My internet connection must truly hate me right now.
-
There are some that are highly protective of their work and the OCs that they have created, and I cannot find fault if they would be less-than-pleased with my free use of them. Even if for simple practice, these OCs belong to their creators and I ultimately have no right to their use without the creator's expressed permission. Trust me when I say that I have seen where this road can lead. And I wish to thank you for your kind words once again. I am hoping to make more of these, as this exercise is such a great personal tool for me to improve my work

Thank you most sincerely! I truly do appreciate it and I can only hope that I do not disappoint with future works, In an attempt to improve my speed while sketching, I have started to take random OCs from friends on both the forums and my Skype contacts and drawing a bust sketch in about 4-6 minutes each. I actually acquired this idea from a deviation by Earthsong4905 on DA (if you are unfamiliar with this artist, she is one that I would highly recommend looking up; I can promise that you will not be disappointed). For the first small batch, from left to right, I have , @LunarGuard, @Lucky Lass, and @AmarisNsane. If anyone is offended that I drew their OCs without their permission, I will more than happy to take this down as it was not my intention to cross any lines. I also wish to extent apologizes if I did not do any of your OCs justice with these sketches. I simply thought that this would be both a fun and helpful exercise and I could create art for those I would like to call friends. If anyone has any comments, please feel free to share them. And one final apology for how messy this is. Much improvement is needed.

Hello @MLP Moth There is actually already a discussion on one's preference on the culinary delicacy known as pizza. As such, I have merged your thread with that one. In the future, please be sure to utilize the search function to see if your topic already exists before creating a new thread. It tends to keep the forums nice and organized. Thank you. As for myself, I normally eat a simple plain pizza since I am such a wild individual. But I am also partial to pepperoni, pineapple, broccoli and even buffalo chicken pizza.

I am assuming this was taken with a phone or a standard camera? If you any sort of picture-editing software, you should be able to rotate this easily. Even if you loaded this onto MS Paint, that program has a rotation function that should work for your needs here. Anyway, onto the drawing! For a first attempt, this is quite nice. The anatomy is fairly on par with the show's standards and nothing stands out that needs a massive overhaul. The only points I would say to work on for the future is the muzzle (which seems rather small to me) and the wings, as the one on the left seems to be larger than the right one right now. Other than that, I think you did a fine job and I hope you keep it up. Happy drawing! On a side note, I just realized that if you open the picture itself into its own tab, the drawing's orientation is correctly displayed. A bit strange but it works for me.

I have to agree that I kind of like Button Mash without the hat. But, then again, it seems that it is a more 'iconic' feature of him so it also strange to see him without it. But, I digress... I really do like the style used on this character, and would I be mistaken to say that this is an slightly older version of him? Either way, the combination of the larger ears and longer legs seems to work quite well; honestly, I feel like this could be a part of a flash video game or something of that nature. Really, there is not much more that I can say is this was nicely done and I hope to see more of your work soon!

It has been far too long in my eyes and I should have never let that chunk of time slip away. Regardless, you have my sincerest thanks once again your time and compliments. I am actually working on a sketch of Dash and Scootaloo right now to complete the 'set,' as it were. Whether it turns out well...I suppose we will see on that matter. I can see what you mean about Luna's neck, so your critique in not unwarranted and that should be simple to adjust. Thank you again Silverwisp

Looks like I shall be following another great artist from this forum on DA. All of these works are absolutely adorable, with my favorites among the bunch being Twilight/Trixie and Christmas Applejack. Your drawing style is rather cute and innocent, on the same level of the show itself, the line work is solid and your work is overall fantastic and a joy to look at I look forward to seeing more of your work in the future!
-
You drew Princess Luna, so that is already a point in my book. This turned out very nicely with nothing that really feels amiss or needs adjusted. For some reason with this picture, I can imagine Luna having a staring contest with Celestia; not entirely sure as to why. Anyway, great job once again and I do hope to see more from you soon!
-
Now this is certainly something new. These are both lovely and I do hope to see more of these soon, as I always enjoy seeing new forms of artwork floating around. I am especially fond of the Celestia piece and how you have the wings painted around the eyes; very elegant. Great job!

My First Drawing! What do you think of it?
SkyBound replied to Starlight Lunamoon's topic in Visual Fan Art
I think you did a fine job with this one and you should be quite pleased. And one should never see their artwork as 'bad,' but rather a stepping stone towards improvement. With that being said, though I do believe this is a good start, there are a couple things I would like to point out for your consideration. As it seems you are sticking with the show's aesthetics, the muzzle is a tad too long and the neck is a bit thicker than it should be. Both of these are quite minor and can be easily adjusted. Aside from that, you seem to be on the right track and I hope to see more from you. Take care! Also, I have moved your thread to the 'Fan-Art' section, as I feel your picture would be more appropriate there and would recieve more reception.- 6 replies

Hello . We actually already have a discussion on this very topic, which I have now merged your thread with that one. I would normally suggest to utilize the search function to see if your topic already exists, but it seems you did. The only other thing I would suggest is to run a handful of searches using various words to see if anything comes up. Take care.

mega thread Favorite Songs From The Show
SkyBound replied to Flutterguy1's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
Hello @Scottish Brony. We actually already have a thread discussing favorite songs from the show, so I have merged your thread with it. In the future, please be sure to use the search function to see if your topic already exists before creating a new one. Thank you. And while we are on the subject, I would have to say that may favorite song would have to be a toss up between 'Winter Wrap Up' and 'This Day Aria.' Both are such fantastic songs! -

What a wonderfully unique rendition of one of my favorite ponies. The art style feels familar but I cannot put my finger on it... Anyway, I think this turned out quite nicely; the linework is good, the coloring is evenly done (as it is quite easy to create uneven layers with marker) and I cannot find much that needs to be addressed. I cannot wait to see more of your work and to see what you can do with your new markers. As far as tips with the medium, I cannot offer much as I have never used Copics and my experience with Prismacolors is rather limited. It may be worth buying a blender marker if/when you wish to add shading and other such features to your work, as it helps create a smooth trasitition between colors. Other than that and paper selection, I think you have a good grasp on how to use them already. Seeing your work makes me want to bust out my marker set and give it a go.

Goodness, I only just realized how long it has been since I last posted on here. Not that I have much worth posting and showing, as I feel my art has gone severely downhill since November. Regardless, here are a few sketches that I feel are at least halfway decent and that are not complete rubbish (though I apologize for the pictures' poor quality). As always, please feel free to let me know what you think and any critiques that you may have. Thank you.

Fanfics as actual episodes, anyone?
SkyBound replied to SpitfiretheScrub's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion

This topic has gone slightly off-the-rails, so everyone please make it a point to stay on tangent. The topic is merely seeking out other asexual individuals and not trying to start a controversy on the subject. If anyone wishes to debate this topic further, please feel free to take it to the Debate Pit section. Thank you.

Just so you are aware, I have already taken care of your duplicate thread so no need to worry further. If something like that does happen again, please be sure to file a report so that we are aware of the situation and can resolve it. Now then... I must say that I really find this drawing rather charming. The anatomy is solid and you have represented the show's style quite well. It is also a nice touch that you went out of your way to try to make each character different, even if it was a difference in attire (though the pony on the right seems to be missing thier cutie mark). And I personally like the Ghile pony and his 'ghost' cutie mark (though I must say I had to look quite hard to see his hoof around the butt of his rifle; I may be blind that way). However, there are a couple things that seem a bit off to me. The weapons, primarily the shotgun and assault rifle. seem rather small in comparison to the size of the ponies' bodies. Might I also suggest experimenting with different angles for the body? Right now, the middle and right pony are standing in the exact same position and it can be rather odd looking and throws off the composition a bit. Even the slightest turn in either character would give your piece more diveristy and draw more interest. You did a great job with this one and I hope you consider creating more of these military ponies in the future. I do not know why, but I find the concept rather appealing.

As this thread seems to be dedicated on taking OC requests, I have moved your thread to the Request Guild section as it would be more fitting there. Take care and keep up the lovely work.

You did a lovely job with this one. Though the neck is slightly thick, I do not see anything starkly out of place. I was never particularly fond of eyebrows and such clipping through hair, but that is more of a preference rather than a criticism and detracts nothing from your work. The only thing I would suggest is to experiement more on the colors used for backgrounds, even if it a simple one as you have right here. Though this one works given the smeared nature of the colors, it is often best not to use the same or similar colors that were used for your focal point, as it tends to distract the eye and blend together. Again, great job and keep it up!

AWH snap! Power Pony poster(will update with progress)
SkyBound replied to iceestarz's topic in Visual Fan Art
This piece is looking great thus far and I cannot wait to see more as you progress as you get to the rest of the characters. I am especially impressed by the coloring and I only wish I was that skilled with colored mediums. But I digress, keep it up and good luck with the rest of this! On a side note, I have merged all of your seperate threads pertaining to this art piece together into this one. It keeps the forums a bit more organized and less cluttered as well as giving anyone a chance to see the collective progress you are making on your drawing.- 27 replies

I can completely relate to that, as I get to points where I feel as though I am erasing a hole through the paper. It simply takes time and practice to get such things correct and I have no doubt that you will be able to improve upon it. If you need any help or any such assistance, feel free to ask me.

This is quite good for a first attempt at drawing ponies; the colors seem well chosen and the overall design is simple yet effective. The only thing I would mention for future consideration is the general anatomy. The hindlegs are rather thin where it meets the body and the proportions seem off in general. Though these are cartoons, they still follow basic equine anatomy and there are a plethora of references that could help you with this. You have every right to feel proud with this drawing, as you did do a great job with it and all you need are some minor adjustments for the future. Best of luck to you and I hope to see more from you soon!

Should MLP adapt to appeal to bronys and everyone else?
SkyBound replied to OG Blaze's topic in Sugarcube Corner
I believe she already has, and the staff currently working on the show have been continuing that mindset. At least in my opinion When Lauren Faust began deveolping the show, her intent was to create a show that would appeal not only to the target demographic, but also entertain parents, siblings etc. that would possibly watch the show with them (which could included anyone of us and that is how I first discovered the show). Essentially, it had the potential to be entertaining to anyone. Seeing how the fandom has grown since the show's first airing or even looking upon everyone on this forum, that seems to be evidence enough that they have succeeded on that front.
