I put forth a great effort in making mine. I think it may be my finest work yet.

I lie there and stare at the ceiling. Oftentimes I see faces in the ceiling "popcorn", and then I convince myself that they're evil and out to get me.

gaming Am I the only one that thinks fighting games are the absolute WORST genre?
Detritus replied to Kyoshi Frost Wolf's topic in Media Discussion
I've never really cared for them either... not even Super Smash Bros. -
I usually just call him Link, but sometimes I'll name him something dumb, like Stink.

One like this... Or not. I don't think I'd ever want to get a tattoo. I know I'd just get fed up of looking at it after a while.

I got ISFJ-T, "The Defender". 0% Extroverted - 100% Introverted 42% Intuitive - 58% Observant 24% Thinking - 76% Feeling 70% Judging - 30% Prospecting 25% Assertive - 75% Turbulent In some ways that sounds like me, but in other ways it doesn't sound like me at all. I'm actually not very good with people, and the career choices mentioned there were highly people-oriented, like nursing and elementary school teacher. I would do very poorly in those types of jobs. On other tests, I often get ISTJ, but that one isn't entirely accurate to me either. I'm a lot more flexible and a lot less traditional than a typical ISTJ.

Which Mane 6 pony can you relate to the most?
Detritus replied to VeroxVitrus's topic in Sugarcube Corner
Fluttershy - She's probably my closest match thanks to my shyness and anxiety issues. I'm also very tolerant and can co-exist peacefully with most people. As for the others... Twilight - I can be a bit of a nerd like she is. Pinkie - I have a random sense of humor. Rainbow Dash - She's been shown to be a bit lazy and inattentive. I also have trouble with that. Applejack - Like her, I have trouble accepting help from others. Rarity - She tends to freak out a lot over trivial things. I do this too, except I do it internally and without much visible drama. As an extension, here's how I differ from them... Fluttershy - I'm not anywhere near as kind as she is, and while I do like animals, I prefer to observe them from a distance rather than interact with them. Twilight - I'm a chronic under-achiever. Pinkie - I have very low energy levels. Rainbow Dash - I've no interest in athletics nor any athletic skill to speak of. I'm also about as "un-awesome" as I can possibly be. Applejack - I'm a slacker. Rarity - I have zero interest in fashion or high society. -
My three big ones are Crohn's disease, social anxiety, and depression. I'd work on overcoming the social anxiety, but that would require constantly forcing myself through anxiety-provoking situations, and anxiety makes my Crohn's symptoms more severe. I have no reliable way to control the Crohn's symptoms either, so I'm kind of stuck. I can't risk making myself sick when I have no health insurance. Thanks to those two problems, I'm still stuck living at home with my parents, and for someone like me who's pushing 30, that's incredibly embarrassing. On another note, I'm also super-retarded at math. I've never been able to do anything more advanced than basic algebra. That pretty much stopped me from pursuing any of the college majors that interested me.

I get a bit of an initial shock if I find a spider on me, but other than that, I'm not really afraid of them... slightly uncomfortable, maybe. I actually have a fairly big spider living in the corner of my window, and it's been living there for several years now. In all that time, I've only ever seen it catch one insect, so I have no idea how the spider is even still alive.

general Is there any one that likes the night more then the day?
Detritus replied to Luna 831's topic in General Discussion
I'm pretty much nocturnal these days. That actually came about when I used to have dial-up Internet access. During the night, I could go online whenever I wanted to without having to worry about phone calls or anyone else needing to go online. Nowadays, I don't need to do that any more, but the habit stuck anyway. It's probably terrible for me, but my health is already a mess, so staying up late is probably the least of my problems. I do at least take a lot of vitamin D to offset the lack of sunlight. There's only one thing I dislike about the nighttime... all of the huge flying roaches come out of the woodwork, and it's not fun when one of those lands on your face. -
I like to look at other people's cosplays, but I don't think I'd ever do it myself. Actually, I might do it if I was wearing a costume that covered me completely... a full suit of armor, spacesuit, or something of that nature. I'd never do an MLP cosplay though. That would be a terrifying sight to behold.

general Do you make your bed in the morning'?
Detritus replied to Member Berry's topic in General Discussion
I sleep in the woods on an old mattress that someone threw out. I don't "make" it, but I have to tip it over every morning to scare the roaches away. -
Yep. Most of my "optimistic" predictions there were just me joking around. Barring some kind of unexpected discovery, I don't see FTL travel happening in my lifetime - if ever. The first manned mission to Mars is probably the most that will be accomplished by 2035. I think the only plausible prediction I had there was the self-driving car one. Even that one might be a bit too optimistic though.
-
My overly optimistic predictions: - We break the light speed barrier and travel to Alpha Centauri in a matter of weeks - The first androids with human-level intelligence appear - Cold fusion reactors replace fossil fuel power plants - Nanite augmented immune systems put an end to most disease - Quantum computers finally get off the ground - Self driving cars become mainstream, and auto accidents greatly decrease. - The U.S. will finally get a proper health care system... when we no longer need it My pessimistic (but probably realistic) predictions: - Oil runs out and the world enters a global depression as a result - Climate change causes bizarre weather patterns, droughts, and floods, and decimates crops worldwide - North Korea nukes... somewhere. World War III begins - Maybe if we're lucky, we'll finally have a manned Mars mission - Everything (even the toilet) will be connected to the Internet, and all privacy will be gone - Robots will take away all of our jobs - Computer processors will still be roughly as fast as they are now, but they'll have 100 cores that no software can even take advantage of. - Smart phones and laptops will be so thin that you won't be able to see them if you turn them sideways... and people will still care for some reason. - Proper English will be completely replaced by texting lingo

mega thread What is your sexuality ?
Detritus replied to DashingRainbow36's topic in General Discussion
I'd say I'm weakly heterosexual. I like women, but only just slightly, and I've never had any interest in men. If any woman out there is ever interested in me, she will have to make the first move... and the second... and the third... and then probably give up. -
I'm no expert, but as far as I know, it does work. The person being hypnotized has to be a willing and open-minded participant though. It can't be used to force anyone to do anything against their will.

From what I understand, Wi-Fi and microwave ovens both operate somewhere around 2.4 GHz, so they tend to interfere with each other. I'm not sure there's much of a solution to that except to keep them a good distance apart. I guess microwave oven manufacturers aren't putting much effort into shielding their emissions. In my case though, I'm actually wanting to block the signals from cell phones and Wi-Fi.
-
I've been considering building a Faraday cage around my room to block microwave emissions from cell phones and wi-fi devices. Most people will probably think I'm a lunatic because of that.

general media What are somethings that you love that everyone else hates
Detritus replied to MilesW1998's topic in Media Discussion
Star Trek: Voyager I see hate for it everywhere, but I always liked it. No one bother trying to tell me why you think it sucks either. I've heard it all at this point, and I don't care to hear any more. -
movies/tv Who's your favorite non-MLP cartoon character?
Detritus replied to Luigi495's topic in Media Discussion
Gargamel from the Smurfs. I know he's not much of a character, but I've always found him hilarious for some reason. -
Unpopular/uncommon video game opinions
Detritus replied to BastementSparkle's topic in Media Discussion
I like Super Mario Bros 2 more than Super Mario Bros and Super Mario Bros 3. That's the reskinned Doki Doki Panic I'm referring to there, not the Japanese Super Mario Bros 2. That game is pure hell. I rate Zelda II: The Adventure of Link more highly than most people. Mega Man 6 is one of my favorite classic series Mega Man games. From what I've seen, most people consider it a weak entry. I've never liked first person shooters, and I kind of wish they would die out. I'll get some hate for this one, but Pokemon and Super Smash Brothers have never appealed to me. I didn't really like Donkey Kong Country Returns. I tried to play Fallout 3, but quickly grew bored of it. -
health Do you suffer from anxiety?
Detritus replied to Kyoshi Frost Wolf's topic in General Discussion
Yeah. I've had severe social anxiety for most of my life.
