  1. Just so you know @Best Username Ever, I have merged your thread with this one, as both were created for the discussion of famous bronies. In the future, please be sure to use the search function to find out if your topic already exists before creating a new thread. This helps avoid any confusion that multiple threads tend to create and it helps keep the forums a bit tidier. Thank you and take care!
  2. This thread appears to be related to the My Little Pony franchise and/or the Bronydom in general. Thus, it has been sentenced to Sugarcube Corner.
  3. Hello @PrincessKaydense! I just wanted to let you know that I have moved your thread to the Creative Resources section, as you are seeking assistance in some sort of creative and artistic project while the 'Ask a Pony' section is for members to ask questions to other user's OCs. Sadly, I have very little experience with cosplay, so I am afraid I will be of very little help. Though cosplay can be quite expensive, that just gives you more liberties to be creative if money is an issue. Plus, it is not about how much you spend but whether you are enjoying yourself. Even some pink hair dye, pink skirt and balloons would be a suitable ensemble for Pinkie Pie. Best of luck!
  4. Hello @Derpy Dash517. Just so you know, the Fan Music section is used primarily to display your work and gather any opinions, advice and critique to help improve upon your future musical efforts. As you seem to be seeking inspiration for writing songs, I have moved your thread the the Creative Resources section, where other members can hep you further. When trying to come up with ideas, it is best to start more general and broad and specify further once you have a foundation to work upon. Inspiration and ideas can come in varying forms, sometimes when you least suspect it. To get the most out of brainstorming, it is best to stick with what you personally enjoy and work from there. For instance, what genre of music do you enjoy, what artists do you hold in high regard, what are you generally interested in, who are your favorite characters among the show, etc. Yes, you can watch the show to gather ideas for your music and that may be enough. However, there is a plethora of resources outside of the show that would be a terrible waste to neglect. Build your foundation, work from there and you may be surprised by the results. I wish you the best with your endeavors and I hope that I was able to help in some way. Take care.
  5. I am overjoyed to hear that you have escaped that miserable abyss and are slowly making you way back to your artistic ways. Any progress is good progress, so no need to rush into it. It is also amazing the impact change (whether minor or major) can have on one's life and what new doors can open because of it. This certainly is a new style of drawing for you and what a drastic overhaul when comparing both of these pictures. I am both curious and eager to see where it takes you if you plan on pursuing it further in the future with such experimentation which can lead to very interesting and fun results. And Soarin with his little pie is just adorable! The only aspect that seems amiss to me is the back of the head seems too small, more so on the revised Dr. Whooves doodle. Otherwise, I am enjoying this change-up immensely. I do hope that everything is well for you and that I will have the pleasure of seeing more from you in the future. Take care and nice work again.
  6. I am not a particular fan on anthro, but that certainly does not detract from a well-done piece such as this. Both Luna and Celestia look great in these and still look both quite regal and benevolent. One thing I am curious about is why you do not care for drawing Celestia? Nothing particularly wrong with it, but merely a curious inquisition. Anyway, very nice work with these!. There is such much great art flooding in here that I can hardly keep up...
  7. Impressive work, as always, Casy! The progression shots you have shared are a nice addition, as I always enjoy to see an artist's progress from start to finish on a piece; it helps give insight on a artist's individual process. Your style is also quite refreshing and I can see the subtle changes from your previous works to these most recent pieces, which are still unique and display how diverse your artistic abilities are. One question I must ask is if you have found influence or inspiration from other artists that has had an impact on your own work? What more can I really say about these two lovely displays of your skills? They are certainly well done, with a solid use of anatomy while still maintaining a very unique aesthetic and I cannot wait to see more. Keep up the great work!
  8. I have to say that Derpy with a ponytail is quite adorable. Why is that almost any pony that has is given that hairstyle looks rather fitting with it? Or it could be a personal preference for me. But, I digress, these pictures are all nicely done. The anatomy is rather solid and they are colored nicely. As far the use of periwinkle, it is not a bad choice and if toned down a bit, it would be rather close to Derpy's color. The only thing I would suggest pertains to the first two drawings and that would be to color in the pupils; it just looks a tad off without the black of the pupils. I do hope to see more of your work soon, so happy drawing and keep it up!
  9. Just so you know , there is already a thread about favorite colors and I have merged your thread with that one. In the future, please be sure to use the search function to be sure if your topic of discussion already exists before creating a new thread. This tends to keep the forums more organized and avoid any confusion that multiple threads can cause. And since I am here, I tend to favor cooler colors, such as cerulean blue and lavender. But every color has its place to me, so it is rather difficult to choose just a favorite or two
  10. @DiscordAnarchy There is actually already a thread on this very sort of discussion, so I have merged your thread with that one. In the future, please be sure to use the search bar to see if your topic already exists before creating a new thread. It tends to keep things tidy around here and to avoid any potential confusion Take care. As far as what I have bought recently, a couple newspaper print drawing pads; nothing particularly exciting.
  11. Hello [MLPFan15]. First off, welcome to the forums! Secoondly, I can see that you have already made an introductory thread in the Welcoming Plaza, which we like to limit to each member having on to avoid any confusion and so that you may be welcomed properly. It seems that the point of this thread is trying to find members to chat with on Skype rather than making a proper introduction, which would be more appropriate as a status update. There is also the Skype Master Thread if you are interested in finding other members who use Skype. Bearing all of this in mind, this thread will now be locked.
  12. Hello @Mr. Critical. As you are seeking critique and input for your character that you have created, your thread has been moved to the Non-Pony Artwork section. Given that I know little pertaining to comic book superheroes, I would not be able to offer much help in fleshing out the backstory of your character. The only additions I would suggest for the character himself is to add more about his personality, as all we know of him as of now is that he is rather intimidating but with not killing instinct. You could also go further as to what brought about his selection to be in the Sinestro Corps and other such details. On the drawing itself, however, is where I can offer the most input. However, without more information on the character, my critiques could be found rather baseless. Anyway, seeing as he seems to be in his teenage years, the attire chosen would be fitting (if a little overused) for one that would be considered a loner, which would also constitute to the intimidation factor. However, the spikes on the shoulder seem rather unncessary to me and may be better off removed. The proportions would also need to be adjusted, as his arms and legs are of differing lengths right now. Keep in mind that these are simply my opinions but I hope they were a help in some way. Overall, this is a fine start to a character with simple need of being fleshed out a little more in his backstory and personality. Best of luck!
  13. I will say, first and foremost, that I adore seeing comparitive pieces such as these as it gives a look into how much an artist has grown and improved over time. And the best gifts that can ever be given are those that are made yourself and are from the heart, which I am sure that your sister was very pleased with this cute drawing here. Though there is nothing wrong with the first drawing by any stretch, this newest drawing is simply more appealing to look at. It simply has a bit more liveliness to it, as opposed to the first one that seems rather static in comparison and is in a pose that has been seen quite frequently. The second picture also feels a bit more unique as far as style; it may be a minute difference but it shows to me and gives it the piece a mor personalized touch from you. Overall, both of these pictures are good but it is clear to see the progress you have made over these few months, as the same can be said with all the other works that you have posted over time. What more can I say but nice work!
  14. Shining Armor's portrayl in the comics was certainly not what I was expecting but I was hardly disappointed by the course the writers chose, giving him a bit more depth in character and personality. Ah, but I seem to be side-stepping the actual topic.... But what lovely timing for this picture, with Valentine's Day (Or Hearts and Hooves Day, if you prefer), right around the corner. This is such a lovely scene in so many ways and I am glad to see that you drew 'high school' Cadence in this piece; I just loved that design in the comics for some reason. Aside from Shining Armor's eye being a bit too far back and perhaps the necks being slightly too long, I can see nothing else that may need looked over again. The scene is simple but effective, lines and colors are solid and the drawing overall is just a joy to look at. I just wish I had more to say on this one... Again, great job with this one and I cannot wait to see more from you!
  15. A drawing does not have to adhere to the aesthetics of the show to be conisdered good. In fact, it can be quite refreshing to see a differing perspective on drawing something such as ponies and what can be created from it. With that being said, this is a well-drawn piece here and you did a wonderful job on your first attempt. The anatomy is quite solid and is on the more realisitic side of the styling spectrum. The use of sharper angles on certain parts of the anatomy also gives it a more unique and stylzed looks, which I feel works rather well for this picture. The one area that I feel needs a slight adjustment is the muzzle, but that could be me nitpicking. Overall, this is a great start and I do hope to see more of your drawings in the future. Take care and happy drawing!
  16. This is quite a impressive display of improvement of these past several months. Both drawings by themselves are quite good, bt the comparison is quite astounding. You have really sharpened up your line work, which gives your newest attempt a more clean look to it. The basic anatomy also seems to have enhanced and the entire picture looks that much closer to the styling of the show. Congratulations and praise are certainly in order, and I look forward to seeing your improvement far into the future. Keep up the great work and keep on drawing!
  17. You do not need to thank me, but you are more than welcome all the same. Stress has a devious way of undermining even the most valiant of efforts and the most resilient of minds. This does not make you simple nor weak, but human. You are stronger than you give yourself credit for, moreso considering what challenges still await you. As I said before, you do not have to face these alone. I am glad to hear that you have decided not to give up, as it would be a shame for such an aspiring artist to leave so prematurely with yet untapped potential. You raise a good point as well, that there is more than one outlet for artistic individuals and sewing sounds like a pleasant alternative. I would not mind seeing your work in that area as well. Might I aslo suggest sculpting with Super Sculpty or something similar? I have found that this can be both a relaxing and absolutely fun way to pass the time while still keeping your creative mind going. Granted my attempts amount to nothing but dirty hands and a weird blob, but I can at least laugh at my miserable creation and try again. Regardless, I do wish the best for you and I hope that you find yourself in calmer skies soon. Take care.
  18. Believe me when I say that I completely empathize with you and your mindset on your work, as I share the same perspective on my own limited artistic abilities. I am also aware that I will most likely contribute little to nothing that will change your mind and alter the path that you have described. But damn me if I will not try anyway! One thing I will empashize right now is that the artist is always their worst and most demoralizing critic. But, just like any other critic, you must take the good with the bad; to take what is progressive thinking and continually improve your work upon that while pushing aside those that are only meant to hinder. You skill with colored pencil, as you have demonstrated with your Power Pony piece and a recent Pinkie Pie/Gummy one, honestly has me envious of your abilities with the medium. Your drawings by themselves also possess a unique style all your own, which I find enjoyable to look at (some even giving me a good chuckle and a smile). As I said, I have been in your position before, where nothing was good enough in my eye both in drawing and life itself. Several times, in fact with a couple instances that I have walked away from art and disposed of anything that would bring back memories of my 'failure.' But one cannot hope to improve if they lie down and give in. If you do find enjoyment in what you do despite what you may feel as inadequate, then you would be doing a disservice to yourself by backing away now. I believe the best thing you can do for yourself is to take a step back and consider several things: what are you current strengths and weaknesses, what do you like and dislike about your work, what do you need to improve upon, what course of action would you proceed with to improve, what do you wish to accomplish with your art, are you happy when you draw (and, if not, what reasons are there for this). To gain this overall perspective on your work will give you more clarity on what you need to focus on and what needs to be done to attain what goals you may have. Art is not an easy path to travel along, as it does take much dedication, study, time, pratice and, most importantly, patience. It is soley up to you to continue the journey that you have started and if you ultimately do decide to seperate from it, I am sure everyone will respect your decision. But also remember that if you do pick up the pencil again, there are those that will be there to support you and willing to take every step along side you to help you reach your potential (myself included). For now, take this chance to relax and step away for a moment, as you have more than earned it. And for what little it may be worth, if you ever need to talk, I will always be available. I wish you the best of fortunes to you on whatever you may choose and I do apologize for this wall of text. Take care.
  19. @Pisky Just so you know, I have merged your thread with another as both were very similar in discussion. In the future, please be sure to utilize the search function to see if your topic exists before creating a new thread. Thank you and take care!
  20. Overall, these are all well-made and rather interesting with my favorites among the bunch being 'The Trotting Dead,' 'Starry Rainbow Dash,' and the banner for MLP Forums. I do have a couple of suggestions that may be of help in the future. Though there is nothing inherently wrong with the 'Pinkie Pie Style' one, I feel that there is far too much pink with not enough contrast to make anything pop; it is a tad straining on the eyes. Maybe a cerulean blue background with the pink swirls will help in that department. I do have a bit more advice, but it would feel more like nitpicking so I will leave it at that. Great job with these and I do hope to see more of your work in the future! (And as far as linking your own personal website and/or forum, I can see that you have it listed in your signature. Just direct people to look there if they are interested in checking it out and you shall be fine)
  21. Just so you know, I have moved your thread to the Creative Resources section as you are seeking help in pony naming. As of know though, it is rather difficult to come up with a name for your OC without any details. Race, cutie mark, background and all those little tidbits of information are rather important so that others can help you brainstorm for unique and interesting names for you character.
  22. And the battle over being the most powerful OC begins! Honestly, that would make for an epic piece of artwork... Anyway, I have too say that I got a good chuckle when I saw this, and that is a good thing. The design and color choices are overall appealing and I simply love the look and pose of the character; very confident and almost begging for a challenge. And using the RYNO as a reference: excellent choice. The only thing that does not seem right is that the one arm seems rather thing, but that could be me. Either way, great job with this one and I cannot wait to see what you do next! I do not know, as that gun looks mighty powerful. Who needs to raise the moon when you can simply blow it up?
  23. Your art certainly unique and is nicely done in my opinion (which means I have another stellar artists to watch on DA). Given the caliber of your work, I would say that the prices you presented would be more than fair for what they buyer would be recieving. Perhaps a little too fair in hindsight, but these seem like good starting points and can be risen slightly if demand for your work is high enough and you become more established. In the end, it is striving to find that middle ground for what to charge that you want, especially when starting out. You do not wish to charge to little, as you may be practically giving away your work and will be doing a great disservice to yourself both artistically and financially. You also do not want to charge an exorbitant amount for obvious reasons as well. I do wish you the best of luck in your artistic endeavours, though I have little doubt that you will do well. And if you/when you do begin to take on commission, you can also seek for a commission shop here on the forums as well. Take care!
  24. @Sholem Itzhak and @Something Floaty As there is already a discussion about everyone's favorite Weird Al Yankovic songs, I have merged each of your threads with this one. In the future, please be sure to utilize the search function to be sure that your idea for a thread does not already exist before creating a new one; helps keep the forums tidy and organized Thank you! As I have not really heard many of Weird Al's songs, I cannot really say I have a favorite. Perhaps I should change that.
  25. My Little Pony: Teaching about love, friendship and physics. Twilight would be so proud right now.
