Any Moments Or Episodes Involving Your Favorite Pony That You Didn't Like?

Are there any moments in the show or episodes involving your favorite pony that dissapointed you or just made you go seriously WTF? For me it is Somepony To Watch Over Me because of how insanely out of character Applejack was in that episode. We know Applejack can in some circumstances be overprotective but that side was exaggerated way more than was justified without even the slightest semblance of a proper buildup to make any of it believable. I haven't had an episode piss me off this much since Magical Mystery Cure though to be fair this episode thankfully isn't as craptastic as that one.

Sonic Rainboom (the episode.)

I relate to Rarity on a personal level; we're alike in many ways, and, I gotta say, seeing her flaws be put under the spotlight enough to give her a bit of an antagonist's role really bothered me; I was uncomfortable watching the whole episode, and it sorta hurt to watch.

I still refuse to EVER watch that awful episode again :(

I was legitimately uncomfortable during the whole episode, and I just wanted to turn away.

First and only MLP episode I refuse to watch ever again.

Rainbow Falls.

I know you guys hate it when I complain about this episode, but I didn't like this episode. It had one redeeming factor, and not even that could give the episode a saving grace. Anyway, Rainbow Dash actually flying with the Wonderbolts instead of her friends and the fact that the Wonderbolts were attempting to replace Soarin for Rainbow Dash irks me. I'm sorry, I hope to not watch the episode again.

Simple Ways - Seeing Rarity make a complete fool out of her self desperately trying to get Trenderhoof's attention just gets really uncomfortable

The Mysterious Mare Do Well - For similar reasons as the above, but with Rainbow Dash, and a shittier resolution

I REALLY hated Twilight's reasoning in 'Rainbow Falls'. I mean, really? That's your big convincing speech to keep Rainbow on the Ponyville team? Not that you'll be letting down your teammates and friends?

Fluttershy in "Putting your Hoof Down" Totally out of character for her.Even if it was a 3rd party involved that made her the way she was for the duration of the episode. It was a real  WTF episode for me. Yea I get the lesson behind it. But she just acted so...mean....I didn't really like her in that episode...

Or the recent Breezies episode. Why didn't she just use her common sense. Like wtf. I get she's supposed to be caring for them and such. It's just I wish she realized sooner that "Oh, maybe I should get these guys back home, because there's only a limited amount of time".  Rather than near the end of the episode. As I'm sure they could've added more into the episode.

Three moments come to mind for Twilight: When she acted so condescendingly to Pinkie in Baby Cakes, when she basically ignored Spike in Owl's Well That Ends Well, and when she didn't believe Pinkie in Griffon the Brush Off (below).

All three have something in common; I don't think that Twilight meant to act so rudely in any of them, more that she doesn't realize what she's saying/doing might be hurtful. So I feel kind of bad for her.

Nothing, really. Fortunately or unfortunately depending on how you look at it, I take lapses in character as a given considering the inconsistency of our writing squad, as awesome as they all are it's ultimately a kid's show, so shortcuts will be taken that the target audience won't think twice about.

I am so tired of that excuse, yes shortcuts are often taken in these matters but I always thought that we all liked this show because it flied in the face of what is "expected" of a "childrens show" especially a "little girls show". This show raised the bar by giving the finger to that sort of notion but seems to be backsliding on that in season 4 with more inconsistencies than I seen in any other season. That is not to say there weren't good episodes but this trend is a bit worrying.

Haha, there were no bad episodes so far with Luna, or even Celestia, but for Rainbow Dash, eh, Mare Do Well. I actually like the episode, but yeah, even though I fully accept Rainbow for her flaws all the way, it focused on it to the point where it got all-

"Really, Rainbow... just why. What are doing with yourself."

It strongly did when Faust's vision was still the guiding light of the show, but as her influence waned the current writing team takes it in their own direction. That's why 'shortcuts' have seemed more obvious, especially in Season 3. It's gotten a bit better IMO in this season, but still.

  1. The third act of Hurricane Fluttershy. One of the biggest triumphs for her was to glare at the thoughts that resulted in her getting psychologically injured out, pummel right through them, and help the pegasi create enough wingpower to transport the reservoir water to Cloudesdale.

But how was she able to do this? By suddenly having several of the best and fastest fliers on the sidelines because of illness. This is such a contrived form of accomplishing a goal from a writing perspective. To make it worse, Fluttershy is battling a phobia that eats her alive. When you have something sensitive like a psychological phobia, you must take it seriously. Act 3 completely underminded Fluttershy's triumph, the moral, and the whole conflict.

Is it a good episode? Yes. But the poorly executed third act really hurt what it was trying to accomplish.

  2. The middle of Magic Duel.

First, Fluttershy was that doormat in the library.

Second, she reluctantly accepted being the guinea pig to help Twilight. However, instead of rushing in to find Twilight, she decided to willingly abandon her in favor of wanting to go back home.

What the hell? Even by Season 2 standards, this was out of character for her. While she was back to being in character quickly after, I still loathe the badly written approach.

but any other episode shes obnoxious and annoying?

I think she was also pretty awesome in Pinkie Apple Pie but other than that I suppose she was better than season 3 but still meh sadly and I am saying this as a guy who once had Pinkie Pie as his 2nd favorite pony.

Okay so she was pretty good in that episode. But any episode that was not centered around her seemed to make her a little flanderized

 :Someone doesn't like Sonic Rainboom? I always thought that was one of the most universally liked episodes! Or did you just not like Rarity's act in it?

And here I thought the most universally liked episode of season 1 was Suited for Success or Party of One.

Lemme see some of the nicknames I have for that episode...

*shuffles papers*

A-ha! Here we go!

Cancerous, toxic, vile, gutless, soulless, cockroach of an episode.

A boil on the anus of the series.

*Looks over papers once more*

...And some that get increasingly vulgar and NSFW.

I wouldn't let my dog watch that skidmark on the underpants of the show.

I explained my reasoning behind disliking it in the post you quoted :D

And I think the only reason people did like it was because RD did a "Sonic Rainboom" or something. I dunno.

It's an awful episode that I had to turn away several times while I was watching it because I was so uncomfortable and bothered by Rarity's behavior, and the fact I couldn't call it OOC made it so much worse.

I relate to Rarity in many ways; I see some of myself in her, and, I must say, that was kind of insulting to me, the way they played up her flaws in such an extreme way, just to make RD look good in the end.

That legitimately bothered me more than anything in the whole series.

I didn't like it mainly for the sonic rainboom, Although it was awesome. I liked it for RD's character development and pretty much every part except for the stupid bully pegasi. I also didn't really think Rarity held the episode for me personally. But everyone has their own opinions, so I can't convince you to like it.
