Mine is a tie between Twilight, Rarity and Luna. Mush them all together and you get me I voted for Rarity though. Yeah, she can be a bit of a high maintenance, self centered drama queen but everyone is at some point, but making stuff for her friends for free, taking care of herself when no one believes in her, working hard to get to her dream even when she gets knocked down, supporting her friends even when she wants their success (Green isn't your color) is something I admire. And she's funny. To me.

And Twilight, I love her initial anit socialness, bookiness and obsessiveness. Lesson Zero was me to a tee.

Twilight Sparkle! I know I'm examining this too deeply but she seems like such a deep character with a deep tragedy within her.

 

Think about it: She has all of this intellect and can't share it with any other pony. She loves to read and be smart and yet all she seems to want all along was to make friends. There's this need there that she can't get from other ponies until she met the Ponyville ponies.

 

Not to mention she's the easiest to identify with me.

It evolves of course. I still lerve Applejack, and Seafoam is Most Beautiful Pony even with her rather deep voice, Twilight is fantastic pony and Applebloom and more recently Scootaloo are emerging as great characters. Cheerilee's nice too
