Just thought this would be an interesting topic/poll, so what type of landscape/ geographical feature speaks to you? And if possible why?

Mine would be a mountain, especially one with a lot of greenery (like one might see in forested area). As to why, I guess what "Speaks" to me most is their silent, majestic, enduring, power. They don't "show off" in sense, like the ocean might in a storm or a mighty river. A mountain is simply there and endures in a silence that itself speaks louder than a thunderstorm. Also, they might appeal to me because there is something uniquely "Divine" about them; how many times have Myths (using in academic sense, not saying true or untrue) about a Holy Man of some kind hearing from Heaven on a mountaintop.

Got a bit almost poetic or metaphysical there.... So how about everypony else :)

Sorry I left out lakes, hope I didn't forget something else.

I know there's a place you walked
Where love falls from the trees
My heart is like a broken cup
I only feel right on my knees.
I spit out like a sewer hole
Yet still receive your kiss
How can I measure up to anyone now
After such a love as this?

I love (pristine) bodies of water. Lakes, rivers, the ocean, anything, as long as the water isn't stagnant. I've always had a general affinity with water, and the ambient temperature drop that comes with bodies of water gives it a generally 'refreshing' feel. The repetitive motions in bodies of waters (currents, tides, what have you) make them picturesque for me, I don't like scenes that remain static.

I would say a pond/lake, completely surrounded by tall trees, where everything is completely silent. Like, completely undisturbed by the rest of the world. Something like this:

If I ever find something like this, I'm going to sit down, close my eyes and listen to this song. :)

Growing up in the foothills of the Cascade mountains, I'd have to say mountains. Nothing I like more than a pristine Pacific Northwest mountain top, covered in pine trees.

Mountain, tundra, forest, plains and rivers, like in my home country. Mountains and rivers, I'd say speaks to me the most. By the way, it's Herðubreið really awesome mountain. Though I do feel like forests speak equally to me.

Though the best part is a straight long road.

I voted other, because I have a thing for swamps. I just find them to be beatifull, often having interesting flora and fauna. The sounds one can hear at a swamp are very soothing as well, and the whole place is very treacherous, which pulls my artistic string.

Something (or someone) is TRULY discriminated against if we can't talk about it

without any fear of suffering prejudice yourself.

The landscape of a river is so breathtaking and enticing, because it's the majestic and calm feeling when you listen to the water drops coming from a mountain and landing in the river. So peaceful.

I concur with Scoots posts.   I want to also add Oceans for me.  Whenever i feel stress, i drive to the beach and pretty much sleep for about an hour, inhaling the fresh oxygen from the ocean.

I totally agree. Oceans just make you relaxed and down to Earth.

The desert, though I prefer rocky deserts over the more common sand deserts.

The dry earth, the hot air, that sun beating down on you. Admittedly, I've always lived in a place with high humidity so warm (30-32ºC) and humid air is what just passes for normal to me. The desert are for creatures that are resilient, creative and thrifty with their resources where the ecosystems tend to be much simpler. That means fewer predators, diseases and parasites. Especially when you compare deserts to rain forests and swamps... Did I mention I REALLY hate mosquitoes?

So yeah, if I had to choose between heat, food and water being the most of my worries and diseases, parasites and countless predators, I'd take the former every single time.

By the way, this turned out to be purely accidental but it turns out that donkeys (the species of my "pony"-sona) are equines of the desert. For one, they can tolerate losing 30% of their body weight in water, get fully hydrated in just 5 minutes and have incredibly efficient digestive systems.

This is the kind of environment I feel very familiar in.

I'd have to say that the Ocean speaks to me the most, because I lived on the east coast of Florida for a little while, and whenever I needed to think, the beach was a convenient location to meditate on my thoughts.

So we are 15 votes in, and if we were to add up the highest ranking Landscapes in to one (minus the ocean) most of us seem to be thinking something along these lines :

Plains. The sun. The clear blue skies. The flowers. It's the one place I could dream of perfect to simply go frolicking in. Feel the breeze. Wide open areas. It makes me feel at ease, and I love laying down in the soft beds of flowers.

I like forests as well. Not as much, but they speak to me in a different way. Those places where the light shines through the roof of the trees. Zero breeze. Calm lighting. Silence.

Prairies in the winter. The clear, blue skies, blankets of untouched snow as far as the eye can see, and the odd tree white with frost. The air is crisp, and there isn't a sound to be heard. And people call me crazy for liking winter...

Nothing like a good ole dirt road, it's where I grew up, and I'm proud of it! ^_^

Forests. I love nature. Most (90%) of my mountain biking that I do is in forests as well.Just so much fun. Forests are also also so quiet and tranquil.
