can somepony help me?

I've seen in blind commentary on youtube about this episode, and so far they've shockingly reacted to Applebloom's short number when she took the map but then dropped into the water. I sort of understood what she was saying but maybe I was ignoring to what was referenced to.

Can somepony please clear that out for me?

It is a reference to this.

Some time ago, Tara Strong did a "Twilightlicious" thing to a fans request, and it blew up massively. Since then, almost all the ponies have been liciouse'd. Hasbro referenced that, because when Applebloom picked up the map and sang the same tune. "M to the A to the (something) P. Aint no other pony find a map like me, I'm Apple- Uhoh"

AHHHHH THIS IS THE BEST EPISODE SINCE...THE LAST BEST EPISODE! :D

1) APPLE FAMILY SONG, BEST SONG

2) PINKIE PIE + APPLE FAMILY = BEST FAMILY

3) APPLEBLOOM AND PINKIE PIE ARE EXTRA ADORABLE IN THIS ONE *SQUEEEEEEEEEE*

4) Golden Delicious has dust kitties in her house. DUST KITTIES. <3

5) Granny cuts Big Mac off whenever he tries to say more than "Yup" or "Nope", raising implications of childhood mental abuse that led him to adopt his quiet ways.

Okay, that last one is a joke but AHHHHH IT'S ALL SO CUTE I CAN'T STOP GRINNING. THERE WAS THE PINKIE PIE WITH THE SCRAPBOOK AND THE APPLEJACK WITH THE SINGING AND THE APPLEBLOOM WITH THE PLAYING AND SQUEEING AND AHHHH!

*LAUNCHES INTO THE SKY, EXPLODES INTO CONFETTI*

Okay time for my proper analisys of the is epidose. First off, great episode. It is a filler episode, but it focused around the the mainpoint of hte whole series. Yes, it did not push the plot on the keys forward. But it did embody friendship and love even if Pinki and the Apples are related or not, after all...the mane 6 are all honorary members of the apple family anywaysPinkie off the bat in Twili's library was a little spastic as usual, I mean Pinkie's knob goes to 11, but since season 4 started, they pushed her to 12!! She does tone down through the episode back to 11 and I hope they keep this going. Feels like in the earlier episodes for season 4 they are really trying to recapture "Too Many Pinkies" insanity and humor.

All of this is forgiven with one of the series (whole series) best written and feel good songs of all time. "Apples to the Core" was catchy, rythmically flowed, and used great musical form in rythm to create a warming and down right amazing song. The off key singing of granny accented the song and kept it light hearted but not boring as well. This is one that will not fall to the back ground.

Continuing on, the premise was simple but entertaining. The cat Lady relative was hilarious. When she strolled up with cats stuffed into her saddle bags made me laugh. More over, the loss of the map to the fish/eagle combo, and the steering wheel to the duck/eagle combo was the irony of murphys law done in such a funny way. The whole episode got me right in the warm family feels. I approve...so does pinkie

So, being not the hugest Applejack fan in the world, I found myself asking, "What, another Apple Family episode?  Does her family NEED to get any larger?  What happened to her parents?"  This episode also perpetuates the theme of "Stuff happens.  Applejack learns nothing." :)

That said, I thought "Apples to the Core" was a better song than both "Hearts Strong as Horses" and "Generosity" - it was well-produced and entertaining, even if I don't like country songs that much. ;)  And the crazy-cat-hoarder aunt was pretty entertaining - they MUST have taken some cues from "Hoarders: Buried Alive" for that one.

(And given the kinds of gruesome things you often see on that show, the cat-shaped pile of dust was actually a little scary...)

If Fluttershy had been on this trip, she would have been horrified to see AJ and Pinkie just leave that squirrel stuck to the tree like that.

Overall, I thought this was a decent episode - not really my favorite so far, but not a bad one either.  That's more reflective of the fact that Applejack is my least favorite of the six (though that's not saying much - I don't dislike her - I just like the others more), and Pinkie was pretty much in-character the whole episode.

(I did particularly like that Pinkie showed some more of her loving, caring depth in this episode, similar to what we saw in "A Friend Indeed", and wasn't just over-the-top bonkers the whole time.)

Thinking about it a little more, I changed my vote from "It was Okay" to "I liked it" because of the episode's life lesson.  I have a family and a circle of friends where the lines between the two are really blurry - I have friends close enough to consider family, and I like to think of most of my family as some of my best friends, as well.  (My wife and I are certainly BFFs - gah, I typed that term, and now I must pour bleach on my keyboard.)  So I think this episode's moral is quite a good one - that you can be family even if you aren't necessarily blood relations.  It speaks to the nature of true friendship, perhaps a lot more than many of the show's other lessons.

More to the point, this is the second episode in a row here in Season 4 to steer the show back to its Season 1 and 2 roots.  I'm glad to see that it's still "Friendship is Magic", and not "Fandom is Bronies". ;)

I actually kinda liked this episode... It seemed to be the least crazy (well, Pinkie Pie was still crazy, but the setting and situation wasn't wacky like, for instance, "Power Ponies" or "Bats!") and most like the previous seasons of the 8 episodes preceding it. Near the beginning of the episode, I felt that Pinkie was still just being stupid, as opposed to being crazy but with a real good brain hidden inside like she had been before. As the episode progressed, however, she seemed to grow a bit of a brain, so that's good. Other than that, the episode was basically just a fun episode that didn't contribute to the overarching storyline of season 4 -- which I actually like. Now that I've been treated to this so called "season-wide arc" that is season 4, I'm more than happy with the episodic nature of the previous seasons.

One more thing... It felt odd at the end when they finally reached Goldie Delicious's place and they nearly instantly find out that they are are not still don't know whether they're cousins or not. I thought that pacing here was odd, but maybe that's just me.

Anyways, like I said, I enjoyed this one, which is really all that matters, especially in the midst of all these other meh (IMO) episodes.

I was very afraid about idea of Pinkie Pie being related to the Apple family. Fortunately, at the end it turned out that this is not true.
In overall this episode turned out to be very good and I enjoyed it a lot. I really love such kind of quite simple adventures involving a lot of interactions between characters. All of them were depicted very well.
The only thing that I disliked was creation of Goldie Delicious, she looked like she had Diogenes syndrome, all these trash what she collected, it looked very bad. And this swarm of cats, I didn't find it cute at all.

The lesson was very valuable but I think that e.g. the story about Scootaloo and Rainbow Dash could suited for it much more.

I think the episode was great! The character and story development was the highlight of this episode.Althought it showed a valuable lesson, it did leave me withl doubt if Pinkie Pie is actually an Apple family member...Also they are rumors that ¤●SlenderMan/Slenderman●¤ appeared deep in the background...I tried to "google" it but I couldn't fi d a decnt answer to this.^_^:):D

This episode was simple, but really heartfelt.

Pinkie was in top form again, and it was nice to see a slightly more reigned-in take on her characterization while still managing to capture her usual brand of zaniness. This is how you write Pinkie Pie.

Applejack was great as well, and this is probably the Apple family's strongest showing thus far. This is some of the most realistic family interaction we've seen on the show, and I really enjoyed seeing their personalities bounce off each other. Despite their conflicts, of course, the Apples still stick together in the end, which of course is what family is all about.

Both lessons are great. No family is perfect, but sticking together through the tough times is what ultimately matters. And of course, family isn't necessarily limited by biology. I'm really digging the dual-lesson trend these episodes have had lately.

In any case, this week's MLP was fantastic. It was an absolute joy to watch, as expected from a Pinkie Pie episode.

^ This right here is why i think this is one of the show's best episodes in a while. ESPECIALLY for Pinkie's characterization.

Once again, season 4, you continue to redeem yourself with me for your mediocre episodes of the past. Just going to get it out of the way now, "Pinkie Apple Pie" is one of my favorite episodes this season.

For starters, it's Pinkie's first episode of season 4. That alone makes it good. I'll make this point more relevant later.

Something I really enjoyed about this episode is it's excellent focus on the Apples themselves. It's the first episode that focuses on the entire AJ side of the family in one big bunch. Big Mac, Applebloom, Granny Smith, and most importantly Applejack. They're all there, all at once, getting equal share of screen time, causing equal conflict and equal resolution. They were all brought on and brought in superbly.

Another thing I like is that it never fully answers the question the episode obviously brings up: Is Pinkie Pie really an Apple? If they had set themselves on an answer, the impact of accepting Pinkie into the family one way or the other wouldn't have been nearly as powerful. Had she been an Apple, well, easy does it. Had she not been an Apple, it would've been a basic turn-around with more certainty and acceptance. No, rather, it left it open. Not only for the viewing audience, but for the characters as well, leaving a sense of indecision and doubt in both audiences. Yet every Apple, right then and there, took Pinkie in without a second thought, despite the lack of assurance or concrete evidence.

Also, their use of Big Mac was actually done nicely. The episode manages to characterize him and give him a lot more of a character than most of the prior episodes did without making him a full-on blabbermouth. They got in so much characterization in through his actions and reactions, and he hardly even actually said much. As well, the way they kept him FROM talking much was hilarious.

Getting back to the Pinkie Pie point, though, my favorite thing about this episode, as was the case with everypony else, was how they portrayed our pink party pony. This portrayal of Pinkie was perfect. Through interpretation of her character shown prior, it's fairly easy to understand that Pinkie smiles and laughs for the sake of everypony around her, shown greatly in a few prior episodes where a lot of things didn't go her way due to loneliness. Throughout the episode, she acts as though she's completely oblivious to the Apples and their bickering, but really she's just showing them she trusts them and understands that they're a good family to have even despite how things don't always work out for the best. She's a strong pony that has developed an excellent understandings of the feelings of other ponies since the original pilot episode, where she was more centered around making friends than being friendly. Her craziness is just her way of keeping spirits high and doing her best to show that she does understand. If Pinkie wasn't solidified as my favorite pony before, she's sturdy in the spot now.

Plus, the song was top-notch. The tune was great, the lyrics were great, everything about the song was great. It's definitely one of the better songs of season 4... I'd even put it up there as one of the show's overall finest.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Good job, season 4. Keep up the good work.

This episode kind of annoyed me. I mean, I liked it and thought it was pretty good and funny but I just got annoyed how they just accept Pinkie Pie into their family with no proof. Guess I'm just compulsive and I like the concept of friends being like family to you but it seriously bugs me now how they're like "PINKIE'S AN APPLE" and they're never going to know 100% if the connection is for real.

I'm going to be honest: I didn't care for Pinkie here.

I recently started a thread about my fear she may be flanderizing this season. I was hoping an episode about her would change that.

...it failed to allay my worries. If anything I'm MORE worried :(

The sad part is that there were moments she actually showed some depth & personality beyond being just there for comic relief...which were negated by her being there for just comic relief the rest of the time (especially that damn ending)

That said, I really like it as an Applejack/Apple family episode. I kept thinking "THIS is why Mac and Smith were added to the theme song". I especially like seeing the mask come off and see the Apples getting tense with each other...just like any family on a road trip. It was made even better by the fact they were trying to keep their cool because they had a guest along ^_^ And yes, "Apples to the Core" was a great song (except for the Pinkie parts). Sweet Celstia, even Big Mac was singing! And I gotta admit, I got a laugh out of the little background jokes XD

I still like this episode, but I'm not feeling the Pinkie love as much as everyone else... :(

Ha. I noticed that too. Interesting how almost every reference in this season has been pretty obvious (take the grumpy cat cutie mark in the previous episode for example) and then they throw this in such a way almost nobody notices.

So what are your feelings on this?attachicon.gifslenderman.PNG

What are my feelings on the animators forcing an asinine meme into the show?

Those people are bad and their meme is bad. They will destroy the show given the chance, as will the "fans" encouraging that nonsense.

I didn't even notice it at first. To be honest, I don't even care about this kind of thing.

If they'd showed that during Castle Mane-Ia I would have liked it. In this episode it just clashes so much with everything that I prefer to ignore it.

For dumb, self-important fics about mythology, ponies and fascist griffons that can't figure friendship out.

And I'm just getting started.
