EDIT: Nevermind

Yes, Rarity is a stereotype breaker, which I appreciate

Rarity is my second favorite pony because of that

So much win. So much truth. This is one reason MLP FIM is so much better then most childrens shows.

So your argument is that MLP: FiM is the best cartoon ever because it has Rarity in it?

That seems logical to me! :D

Rarity would be my favorite pony... but Fluttershy just steals my heart and I can't deny that. Gotta love Rarity's theatrics, over-the-top drama and shameless hammy antics. When it gets down to it though, she'll throw down with the best of them. Then help you back up, brush you off and give you a coupon for her boutique.

No arguments here. Every episode with Rarity in it just proves how much of a well-defined character she is, as opposed to the stereotype many expected her to fall into the first time they saw her.

its funny. At firdt i hated her but now i love her. Her character is certanly very interesting. I mean she's girly, and a lot of people, guys mostly, claim the show is bad because it's girly. But we guys like girls! And girls are girly! If met a rarity in real life i would find her very very amusing, and the fact that she creates gets her a lot of points

Well, despite what everypony may want to believe, there is always deeper understanding to cartoons. I mean, what that image says is completely correct!

This is so true. If the show didn't bring in new ideas about how people behave like this there wouldnt be a brony community. I mean sure people like the show because of pop-culture references, good animation, intelligent conversations, and stuff like that, but if it had cliched characters and plot like many other cartoons, I would never watch it.

I totally agree with you on that. I suppose the reason MLP became so popular was because of the uncliched characters, as well as all the other stuff you suggested.

She is indeed an excellent example of the refined personality not being presented as the bad guy. Rarity reminds me of heroes like Sherlock Holmes in the sense that she is classy and proper yet badass and intelligent. It seems like most heroes in recent times are always underdogs and every-men, which is certainly relatable for most, but it's also refreshing to see personalities who dare to be amazing in everyday life. Is it any wonder why Rarity (and Rainbow Dash, for similar reasons) is so awesome?

But hey, is this a Rarity fanthread?

It didn't seem so on the OP ...

The point, as i see it, is that MLP FiM breakes stereotypes.

I agree, in other "typical" girlshows and cartoons, Rarity would have been the social nemesis of most of the others, but she breaks that stereotype by being generous.

But if you look at the others, they are also similar stereotype-breakers:

I mean,

Twilight Sparkle is a total geek, who also is a great leader/organizer .... and whose brain starts to malfunctions as her stress increases.

Fluttershy is the whimpy one, but is perfectly able when feeling secure enough.

Pinkie Pie would have just been the local funny'n'cute nutcase, but she's not just that, but also a veritable toon, with method to her madness.

Rainbow Dash breaks the stereotype simply by being a tomboy, instead of a colt/stallion!(too bad, i have heard that in Brazil, she is .. :( )

And AppleJack ... the only reason why she may not seem like breaking the "Southern Belle" stereotype, is probably due to that stereotype already have been broken, in several ways.

Actually i think theres more to it than that. Theres an awful lot of girls TV shows that treat girls like complete idiots, particuarly the older animated ones. Pretty much the only thing that was required was that they were cute. No real conflicts or learning. Just look at your cute animated plushies.

MLP FIM on the other hand features a wide range of cast members with different ways of thinking, hobbies and characteristics. The children may have thier favourites but during the course of the show will learn to respect the other characters, and therfore the people the characatures represent in the real world.

Anyway there a good deal of reasons why MLP is a fine bit of animation.
