gaming Do you think Pokémon should end already?

I think they should stop. It's getting tiring, and really it's getting to be repetitive, almost like Call of Duty.

If they could change the way the game is, then it wouldn't get so boring. Like they stop and released Pokemon Stadium games. (I miss them a lot... There's only been two...)

To an extent, just like anything that's crazy popular in Japan or here, it will probably never end till it's run to the ground.

While it has overstayed it's welcome, as long as they still profit and manage to make success, I guess there's not much harm in that.

Nope. It's a great franchise with lots of variety and still manages to stay fresh and interesting even over 10 years. If there was a list of game franchises that should end, Pokemon wouldn't even be on it.

I don't believe it should end anytime soon. Eventually they will stop making new Pokemon. Maybe we'll still get new regions, maybe not. Maybe the final games will all be remakes of the older games with the modern graphics? I don't know.

Anyways, I can't see Pokemon ending soon. It's a great franchise that is still popular.

Well, the games still have life in them, I was glad that X and Y introduced less new Pokemon as otherwise it gets too hard to "catch them all".

But I think the anime needs renewing. Ash is boring.

This, right here. Following one protagonist can only last so long.

More on topic, they just need to spice the games up but not create any more Pokemon. I'd like a game that spans every continent (Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, etc.), with more RPG elements and a dynamic story. Yeah, I'm being the demanding fan, but...yeah. Revitalize the series! Heck, Colosseum was a nice departure simply because it was a totally different take on the Pokemon world and lore.

It doesn't help that Ash has basically not changed at all, not learnt anything etc. Of course, this is a problem with many long running cartoons, (Simpsons for one) but at least they are not supposed to be going a journey to become a Pokemon Master.

Game wise I'd also like such a game, could be put on the Wii or WiiU (might get more sales!) and possible have a way to link with handheld games for bonuses in each. If they keep updating the series with new regions and/or Pokemon then the game can have updates as well.

I heard they are getting less creative with the new Pokemon. At the same I want to believe it ran it's course already, but I don't want it to end. I loved the original Pokemon series though....I rather have my kids watch Pokemon than ave them on FB or something.THEY SHALL HAVE A CHILDHOOD! xD

No, I think the fact that Pokemon has been around for this long shows how successful of a series it is.

Why end something that everybody loves and welcomes just because its old?

I don't necessarily think it needs to end but I do think it's a series that could really branch out. Having a more story-centric game might be a good place to go. They did that with Coliseum and DX (though I never played the latter so don't know for sure) and it was met with mild success but there's much more they could do.

Branching out to other genres might serve them well though. Imagine a Pokemon game built in the style of say...Powerstone or Digimon Rumble Arena. I don't care if they can't include all Pokemon as long as they make the ones they do have varied and interesting to use.

Nah, Pokémon can stay, but the anime has run its course. It is in dire need of a reboot.

The games can stay.

For those saying the designers are losing ideas, they had Pokémon based off of, quite literally grime on the floor and quite literally eggs + a ball of yarn back in the day.

The games always tend to bring something original to the table.

I don't think they should stop the games continue to keep getting better. But if they did stop it I would not mind. I have all the classic Pokemon games I adore the most. Pokemon Gold/Silver & Red/Blue are and will always be my all time favorites. When they made remakes for G/S. Soul Silver remains to date my all time favorite pokemon game. I replay it all the time <3

Nah, I know a bunch of people (including myself) who still enjoy the games, and I'm pretty sure there are plenty more I don't know, so I don't think it needs to end. There has been a lot of innovation in the series, and I think they still have plenty of room to innovate in future titles. Plus, it's fun to see all the new Pokemon.

YEES PLEASE STOP THIS MADNESS LOOOK HOW POKEMONS LOOK NOW! THEY NOW LOOK LIKE ICE CREAM, ICE CREAM!

But I like that Pokemon; it's cute...

Yes, because the ice cream pokemon and garbage pokemon are obviously so much less original than muk, voltorb or goldeen... every generation has had its stinkers.

But anyway... No, I don't think it should end. It's a fantastic franchaise that I don't think has reached its full potential. I would like the story to be overhauled though to be more like the gamecube games. The badge collecting has been pointless since the third generation because of the changes in the storyline.

The plot usually rears its climactic head after the 7th gym. You defeat the bad guy, catch the legendary, the plot dies down and you just kind of plunk your way through the 8th gym and the elite four. Well, whoop-de-doo...

What coloseum and XD did differently was have taking down the organization the main plot point, which makes sense with this new story progression. The elite four are supposed to be the strongest trainers in the region, so why is defeating them in the falling action part of the plot diagram?

The shows? Yes. The games? No.

The games can still keep going because they have a weird charm to them. It may be the same thing every game, but the charm to it makes it excusable. There's no charm to just shooting people again and again, which is one of the reasons why franchises like CoD get so much shit from people.

To be fair there are a tonne of long running RPG's developed in Japan. There are plenty of series that have been going for much longer than poke'mon. The upside if you find a good series you've got years worth of gameplay.

Not really. I feel like they add enough changes that the game feels fresh enough to hold interest and still just be just as fun as usual (or just plain better than before). I'm just not getting that "it's really dragging on" feeling yet.
