"Username" has changed their username from "X" to "X" notification.

Hello! ^^

 

So, I had a thought recently.

 

I bet you can't guess what it is, not like it's in the title or anything.

 

Anyways, jokes aside, I have a suggestion about the username changes.

 

Now, I've noticed how you get 3 changes within 30 days. (Right?)

 

So, if someone changes their username or maybe even twice, how will you know?

 

I think it would be nice to have a notification of it, just so you can know. ^^

 

Note: This would only apply to friends.

 

(Just so if everyone decided to change their name on one day, someone's notification box wouldn't explode.)

 

Example: Adorkable has changed their username from "Adorkable" to "ThatOneSonicFan".

 

Does this sound okay? ^^"

 

I don't think this was already suggested, I searched for it. ^^

Mmm...it's an interesting idea

 

Sometimes,i get lost when someone who i think that i don't know talks to me,and then,later,i discover that he was a friend who changed his username

Yeah, that's a good idea.  Name changes confuse people.  That's why I currently have my former username as my signature.

I wouldn't oppose such a change, but at the same time I don't think it's necessary. Finding out who they are is as simple as visiting their profile and clicking on their name history. 

 

Personally, I think it's kinda fun when a strange username unexpectedly pops up on my feed. I like surprises.

I mean, not knowing that "this person" changed their username could make one think it was either deleted or removed.

I wouldn't confuse people that way; besides, clicking on a person's name and checking their name history is way too tiresome. This'll be useful, especially when a certain FACE is going to impersonate MY FACE!

I'd definitely use this feature as it can get kind of confusing to see who is who after a name change. It's easy to go to their profile and check their name history, of course, but an added notification system that can be switched on and off would be rather helpful.

Again, I don't find it particularly bothersome. Finding out someone's previous identity takes all of two clicks. That, and I already like viewing people's profiles.

 

But it's not a big deal either way. If they decide to implement this, I won't resist it.

I actually suggested this two years ago:

 

How about a feature that gives all friends to a certain user a notification like "Dirty_Harry123 has changed their name to Clean_Harry123"? Then you will know who they are.

 

Sadly, I never heard anything from the administrators about it. @, get in here.

It's not really about it getting passed or not, jokuc just need to demand it but that such a thing does not exist as a default feature for IP.Board and an extension for it does not exist either, at least not when I search on the internet. Either a tech staff will have to write the code for us in order to do so (which I doubt we have the time for, even though it should not be something way too complicated).

 

Or you do it Jokuc style, nag at ask someone who made similar extensions through extremely cheesy messages. In fact, this is exactly what I just did. I will get back to you as soon as I have information about it.

Yeah, there should be something like this here! As many of you stated, name changes can be very helpful, so people like me don't freak out when you think a total stranger's talking to ya!
