The heck? Must be another IP.B 4.0 add-on that Feld0 reactivated. Looking... Okay, yeah, found it. Fixed. Funny thing is, the PoniArcade Ban Disputes section didn't have it turned on.

technical issue Cannot Create Threads in The Feedback Area
Fhaolan replied to Rikifive's topic in Site Questions
I *think* this has been fixed. It's been popping up all over the forums, like in the RP areas and the like. Basically, in the previous version of the forums we had an add-in that allowed certain sub-forums to have a special Terms of Service notice. A thing you had to acknowledge to be allowed to post new threads in that section, something like 'Yes, this is the Debate Pit, but that doesn't mean the rules against personal attacks doesn't apply here.' kind of thing. When we move to IP.B 4.0, a lot of the add-ins stopped working. Feld0 just recently re-installed new 4.0 versions of some of those add-ins, including this 'New Topic Rules' one. Problem being, it seems to have gone bonkers in this new version. It lost the text of any of the specialty ToS's, and started popping that EX0 error instead on any of the sub-forums that used to have specialty ToS's. Once people started reporting this issue, Feld0 found out what it was and disabled the add-on in some of the sub-forums where the issue was first reported (the RP World area). I *just* finished grinding through the entire forum and turning it off everywhere.- 3 replies

Coming from a person who's been watching Doctor Who since the 1970's... They've been hinting at a female Doctor for a *very* long time, since before the modern series. So it's not that big of a deal. I'm more interested in whether she can bring something to the role and whether the directors/producers will *let* her. Peter Capaldi had a lot of promise, but in my opinion he was hobbled by the production team and was only allowed to play his Doctor in fits and starts. So given we're dealing with a lot of new people in the DW production team *as well* as a new primary actor, there's really no way to tell how this is going to go yet.

That was a specific request from Feld0 to change, as when Poniverse got incorporated last year 'Member' gained a specific, legal meaning for the company. And the members of this forum weren't 'Members' of Poniverse, so Feld0 had me change the user group name to something else. User was the only thing I could think of at the time that wasn't already being used somewhere else. 150x150 is currently the profile pic dimensions. It's supposed to be so that subscribers and staff get taller ones, but the 4.0 upgrade buggered that up. The current options allow bigger profile pics for different groups, but they still have to be square which means the page layout will go weird. So that option has been turned off for the moment until we figure something out. Plus avatars are limited to 150kB in size. Cover pics are weird and new so I haven't quite figured it out. The system doesn't specify dimensions in the options, but it does say they're limited to 500kB in size. It seems to rescale to some extent, but I'm not quite sure what it thinks it's doing in there.

More official stuff from Hasbro... Since I've started posting these, (we've been getting them for awhile, but I wasn't sure what to do with them to be honest) I'm wondering if we need a new section just for official Hasbro/MLP announcements/press releases. -- For fans of the popular My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic TV series, Hasbro is introducing PonyChat, the official, kid-hosted My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic aftershow. As one of the newest kid-focused after shows on the market, PonyChat will give My Little Pony fans a behind the scenes opportunity with storywriters, fans and parents to discuss important themes, friendship lessons and character developments throughout the Friendship Is Magic series. PonyChat will consist of a 6 episode mini-series, each hosted by the ultimate fans, 6-10 year old boys and girls, which will be hosted on My Little Pony’s official Facebook Page and YouTube Channel . Today, the first episode of PonyChat went up! You can view the video at the link here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eOjf0mCpJ9g The first episode gives a look back at My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic season 7: Not Asking for Trouble. In this episode, the two hosts reenact scenes, have an ice cream social and use pony magic to meet up with some special friends! Okay, out of curiosity, what happens if you do the attachment upload on your PC, rather than the drag-and-drop method? Ignoring the smartphone for the moment just to gather more information. :/

Long, long ago, I ran a tabletop RPG that has 20-some players. It... didn't work, got bogged down and fell apart rather rapidly. But apparently someone has figured out a way to make them work. Day-long tabletop games with up to *300* people in them on themes like alien invasions, zombie apocalypses, massive dungeon crawls, etc. So my question is, has anyone here done one of these? How did it go? I've seen videos on YouTube about them, but the videos seem to point out the bits to me that make me concerned. 1) That's a lot of people, most of whom you don't know personally. So like MMO's it would be really easy for a small group of trolls to ruin the experience for everyone, or on the exact opposite end having a couple of people take it *so* seriously that it effectively does the same thing (On the renfaire/reenactment circuit these are called 'stitchcounters', because they actually whine about how historically clothing would only have x stitches per inch, not y stitches per inch like *your* outfit. I dunno if there's an equivalent term in gaming.) And because of the nature of the game, once the trolls/stitchcounters have done their work, that game is *done*. Your day is wasted. 2) The games are bounded by a RL time limit (6-8 hours), so in many of the videos I don't see them reaching an actual resolution to the game. They just ... end with a time-out. And it's not like you can come back next session to continue it, once the game is over it's over. I dunno how I'd feel about that.

Yeah, there have been a lot of changes. There was a forced upgrade on the forum software we use, InvisionPower.Board or IP.B. We were on version 3, and they were shutting off all security updates for it. Originally the plan was to replace IP.B with something custom before IP.B3 got shut off, but lack or resources for that meant we ran out of time. So our sysadmins emergency upgraded us to IP.B 4. Problem is, a lot of the customization that was done to MLPF didn't carry over with the upgrade plus several add-ons we used were not available for 4.0. Unfortunately not long after the upgrade and before all the resulting issues from it had been fixed, we lost our dedicated MLPF developers to RL commitments. So we're kinda stuck until Feld0 and AppleDashPoni can get more developers hired on and assigned to MLPF or some of those other projects get completed so those people can come over here and help. In the mean time, Community Admins like me are trying to figure out if there's any way to fix some of these things through the tools we're given access to. I still think I *should* be able to fix the character sheet displays, but the templates for it are spread between two different tools, one of which doesn't have a search function needed to track down exactly where the formatting is taking place. The Everfree Empire character sheets are displaying... better... than the Equestrian Empire ones, but I can't figure out how one is pointing to one set of templates, and the other is pointing at another. When I make changes, nothing seems to actually change. Honestly, I wish the character sheets were structured wiki style, so that you could go nuts with the formatting. It's the way another RP site I used to hang out in did things. They had a base form to fill out when creating your character, but once it was created you could use BBCode/wiki markup on the whole thing, including tagging for searches and standardized data sheets. Made it so you could really *personalize* your character the way Tabletop gamers do with custom character sheets, miniatures, etc. But that's a touch beyond. At the moment I'd just be happy with a readable database display.

Let's see: 4:30 am, start the process of waking up. 5:00 am: Go outside to move the sheep and horses to their correct pasture for that day. Feed and water those who are on stall rest for whatever reason, and give morning grain and medication to the retired Belgian with arthritis. 6:00 am: Have a shower, and eat breakfast. Feed the dog and cat. 6:30 am: Log on to work (Microsoft) and check what blew up overnight. Or on certain days, drive into the office (2 hours one way). 7:00 am - 5:00 pm: have pointless meetings preventing me from actually getting any work done. 5:00 pm: On certain days, drive back home (2 hours), otherwise clean livestock stalls (shovel manure, add sawdust if necessary). Feed and water the whole barn, including evening medication for the retired Belgian. 7:00 pm: Feed the dog and cat again. Have dinner with wife, and watch some TV. 9:00 pm: Work on hobby things. Woodworking, drawing, writing, etc. Check forums and various Poniverse social media to see if anything needs my attention specifically. 11:00 pm: Pretend to log off and go to sleep. 1:00 am: Actually go to sleep. Nah, we like her better.

I'm being told that we're really light on MLPF developer-types. As in we don't actually have any. All our Poniverse developers are on other projects right now. So if anyone is interested, I recommend sending a message to @AppleDashPoni or @Feld0 about joining the team as a developer...
-
Yeah, that's me. The sword is actually the odd-thing-out as it's a 15th century Danish two-hander (Oakeshott XVIIIe), while the rest is much earlier period (10th century and back). I have period-appropriate swords but the casting director wanted bigger weapons for everyone because the thing was a 'Heavy Metal Opera' and the only sword I have that's bigger is a 16th century slaughtersword (Isn't in the Oakeshott classification system)... which I ended up using in the show but I didn't bring it to that particular photoshoot as the script notes had me 'drawing my sword' and you can't put a slaughtersword in a scabbard, you carry it like a polearm.
-
Yeah, I noticed this too a bit ago and tried to figure out if there was any way to fix it from my side. The problem is the template is 'escaping' the HTML codes that the editor is automatically using. The previous version of the Editor used BBCode instead of HTML for formatting to avoid the security issue of injected code, same way most wiki's do. For some reason IPB4 got rid of BBCode... but it looks like they didn't finish the process. I wasn't able to find an obvious solution with the tools I have access to. This is one of those things someone with backend code/db access needs to look at. Unfortunately.

I haven't seen the specials yet, but with the previous outings I'm still of the opinion that the EqG universe isn't actually a full universe. I'm suspicious that accessing it via a mirror is a telling point. That it's a 'parasitic' universe that is dependent on the main FiM universe; it's *forced* to reflect the events and characters of the FiM universe through a lens set up when the mirror was created, and that the only things that are 'real' in there are the creatures that enter it via the mirror. Basically Sunset and the Sirens are real (and Twilight & Spike when they go in) and everything else, including the human AJ, RD, FS, etc. exist only as reflections. Any deviations from the FiM characters is because of Sunset/Sirens/Twilight/Spike's influence on them, or because the reflection is distorted in a specific way (like a funhouse mirror). A more modern way of looking at it is that the universe is a simulation set up by Starswirl as a prison for the Sirens. It was never meant to be a complete universe to begin with and it has a default setting of 'reflect the current events of FiM' to keep it going.

A photographer friend of mine found this on an old memory card, it was taken some time in 2014. Given the background and the exact equipment I'm wearing, I *think* it was during a photo shoot for an Aeterno Elementum promotional video... which I don't think ever got released. I've been in a lot of productions that never got released, side effect of never really taking my 'acting career' seriously and just doing things when a friend says they need to fill space on a stage.
-
It's one of the side effects of rapidly approaching my first half-century. Wait until I get near my third or fourth, *then* the stories will get interesting. Mainly because I'll be just as surprised as you are. I like a wide variety of foods. I like meat pies, but not the ones you regularly get in the US as those tend to be more gravy than pie. I prefer the dry ones like tourtiere, Melton Mowbray, steak and kidney pie, bridies and pasties, so on and so forth. Stuff I can pack so I can spend the day out in the fields or in the woods doing whatever rather than stuff you have to make a production out of.
-
Actually I prefer oat biscuits, but they're annoying to find in this area. That's a hard one, mainly because the more recent ones are clearer in my mind, but the oldest one had the most effect on me. The old one... well, back when I was really little (about 7 or 8) we went to Disney World in Florida. I was really into sci-fi at the time, avid Doctor Who and Star Trek fan, Starlost, the Six Million Dollar Man, Space 1999, that kind of thing. It was the 70's, Star Wars hadn't happened yet. Anycase, it was the first year for Space Mountain, the indoors rollercoaster, and I *had* to go on it and I was technically tall enough. But they made me take off my glasses so they wouldn't fly off during the ride. So I basically went through the ride half-blind, only able to see blurry flashing lights and randomly being thrown about only barely staying in the car by holding on to the safety bar for dear life. Ever since I have problems with falling. Not heights or vertigo or anything like that, just the *sensation* of falling any significant distance. My body completely locks up, and given that later, in my 20's I was a heavy eventer (caber toss, hammer throw, farmer's walk, and so on) I was... capable of damaging the equipment at carnival rides. I was banned from several places when I tried to take on my phobia head on. The newest one is a bit sillier. A little less than 10 years ago I was a performer, doing stage combat for plays, student films, and events like ren faires. Boxing, wrestling, swordfighting, etc. Not real fighting, but the choreographed stuff. I was doing a Shakespeare festival where the troupe I was in was doing a parody play as if I, as Shakespeare, was writing something live with audience participation with lots of fighting and murder and nonsense as you would expect. We weren't on stage, but on a field because we actually had horses for the knights to do 'realistic' battle scenes. The end of the 'play' was pre-written unlike the rest of it, where I (Shakespeare) would get so frustrated at the whole thing because the 'actors' were messing up constantly that I would grab a spear myself, run out onto the field and 'kill' everyone. Because that's the way a Shakespeare play *ends* dammit! Except when I did, my foot went down a rabbit hole we hadn't noticed before. I fell forward and followed my stage combat training to twist around so I landed safely on my back. Except my leg, caught in the hole, didn't turn with me. Instead it folded the wrong way and the ligaments in my knee snapped. Didn't feel it so I tried to stand up, and fell over again. My leg was bent in a completely unnatural way and it terrified me because *I couldn't feel it*. I had to have surgery to be able to walk again, and had to give up performing for the most part. I still tried to do a few shows after the surgery, but it's hard to do stage combat if you can't jog or do hard turns.

Yeah, that's Zalgo. It's not *really* against the rules, it's just annoying and some older and mobile browsers barf on it, preventing you from clicking on stuff it's covering, or even to the point of crashing on some of the more antique browsers. So we normally remove it if it's in Statuses or Posts, and wag a finger at the people doing it. Lenny likely can remove if it from his PM if it annoys you.

Actually, Jeric, they've made it more difficult than before with this new version. The Editor isn't in the templates anymore, it has it's own 'skinning' system independent to the forum templates. And regular Admins can only see the front end of the skinning system. So we can select what buttons appear on the editor, but we don't have direct access to the css or templates for the Editor. As I understand it the devs are trying to build new 'skins' to load into the system, but it's being... recalcitrant.

I had an odd thought, give me a second to work it out:

Sure! It's probably easy enough, but even with the upgrade the permission settings on this thing is a bit of a mess back there making it tricky to find individual settings. That 'allow people to hide their own content' function might be an add-on as well, so it might not be native to IP.B requiring us to get that add-on (which might have a one-time cost, or even a subscription fee to be able to install. It varies.)
