  1. In light of all these devastating recent events, I just wanted to post about one of my favorite charities, Samaritan's Purse International Relief. Samaritan's Purse provides disaster and medical relief all over the world, including the hurricanes that hit Puerto Rico, Texas, and Florida. Click on the link below to donate: https://www.samaritanspurse.org/donation-items/hurricane-relief-general/ I've also included a link to Global Giving for Mexico Earthquake Relief and the Gofundme page for victims of the Las Vegas shooting: https://www.globalgiving.org/projects/mexico-earthquake-relief-fund/ https://www.gofundme.com/dr2ks2-las-vegas-victims-fund Another Samaritan's Purse project I wanted to talk about is one they do every year around Christmas called Operation Christmas Child (OCC). OCC is a project in which donors fill shoebox-sized boxes with toys, school supplies, and practical items. These boxes are distributed around the world to needy children living in impoverished countries who might otherwise not receive anything at all. https://www.samaritanspurse.org/operation-christmas-child/what-goes-in-my-shoebox-suggestions/ Please consider giving and show your support. And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me. - Matthew 25:40 (KJV)
  2. They sometimes also sell them at Wal-Mart or Toys R' Us and they probably have them on Amazon.
  3. I made a Youtube video showing my entire MLP collection including Tara Strong's autograph and the infamous Queen Chrysalis bootleg plushie:
  4. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turn:_Washington's_Spies The show has been on for a while (in fact it just ended) and hasn't be the most popular series but has a devoted cult following (which I'm a part of). While it plays fast and loose with historical accuracy (and some illogical story moments) it had really strong character development and it's probably the only serious modern drama about the American Revolution we're gonna get (no, Mel Gibson's "The Patriot" doesn't count) Has anyone else here seen it?
  5. Ideal date be like sophistacted but also friendly, and perhaps a bit older, like a teacher or proffesor.
  6. In 2014, Sainsbury's made an ad commemorating the 100th anniversary of the 1914 Christmas Truce of WWI. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christmas_truce The Christmas truce (German: Weihnachtsfrieden; French: Trêve de Noël) refers to a series of widespread but unofficial ceasefires along the Western Front of World War I around Christmas 1914. In the week leading up to the holiday, French, German and British soldiers crossed trenches to exchange seasonal greetings and talk. In some areas, men from both sides ventured into no man's land on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day to mingle and exchange food and souvenirs. There were joint burial ceremonies and prisoner swaps, while several meetings ended in carol-singing. Men played games of football with one another, giving one of the most memorable images of the truce. Peaceful behaviour was not ubiquitous; fighting continued in some sectors, while in others the sides settled on little more than arrangements to recover bodies. My reaction: 13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, 14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men. - Luke 2:13-14 (KJV) Oops. Forgot to embed the videos. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6KHoVBK2EVE My reaction: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7kQukPQDSag
  7. I have mixed feelings about this.
  8. Not saying this is necessarily a bad thing, but it seems to me that the recent trend in critically acclaimed shows is to take an established movie genre or theme and make a dark and lurid arc-driven series out of it. Following that trend, here are my predictions for the next ten years of television. Game of Thrones (in space - possibly based off C.S. Lewis' Space Trilogy) Game of Thrones (steampunk edition) Game of Thrones (cyberpunk edition) Game of Thrones (Napoleonic edition) Discworld - The Series Doctor Who: Doctors 15 through 20 - (with a female and/or African Doctor) American series attempt at J-Horror (The Ring, The Grudge, etc.) Star Wars (bounty hunter based series) Alien - The Series
  9. The Zouaves were a class of light infantry regiments of the French Army serving between 1830 and 1962 and linked to French North Africa, as well as some units of other countries modelled upon them. The zouaves, along with the indigenous Tirailleurs Algeriens, were among the most decorated units of the French Army. Numerous Zouave regiments were organized from soldiers of the United States of America who adopted the name and the North African–inspired uniforms during the American Civil War.[28] The Union army had more than seventy volunteer Zouave regiments throughout the conflict, while the Confederates fielded about twenty-five Zouave companies. Cuirassiers (/ˌkwɪrəˈsɪər/, from French cuirassier,[1]pronounced: [kɥiʁasje]) were cavalry equipped with armour and firearms, first appearing in late 15th-century Europe. This French term means "one with a cuirass" (cuirasse), the breastplate armour which they wore.[2] The first cuirassiers were produced as a result of armoured cavalry, such as the man-at-arms and demi-lancer, discarding their lances and adopting the use of pistols as their primary weapon. Use of the Totenkopf as a military insignia began under Frederick the Great, who formed a regiment of Hussar cavalry in the Prussian army commanded by Colonel von Ruesch, the Husaren-Regiment Nr. 5 (von Ruesch). It adopted a black uniform with a Totenkopf emblazoned on the front of its mirlitons and wore it on the field in the War of Austrian Succession and in the Seven Years' War.
  10. "Everypony" and "anypony" is exclusionary language that leave out dragons, zebras, griffons, minotaurs, etc.
  11. I don't know what the writers are thinking. Starlight and Discord both carry on with their same old shenanigans and manipulation even thought they're supposed to be reformed and sympathetic now.
  12. I broke down and returned it to Walmart and thankfully got a refund, only to buy the same model plush the next week. I scratched the eyes to be sure and the paint didn't scrape so I guess this one will hold up better.
  13. I'm 27 years old but I don't feel young.
  14. I bought one of the Funrise brand Rarity plush toys with shoestring hair a week ago and today the paint/vinyl had scraped off the eyes, leaving them blank white. I bought a Funrise Vinyl Scratch three years ago and still have it and so far none of the paint has scrapped off the glasses. Anyone else have any issues?
  15. Seems like things turned well then. Glad you got a good rating. What was the name of one of your panels? I might have seen it.
  16. Sorry I missed you at animazement. I had to get some sleep in so I showed up relatively late each day. How was your panel?
  17. I'll try to find you and mention MLP forums if I can. I know at least one day I'll be wearing a poorly done Kylo Ren costume.
  18. I'll try to find you. Are you running the panel on a particular day? (Also, where did you find that profile pic? It's pretty creepy.
  19. I don't really use Facebook that much either.
  20. Yeah. I don't really see anyone I knew from school anymore except for 2 guys I see about every 2 months.
  21. Thanks. I actually haven't talked to him in a long while since he got married.
