Rarity fans: Why do you like Rarity?

I think there are many reasons why the fans like Rarity, like her friends she has her flaws but she also has qualities that balance out the quirks that she has and even when you can't relate to her you can still say that she has redeeming qualities to show how she has grown as a character.

She's got a gorgeous design, she's probably the funniest character in the show, her voice is amazing, she can sing very well, and she's an endearingly flawed character who brings a unique personality to the table. There's loads to love about Rarity if you're willing to see it.

Mainly for the scene in s1e1 where her eyes got big at the mention of canterlot. I saw those eyes and (proverbially) was cracked over the back of the head.  My weakness is gorgeous eyes and dangerous levels of beauty.

1) Relatability- This is a major pet peeve of mine. 

 

I don't have to necessarily be a millionaire or a genius to like Batman. I like Batman because, while I can't say I've been in his situation, I can at least understand where he's coming from and see why his issues are actually issues. For Rarity, I can't. I find her more annoying than interesting.

 

 

2) She "complained" and "whined" in one episode, and it was all part of a strategic plan to drive her kidnappers nuts.  Where else does she whine and complain? 

 

"I got my hoof dirty! oh noooo!", "The weather isn't perfect!", etc. She complains all the time.

 

 

3) Kazumi Evans' voice is. by any standard, excellent.I have no idea how anyone could think otherwise.

 

You state this as if it's a fact, then go on to call my next bullet point an "opinion"... I don't like her voice. It doesn't sound good to me. Just like how some people like certain singers while others don't.

 

She's just really annoying in certain episodes, such as Sonic Rainboom.

one of the first things I noticed in the show was that white pony with the endlessly wavy mane, I personally like how her mane tilts back and forth when she moves, I can see that animators put a little more work on her mane than the other ponies manes

Fabulous bump is fabulous. I have recounted the many reasons I adore the character, from her design to her affectations. From her singing VA to the way the writers have used her for both comedy and emotional undertones. In the end, the show keeps surprising me with her evolution. Season Five gave us Detective Rarity and a more matured version. We also finally got substantive Rarity and Rainbow Dash time. I love that she is a great role model for girls and boys. That she is one of the patron ponies for art.

 

But in the end ... I love the character because I didn't love her originally. I dismissed her. Rarity stands as a reminder that I should give some things a second chance, because I can be very very wrong. She reminds me to imagine people complexly.

How can you NOT love a pony that just wants to give you free stuff?!    If "Rarity Takes Manehatten" doesn't spell out why Rarity it awesome, I don't know what will.

 

Besides her epic voice and good looks, I like the duality of her nature.

Remember, she's the element of *GENEROSITY* for a reason.

Sure, she can be a little selfish at times, but she tries extra hard to be generous despite her faults. I think she is well aware of her own faults and tries not to let them define her.

 

And so what if she acts a little girly? It's My Little Pony! It's practically required to have one Girly-Girl pony as the part of the mane cast. And even though we've covered various personalities and broken gender stereotypes with all the other ponies, that doesn't mean that there's no longer any girly-girls out there. I can put on a suit and be just as formal as the next member of high society, but I also know how to slip into a t-shirt and just be bro. Still a guy, after all. And girls, no matter how they live, are still girls. Besides, despite being closer to a gender stereotype, Rarity has broken that image quite a few times herself. 

 

Although, I'm sure I'm not saying anything that hasn't been said all ready.

And maybe I just have a thing for white ponies...

I don't think anything I say will be new; but I still want to put my own opinion into the mix. I love Rarity for quite a few different reasons.

 

Starting with her design, she's just really pleasing to look at and watch on the screen. White, purple, and light blue just go so well together and are really, really appealing. Her design is really unique and just straight up gorgeous.

 

She's really funny; her actions and her words have caused me to laugh out loud many times and she never fails to make me giggle.

 

She's a creative and that really resonates with me. She's an artist living in a small town when she could absolutely be living in the big city. She's trying to sell her art and live her life the way she wants to and that's really respectable. She doesn't just work at the boutique, she's owns it! She's a business woman and a designer and really teaches the younger audience that if you're passionate about something, you can make it work for you. As an artist myself, I understand a lot of Rarity's struggles and have a very easy time relating to her.

 

She likes the finer things in life and is very proper and dainty, but she's not at all useless. She knows how to get herself out of a sticky situation and doesn't let anything get in her way.

 

She's kind and smart and of course, generous, but there's so much more to her than just her generosity. She's an inspiration and an overall fantastic character.

I like Rarity because she is a well-written character with a lot of depth.

She has a great singing voice, and I always enjoy watching her episodes.

She has vain moments, but she makes up for it by being generous, and she cares for her friends.

She is also passionate about her work, and I have major respect for that :grin2:

I personally think most of the hate she gets is unfounded. Also these "why do you like X character" topics are kind of old and I swear we have quite a few for single characters.

4. She is a good role model to the target audience.

Like what most of the others said, she is gorgeous and adorable. She can get whatever she wants with her charming looks. In my opinion I like her because:

 

1. Of all the worst things that could happen, this is THE. WORST. POSSIBLE. THING!

 

2. She is gorgeous and undeniably the best looking pony!

 

3. Colour palette is amazing.

 

4. The mane flips

 

5. Unique English accent

 

6. Feels fabulous by being fabulous

 

7. Best detective in "Rarity Investigates"

 

8. "A Dog And Pony Show" shows she can do anything.

 

9. Any song with Rarity in it is a good song. I mean a FABULOUS song.

Rarity is one of the biggest reasons I got into the show initially, with a character who seemed(and proved to be) as deep as her on there I knew it had to be good.

Also, she's a girl, what do you expect? If anything I'd say Pinkie Pie is girlier, with her extremely high-pitched voice and consistent giggling, plus all the pink.

Got into this show too for the same reason Saw rarity as a meme kinda and used her as a profile picture. After awhile I got curios and watched the show
