With a couple of exceptions (Fimfiction and Equestria Daily, most notably), our community's fan sites and conventions are driven entirely by volunteers. This applies to Poniverse - there is no payroll here. -

technical issue Character Database being cleared?

Thanks for bringing this up, Chip Circuit. I'm testing HTTPS on MLP Forums, and it looks like the character database didn't like that. I set up a workaround for this, so links to the character database are working again. Nothing has been cleared. -

I heartily encourage anyone here who has a knack for art, writing, animation, or music to check out the Teenage Robot Rebooted project. My Life as a Teenage Robot ahead of its time in more ways than one, and has a number of parallels with Friendship is Magic. Have some fan art of the protagonist, Jenny Wakeman (source): Lots of love for Jenny's adventures here. More than half of my lifetime went by between Teenage Robot's premiere and my discovering it late last year; I feel I missed something crazy. Teenage Robot Rebooted is actually one of the first things I came across while searching for what's left of MLaaTR's community - it's the only concerted effort I've found from the show's fans to keep the love alive, and I've been spreading the word in my social circles when appropriate. Having an appreciation for how much work animation is, I'm impressed by the project's perseverance against all the odds. Fun fact: Rob Renzetti, the creator of My Life as a Teenage Robot, was a director on Samurai Jack. He's worked on a number of other awesome shows, including our beloved poni...

There are about five active Poniverse developers right now, myself included. Since PonyRoleplay is a brand new site, it's a great opportunity to try something new. At the time MLP Forums was founded, we found IP.Board to be the best forum software for our needs. XenForo has come a long way in the past three years, however, and we feel it's a better choice for new forum communities today. Some of XenForo's benefits: (relatively) modern MVC-style codebase, which is easier to understand and work with than IP.Board strong user experience is a key focus of the product mobile-friendly out of the box For what we're doing with PonyRoleplay, it makes a great foundation. -

Here's a little list of what's behind our services: MLP Forums is built on IP.Board PonyRoleplay (not launched yet) is on XenForo Equestria.tv is a CyTube fork Pony.fm and Poniverse.net are custom-built entirely by us, using the Laravel and Angular.js frameworks. Most of our code is in PHP, and MariaDB is our database of choice. We have 12 active virtual servers, most of them running Ubuntu Server and on one of two dedicated servers. They're similarly specced, but we have SSD's in one box and HDD's in the other: Intel Xeon E3-1245v2 32 GB RAM Software RAID1 OS/Environment: Proxmox VE -
Not to worry - Poniverse will provide dedicated servers in a real datacentre to host PoniArcade's games. Your home Internet connection won't be sacrificed in the process. If you have experience running game servers, even small ones at home, consider applying!
