It's a possibility. Personaly, I think it might not be true. Of course, there are egg laying mammals, such as the echidna.

 

And then there's the fact that mammilian pokemon hatch from eggs. Including Ponyta.

Nope, that would only tell that they're not pregnant. There are still many options for how do they multiply. E.g. they can use Da Magic Or some version of the Mirror Pool Or by splitting. Or even by explosion

 

 

 

 

What about Changelings? They have some common features with insects. And insects lay eggs.

No, there's Pound Cake who is a Pegasus, but was born in a hospital instead of hatching from an egg.

 

Plus, Pegasi anatomy appears to be mostly Equine with their wings as their only exception so I wouldn't count on them having any other avian features.

 

I would also like to point out that despite taking creatures from various mythologies, artistic liberties are taken for the sake of the show.

I would not think so........just b/c they have wings, doesn't mean they are cold-blooded and have bird like features.   They are Flying Pony's who are categorizes as mammals.  

 

However, in D&D, i do remember hearing about that, but I think it was more complicated than that, for the Pegasi seem to have more features than just a Bronco with Wings.

Obviously, it being originally a kids show, they wouldn't show proof that ponies do or do not mate, but I'm going to go with - yes, MLP ponies do reproduce and have live birth just as real horses do.

It would make more sense to wonder if griffins lay eggs, as they are 'part' bird, but pegasi?

And why would just pegasi lay eggs, anyways? What makes their reproduction systems different from those of earth ponies and unicorns?

But they clearly have no genitals. We've had quite a few shots that were "all up in there" and there was nothing to see. So how do they sexually reproduce?

They're aren't gonna show that stuff in the show, obviously. It's a family friendly show.

It'd be a much different show if they all had their stuff out there for the world to see and they still didn't acknowledge it. x)

There has already been an example of the otherwise, that any race has a different way of reproduction. The Cakes, they have relatives of all the pony races (other than Alicorn), and how would that be possible without an identical reproductive structure?
