  1. All of these pictures are absolutely adorable, with my favorite being the traditional Rainbow Dash piece (as I am a sucker for both traditionally done drawings and Rainbow Dash, so win-win there). And I could not agree more with @SFyr that 'arting' should definitely be a thing. Plus, I enjoy the sound of it; much more fun than saying drawing. The only thing I see that is amiss to me is within the last picture you posted of Twilight, as her hind legs look rather strange to me. But that could be me just nitpicking. Regardless, these are all nicely done and I do hope to see more of your work soon. Keep it up and take care!
  2. Since there is already a thread for this exact topic, I have gone ahead and merged this thread with that one. In the future, please be sure to utilize the search function to see if your idea for a discussion already exists before creating a new one. This not only helps to keep the forums nice and organized but avoids any unwanted confusion that multiple threads tend to create. Winter Wrap Up was the first episode I saw when it premiered and I am so happy to this day that my little sister asked me to watch it with her back then. It stills feels like one of the better, earlier episodes to introduce someone who is new to the show, in my opinion.
  3. This thread appears to be related to the My Little Pony franchise and/or the Bronydom in general. Thus, it has been sentenced to Sugarcube Corner.
  4. I believe you mentioned this to me quite a while back, but I am glad to see that this project is finally underway. I am most certainly interested in helping, but I am rather curious as to what you would require specifically from the artists themselves?
  5. Yes! We must be the best of friends! Anyway, thank you very much! Thank you Silverwisp, as I always truly appreciate your thoughts and feedback. I still have a lot to work on, but I am glad to see that nothing looks exceptionally awful this time around. Quite thankful, really. And considering Luna is one of my favorite characters, I am sure you will see something a bit more finalized sometime in the future. Thank you! I can assure you that I have no intentions of stopping my little drawing habit. Master? No, but I do appreciate the vote of confidence so thank you most sincerely! Still have a long was to go, but it shall be a fun journey regardless. Thank you most sincerely! Fluffle Puff and Chrysalis seem to be quite the favorites and I am glad that you like it. And as I have said before, I still have a lot to learn and even more to practice, but that is half the fun. Now, for something new. This is a WIP (in other words, this will never see completion and nothing really noteworthy overall) so feel free to share your thought, opinions and/or constructive criticism. And thank you all for your kind words!
  6. Hello @AppleCrackers! As your thread seems to be a discussion on everyone's experience with sharing their early writing attempts as well as seeking advice for your own artistic endeavors rather, I have moved your thread to the Creative Resources section. This section was created specifically to help fellow members on any projects they may be working on or help flesh out personal and creative ideas, so I am sure that you will gain some valuable insight there. Unfortunately, I do not write often, so I cannot give you any advice in that regard. However, do not be hesitant to share your work with others, as that is one of the fundamental keystones for an artist's growth. No one starts out a success and there will always be missteps as your progress, but that journey is a lot more fulfilling when shared with others. And most here are more than will to help you grow and improve as a writer, myself included. I do wish you the best of fortunes on your writing and I do hope to see he fruit of your efforts at some point. Take care!
  7. This is simply adorable, and it does not help that I am a sucker for characters with scarves (not sure why). I am sure Octaviator will love it, despite it not being a strictly a head shot. Also, for not doing backgrounds, this one turned out quite well and it all fits together nicely. I am probably the last person to ask about how to tackle backgrounds, as this is something of a rarity for me as well. Normally, if I do wish to add one, it is more of an afterthought after I have already drawn in the characters and actions. For simple pieces like the one you have here, there is little harm in using this method. However, if you have something a bit more elaborate and complex that you wish to tackle, then proper planning would be required to save yourself both time and frustration. Drawing up a few thumbnails to pin down where everything will go is a great help before moving on to the actual drawing and will save you from headaches later on. I wish I could offer more, but my experience with such things are rather limited. Regardless, great job again and I do hope to see more of your work in the future. Take care!
  8. This thread appears to be some manner of random (but strangely enjoyable) nonsense, or something spammy of the sort. Thus, it has been sentenced to the Forum Lounge section of Cloudsdale Colosseum.
  9. Hello @Qwak. Just so you know, there is already topic on favorite/best princesses, so I have gone ahead and merged your thread with that one. In the future, please be sure to utilize the search function to see if your idea for a topic already exists before creating a new one. This helps keep the forums a little more organized while deterring any confusion that multiple threads can cause. Thank you! As for princesses, they each have their own redeeming features and characteristics (though I do wish Cadance and Luna would get a little bit more development and screen time within the show) that I find adoring. However, if I would have to choose, Luna would be my choice. Though she has not had much time within the show itself, the comics have done a wonderful job of giving Luna a distinct and (to me) lovable personality.
  10. I suppose that truly depends on what panels and events you would be interested in attending, as there was quite a variety of panels within one day. (I actually pulled out the BronyCon book from last year just to see what did occur on Saturday). Then there is Artist's Alley, which I could honestly spend all day in. But I digress, the best question that I would have to ask is 'what are you hoping to see or what kind of panels would you be most interesting in going to?' Personally though, I would say that if one day is all you have, I think it is worth going if only to experience the con first hand. It was an absolute pleasure for me last year and I am eagerly awaiting for this one coming up.

  12. I have not the faintest idea what sort of difficulty there may be with drawing on an iPad, but I think this looks rather nice considering. The colors are rather pleasing to the eye and mesh together well with the juxtaposition of warmer color of the body and cool colors of the hair. Though I am rather curious as to why you chose to go for a pink Celestia, it still works rather well. My only concerns would be the composition itself and the head. For the head, it seems a tad too small in comparison to the body, but that is an easy fix if seen as an issue. As for the composition, it is normally avoided to compose a piece with important parts of a body being cut off by a border (in this case, the head) as these can become unwanted focal points that can make the entire picture look a little off. Perhaps this is what you were referring to? Regardless, I do hope you keep this sort of art up as it is always fun to experiment. Keep up the lovely work and take care!
  13. Though this has already been said, this is indeed an absolutely adorable piece and you captured every individual character quite nicely. Even more impressive is that this was done so neatly, with what I am assuming was pen, which is another display of your artistic skill. What more can I say but I hope to see more of your wonderful work in the future Take care!
  14. These are pretty good so far as well as cute, and will only continue to improve as you draw more. It is good to see that you are trying different poses and perspectives for the characters you are drawing as well. And so long as you are enjoying yourself with this, that is what really matters. My only suggestion to you at this time would work on proportions and basic anatomy a bit. Though these are cartoon ponies and artistic liberties are taken to exaggerate movement and poses, the characters themselves surprisingly follow basic equine anatomy and look more solid due to this. There are plenty of references on horse skeletal structure as well as other useful references that can aid you. You may be quite surprised that by learning how a body moves and functions can be a tremendous help when drawing, especially working with various poses as well as drawing from imagination. Keep up the good work, have fun and take care!
  15. My apologizes to everyone who I failed to reply to on this thread, as I can assure you that I truly appreciate everyone's comments and support on here, which I cannot thank you all enough for. If anyone thinks of this as being negligent on my part, I would completely understand. For me, I simply do not feel right posting on here unless I have brought a new sketch or some show of artistic effort on my part. I am sure this is a silly way of thinking, but it is something I will have to shake off, as it is not right to leave other's comments unattended as I have. I should be offering an apology to you for my delayed response here, and I wish to thank you for such kind words. As far as drawing your OCs, I would be more than happy to if you are still interested. Just let me know! Thank you most sincerely Sapphire, as I truly do appreciate your compliments though I feel I am not fully deserving of them. I still have a long way to go before I am personally satisfied, but so long as others are finding some sort of joy out of my work, then what more can I ask for? Thank you again! Thank you very much Yaya! Though I still feel expressions are one of my weakest areas, I am still try to improve upon that Now, onto some new stuff. Though not much to offer right now, I am trying to work on a few personal projects that I hope I will be able to share soon! In the meantime, here are a few practice sketches that I would love to hear everyone's opinions on. And thank you all again! First, another speed practice attempt, with @Dilarus. @Keponii and @Chigens and Kay as the subjects for this one (the fourth one in the top left corner was simply a random pony; nothing noteworthy. I do not own any of these OCs and if their respective creators wish for me to remove this image, I will gladly do so). Second, simple expression practice, with Luna being the subject for this little test. Again, nothing noteworthy but necessary if I am going to strengthen my weak areas in drawing emotions as well as drawing figures and features with some sort of consistency. And, finally, another expression/ consistency practice sheet where I was apparently too lazy to draw a dedicated pony. So, they remained bald (poor things...).
  16. Hello . Just so you know, I have moved your thread to the Creative Resources section so that you can receive further feedback on your fan fiction question. And while I am here, I will offer my thoughts on the matter. Simply because a basic premise, setting etc. has already been done before should be no reason to stop you from pursuing your own creative endeavors or ideas. Everyone holds their own interpretations and perspectives, which can help add further depth and imagination to a seemingly oversaturated genre (in this, post apocalyptic). There is always something different to explore and new ideas to be implemented; some may work while others may fail, but you will not know such answers until you try. This is how one begins to grow as an artist, by taking risks and being open to critique and constructive criticism. In any case, I do wish you the best on your fan fiction and I hope that you will indeed move forward with your ideas. And do not worry about potential readers or lack thereof, as this will only discourage your progress. Write for yourself and the experience, as readers will surely follow. Take care.
  17. Hello [ChuckinBrony]! Just so you know, I have moved your thread to the General Discussion section, as the Fan Music section is used to share your musical endeavors with other members to both enjoy and provide their input and opinions on your work. And while I am here, I will say that I just picked up playing the violin not too long ago. I have always wanted to play it since I was in the fifth grade but my mother did not agree with the idea for one reason or another. So, now I finally have the chance to pick it up and see what I have been missing.
  18. Hello @Buckshot! Just so you know, there is already a discussion on Hasbro's C&D polices and their possible effects on the fandom here if you would like to join in on the conversation. In the future, please be sure to use the search function to see if your idea for a thread already exists before creating a new one. Not only does this help keep the forums organized, but this also avoids any possible confusion that multiple threads tend to cause. Take care! And though I have quite an extensive thought on this matter, I will leave that for the main thread. However, I will say this much: if Hasbro had the malicious desire to protect their IPs as some seem to believe, C&D's would be a far more common practice and the the brony fandom would have face oblivion long ago.
  19. Hello ! As there is already a thread on not being able to choose a favorite pony, I have merged your thread with that one. In the future, please be sure to use the search function to see if your idea for discussion already exists before creating a new thread. This tends to keep the forums nice and organized while deterring any possible confusion that can arise from multiple threads. Thank you! I can safely say that I do not have one definite 'favorite pony,' as each of them exhibit a trait or aspect that I admire and respect. When I first became a fan of the show, Rainbow Dash was hands down my favorite for athletic and bold nature as well as her overall character design. Then, as time went by and each character grew, I began to favor them instead of just one. I think my little sister put it best when I asked her who here favorite pony was and her simple answer was an enthusiastic "All of them!"
  20. Ah, procrastination. Believe me when I say that this, along with a few other obstructions, is the bane of my artistic attempts. However, if you wish to improve and have fun while doing it, this hardly becomes an issue as you tend to look forward to drawing rather then shy away. Everything that @@Silverwisp the Bard said is all sound advice that I would take to heart. Learning basic equine anatomy is a great place to start in trying to improve your characters. Though the ponies from FiM are cartoons and take grand liberties in movement due to that fact, they still follow basic horse anatomy and looking up diagrams and references will only help you along the way. In its current state, it is rather difficult to discern if the guidelines are correct until you flesh out the character a bit more, which I would love to see what direction you wish to pursue with it. Guidelines such as they can be a wonderful yet fickle entity, as these serve as a basic starting point to help capture the flow and essence of the character that you are drawing. On the other hand, many just starting their artistic endeavors tend to stick to these line much too closely, which can create very stiff looking creations. Just something to keep in mind as you progress with your future drawings. You must also keep in mind the essential pose and emotion you are trying to convey as you are drawing, as similar poses with differing expressions can be drastically different when executed. What you have here is a good start and I can only see it improving as you continue along with adding more essential details. The only thing I would say is amiss right now to me is the femur of the legs seems a tad short. Otherwise, keep it up! Additionally, since you are looking for feedback on your guidelines rather than displaying a more complete drawing, I have moved your thread to the Creative Resources section. Here, you should be able to receive a greater degree in advice and opinions on your early stage sketch. Just keep in mind to not give up and have fun. Take care!
  21. As a thread already exists for this topic, I have gone ahead and merged your thread with that one. In the future, please be sure to utilize the search function to see if your idea for a topic already exists before creating a new one, as this helps keep the forums nice and organized. As for first pieces of merchandise, I purchased six first series blind bags when I first saw them on the off chance that I would get each of the Mane 6. Despite all odds, that is exactly what I got and I could not have been happier at the time. I even still have them sitting on my night stand.
  22. As already pointed out, there is an extensive discussion on this topic already in which you can engage other members about. In the future, please be sure to use the search function to see if your idea for a thread already exists before creating a new; tends to keep the forums tidy and organized while minimizing any confusion that multiple threads can cause. With that being said, this thread will now be locked. Take care!
  23. As this topic pertains to something within the brony fandom, I have moved your thread to Sugarcube corner, as the Fan Music section is designated for sharing music created by the user rather than another artist. Eurobeat Brony, along with Aviators, was one of the first brony music artists that I was introduced to and I have loved just about everything that he has put out since then, with my favorites being Luna, Discord, This Day Aria, and Diamond Dogs (Vocal Remix). I am not usually a fan of this particular genre of music, but I still find his remixes immensely enjoyable and listen to them quite frequently. And he is still creating music, as far as I am aware, and has done a few remixes from Season Three, including Raise this Barn, Babs Seed, Morning in Ponyville and A True, True Friend. So, he is still going strong and he still has my appreciation and support!
  24. I always love seeing the progession stages of an art piece; it is always a joy to see to me. I can honestly see why you took a shining to this character; both the design and colors are quite appealing and I am enjoying the your style for the line work. I cannot wait to the finished version, so keep up the lovely work. I hope to see more from you soon!
  25. Once I saw this piece, I immediately thought of the comic's artistic style so great job for nailing the aesthetics. Honestly, there is not much that I can say on this on, as it follows the comic style nicely (though the eyes is a tad large for my taste but that is just me), colors are spot on and the slight shading is a nice touch. The only thing I hope to see is more, so keep it up. Again, great job!
