think the elements will show up in the show atleast once before it ends, i'd be very surprised if they don't. Whether they are used however is an entirely different story.

Yeah, the feeling I got from the first season was that the actual crystals really didn't hold any power and the real power came from the mane six. But then in seasons two and three they were always running to get the elements so I was beginning to get the idea that the crystals held more power than I thought. Maybe even more than the mane six. I hope season four shows more of the element power coming from within the characters, without the aid of some shiny stone.

I think what made the Elements interesting is the bond it formed between the Mane 6. Just remember the dialogue at the end of S4.2. The Mane 5 really found it hard to give them up and took their positions as the guardians of Equestria seriously. Twilight was able to convince them that their friendship was bigger than the elements and maybe their ability to defend was bigger too. It be fun to see them again, but to make their return to the tree more meaningful they can't really run and take them again.

in any case, were not going to see them until that chest is opened, what ever is in that chest i think will determine whether or not we see the EoH used again.
