  1. I noticed that during this year's BronyCon too, as like the last one. The thing is, I always got this sort of gut feeling that Andrea isn't really comfortable with all the attention and physical contacts she's getting, it's just something about the way she reacts to fanboying/fangirling and offers of physical contact that seemed really familiar to me, since I do have a handful of friends who virtually avoid such things like the plague. Hence, I never asked her for any form physical contact (I never asked for one from any VIPs to begin with), which is why I was genuinely surprised last year when she offered me a handshake last year. She did not this year, but I went with the traditional Chinese fist in palm gesture. In conclusion, please treat VIPs with respect, as you would with any other human beings. You would be quite surprised how many VIPs would really appreciate being treated like a normal person. Also, if the VIP in question prefers not to have physical contact, there are plenty of other ways to show appreciation, without the involvement of physical contact.

  4. Like many other passions, you may join for one specific reason, but you stay for many others.
  5. I read from numerous sources that apparently LASIK is preferably for more severe eye conditions, which means it is not recommended for those with mild conditions. I have mild myopia, I could still function without glasses, but I wouldn't be able to see the details or read signs from afar (hence needing glasses to drive). Still, even mild myopia really sucks (I personally do not like wearing glasses), as my visions are just blurry enough to not see the details or render me unable to read street signs from afar, yet considered not severe enough for LASIK.
  6. I am looking forward to meeting some Poniverse folks at their panel in BronyCon.

  8. Fluent in Mandarin and English here. - Learning multiple languages allows you to understand one concept in different manners. The way an American interprets a concept could be quite different from the way a Chinese interprets, which is why translation is pretty hard if you don't want to lose certain contexts that are only available through certain languages. - Language is more than just a means to communicate, you can also dive into a group's culture, history, and way of life through it. For example, with Chinese you have characters that are originally pictographs that literally represent the concept it's trying to describe. The character 水 (water) is originally written in a manner to literally resemble a flowing river. How the Chinese language system tends to use imagery resonates well with traditional Chinese values.

  12. This is quite an uneven cultural exchange, given that mlp is rated Y while humanity's history would probably be MA if it were a TV show. Some of the ponies are going to freak out, just like how some of us freak out when we look back at history, but I'm sure there are some ponies who could take it in. Equestria has its dark moments too, but since everything has to be kept at a Y level, it's not going to be nearly as dark as humanity, or at the very least, the very dark aspects of Equestria are never going to be shown in the show at all. With that being said, I'll be straightforward. Humanity had a dark and bloody history. However, it is also this dark and bloody history that allowed us to grow and improve. True, every now and then some of us think of new ways to do something messed up, but as a response some of us also think of new ways to improve ourselves upon that.
