This episode is fine. There's nothing wrong here, but Bright Mac and Pear Butter's romance is about as average as you can get. There are no big surprises with them, it's all exactly what you expect. It takes a stock plot and just plays it straight. It's not as bad as "The Mane Attraction" in this regard as it clearly has much more effort put into it and it's much more charming than that episode, but it still suffers from being so cliche. What makes it above average is the already mentioned charm and the fact that some emotional moments do work, specifically with Grand Pear. Score: 6/10

This episode feels like a poor man's "Luna's Micro" from the comics. The sisters seem artificial and forced in their interactions in the episode rather than energetic and fun like they were in the comic, and Andy Price's art in that issue is more entertaining than the animation in this episode. Celestia also feels too insensitive towards Luna. With all the guilt and sadness Celestia has gone through after having to send her sister to the moon, you'd think she'd be nicer to Luna. The comic also had Kibitz who played the role of the helper of the sisters better than Starlight, who feels like she was forced into the episode for no reason. All Starlight does is take the focus away from Celestia and Luna when making the episode fully from their perspective would've helped. The jokes are also much funnier in the comic. This episode's comedic highlights are a flanderized Twilight and Luna eating a banana peel. Score: 3/10

This episode is really bad. Rarity is never put in the wrong for the entire episode, despite the entire situation being her fault. All Rarity had to do was tell Applejack that she couldn't be a judge anymore and everything could be solved. Applejack isn't much better. She should've realized that she just doesn't understand fashion and shouldn't be judging it. Instead, she doubles down and ruins all of the designers' work. In the end, we have an episode where none of the leads are likable and both of them are out of character just for the sake of a contrived story. I like what the episode was going for, with the message of how you shouldn't give your opinions on something you're not well informed about, but the execution was a complete failure, aside from a few jokes from Pinkie. Score: 1/10

This episode is uncomfortable. The entire episode has a very unnerving undertone with things like Big Mac trying to kiss Sugar Belle while she's sleeping because it happened in a fairy tale book. The CMC and Big Mac should be smart enough to realize that fairy tale books aren't good relationship advice. The jokes that come from it are more creepy than funny. Feather Bangs is okay, but he's not that funny. The song he sings feels like a less funny version of the song from "All Bottled Up". There's no reason for me to root for Big Mac and Sugar Belle to get together. They don't have any chemistry and Big Mac's attempts to woo her only make me root for them less. There are a few good jokes, but they're too few to bring up the episode. Score: 2/10

This explains why the third act is garbage, but I also hate the rest of the episode. It's just Rainbow's parents acting annoyingly. Seeing how much they obsess of Rainbow isn't charming or funny, it's creepy. And Scootaloo sees no problem with anything Rainbow's parent do. I don't find anything here to be funny. I don't know how anyone can see Rainbow's parents as anything but creepy. Score: 0/10

This episode is similar to "Fluttershy Leans In" in that it's just meh. Once again, there's nothing wrong, but there's also nothing right. I like Sweetie Belle's line about "black box experimental theater", but there's not much else here. It's also similar to "The Cart Before The Ponies" where we're just waiting for the kid to finally call out the adult and everything up to that point drags on for a while. Score: 5/10

S07:E04 - Rock Solid Friendship
bigbertha replied to Ashen Pathfinder's topic in Season 7 Discussion
There's one thing I really like here and one thing I really dislike. I really like Starlight and Maud's friendship and that the episode didn't feel like a retread of "Maud Pie" like "The Gift of the Maud Pie" was. I really don't like how obnoxious Pinkie is here. Nothing she does is funny and she ruins any enjoyment the scene had just by showing up. Even when she learns her lesson at the end, she's still annoying. There are other things I like, like the bit with Rarity and a few other gags, but Pinkie just ruins so much of this episode. Score: 5/10- 200 replies

I really like this episode. If the only thing the episode had was Flurry Heart being cute, it wouldn't have worked, and although the are a lot of moments of Flurry Heart being cute, there's more to it than that. There are a lot of really good jokes here like the "sorry" stamp and everything about the art gallery. Score: 8/10

S07:E01+02 - Celestial Advice/All Bottled Up
bigbertha replied to Ashen Pathfinder's topic in Season 7 Discussion
Celestial Advice: I like this episode. It is annoying that the episode is made pointless at the end with Starlight not leaving, but it is still entertaining. Twilight's visions are all enjoyable with special mention to the Dragon Land vision and I like that Celestia was given a bit more character. Score: 7/10 All Bottled Up: This episode is mixed. I like Starlight's conflict, but I also find Trixie annoying. The song is hilarious in how overly cheesy it is, but the rest of the sup plot is really boring. The best part of the episode is the climax with Starlight's anger breaking loose, but it's not that long. One interesting thing is that the episode tries to make a parallel between the mane six having a great time and Starlight and Trixie having a terrible time. The interesting thing is that it never leads up to anything. When the mane six get back to the castle, there's no joke about how different their experiences were or anything. It feels like a missed opportunity. Score: 4/10 -
S06:E25+E26 - To Where and Back Again
bigbertha replied to Ashen Pathfinder's topic in Season 6 Discussion
This is my favorite two parter. The comedy is on point the entire time, the drama is compelling, and Chrysalis is actually threatening. My only issues are a few "talking to the camera" moments. Twilight looks straight at the camera in part 1 for some reason and in part 2, Thorax looks straight at the camera twice. One of those times Thorax explains a trick that everyone there should've already known. It feels like he's talking right at the kids watching. Score: 10/10 -
This is why I'm not a fan of the episode. Vapor Trail and Sky Stinger's situation doesn't make sense, and since the entire episode is about those two, the entire episode suffers. There are some good jokes, and there's nothing terrible here, but since I can't get invested in the conflict, the episode doesn't work for me. Score: 4/10

I like this episode. It's a simple one, but it's also nice to see young Applejack and talkative Big Mac. There are issues, like Big Mac's reason for not talking messes with his character up to this point and doesn't make sense. Big Mac's talking wasn't the problem. In fact, if he explained everything to Filthy Rich, he would've solved the problem. Other than that, there were some good jokes and Granny Smith is pretty great. Score: 7/10

S06:E22 - P.P.O.V. (Pony Point of View)
bigbertha replied to Ashen Pathfinder's topic in Season 6 Discussion
This episode is stupid, but it knows it's stupid. The "story" is just an excuse to tell jokes with exaggerated forms of Pinkie, Rarity, and Applejack. As an excuse for jokes, I think it works. The exaggerated characters are pretty funny and the ending is especially funny in just how stupid it is. Score: -8/10 -
I'd say the best thing about this episode is the comedy. There are a lot of witty lines and fun visual gags to keep me entertained. There might have been a few too many callbacks to previous episodes with the visual gags, but they weren't too bad. I'd say the worst thing here comedy wise is Cranky who feels a bit too jerky. The story is not very good though. It relies on Discord being terrible to everyone and while that's definitely funny, it isn't in character for Discord at this point. The ending is something that I'm mixed on. I don't have a problem with Starlight saying she handled the situation wrong, because she did. Sure, she was justified when she blasted Discord, but it just ended up causing more problems. Talking it out would not have. What I do have a problem with is Starlight making Discord the Vice Headmare. Acting the way he did does not warrant a promotion. The way the episode's written, it makes it seem like Discord's motivations completely absolve him of any consequences which is really stupid. Starlight should've still called out Discord even when apologizing to him. Score: -8/10

S06:E21 - Every Little Thing She Does
bigbertha replied to Ashen Pathfinder's topic in Season 6 Discussion
For not having a Starlight episode in 13 episodes, this episode did well in continuing her arc. What Starlight did here is horrible, and all of the jokes were based on how creepy and disturbing the effects of Starlight's spell were. It's slightly strange that Starlight didn't consider the fact that brainwashing her friends was bad, but I can still see where she was coming from. She just wanted to be efficient in her friendship lessons, doing them as quickly as possible to impress Twilight. That didn't justify what she did, but she did feel really guilty and learned her lesson. The comedy was pretty good here with just how emotionless and creepy the mane six were. It tied into the entire episode being about how badly Starlight handled the situation. The only thing I didn't like is "chillaxing". It wasn't funny any of the times it was mentioned. Score: 9/10 -
This was a really well done episode. Flim and Flam are fun, Applejack and Fluttershy work well together, and it has a unique setting to make it stand out. The only thing I don't like is "Applejack never lies" being the reason Flim and Flam get back together. It doesn't make sense that Flim and Flam would believe that Applejack never lies. What she said could've easily been a lie, since she already didn't like Flim and Flam. Score: 9/10

This episode is really entertaining. I wouldn't exactly call it funny because I didn't really laugh at a lot of the jokes, but I would call it fun, because the situation is just fun to watch. The only problem is that it slows down in the middle when Spike's explaining the game to Discord. Score: 9/10

S06:E16 - The Times They Are A Changeling
bigbertha replied to Ashen Pathfinder's topic in Season 6 Discussion
I like this episode, but there were a few off moments. I think the only reason Spike abandoned Thorax when his disguise broke is because it's a cliche. These kinds of stories have to have one of them abandon the other in their time of need because of social pressure. It's not done badly, but it feels so by the books. And I think the ending should've been more complex than a song convincing everyone that Thorax is good. Other than that, this was a solid episode. Score: 7/10 -

Queen is the best. "Don't Stop Me Now" and "Show Must Go On" are masterpieces.
