  1. DASHIE!!! DAAAAAASSSSHIIIIIIEEEEE!!!
  2. Gosh, now that I work retail and am generally happy with where I am, this is going to cause some conflict in my head. I worked at TRU in the early 00's, it was actually my first real job. Unfortunately it was probably the WORST-run store in the entire chain, so while I had a lot of fun there, all of the logistic and management nightmares shied me away from it for a long time. These days I sort of think of that job as "the one that got away." While I still would've ended up hunting for a new job last year, I really wish I'd been with the company this whole time.
  3. Am I the only one that caught it. "VERBAL abuse" was specifically stated. Granted, some might call that violent, I don't really. There are forms of harm that don't require the physical, but it doesn't fit the dictionary definition of violence. Yeesh, now I'm wondering if the English language even has a common word (something that isn't a contraction, like "psychological-scarring" for causing non-physical harm to a living creature.
  4. Is this the last thing you want to see before they get zapped into a portal to who-knows-where? Comeon, Cloudsdale! Pull it together! Rainboom this thing out of the park!
  5. The unrealistic? On a tiny cloud... with a certain Pegasus... under the light of the moon... Seriously though, probably not far off. I have a pretty intense "one with nature" feeling, and while I'm not afraid of creepy crawlers and animals, I'm also not one to just pass out anywhere in the woods. There's just too many things that could happen. I'd love to fall asleep in one of the recliners out back, but we have bears, and raccoons, etc that regularly come in very close proximity, and I don't know how to do "the stare." Oh... we also have a LOT of mosquitoes. But to be able to have that ambience. To feel the wind blowing over me, and hear the sounds of the wild all around. Maybe thunder far off in the distance. That's sleeper's heaven for me. So if I could be just a bit higher than where everything usually scavenges, forages, and hunts? That's the best of both worlds, IMO. A few times I've thought of building a custom deck, sort of like a ranger's watchtower, for this very purpose.
  6. Heh, was it you who mentioned that in the World Cup thread? I immediately thought of that weird Jet Li film... I think it was called "The One," and kinda seemed to be trying to be a Matrix knockoff without outright saying so. A character is traveling to different parallel dimensions and systematically killing the alternate versions of himself. Each time he does so, he absorbs their energy and becomes more powerful.
  7. Sometimes I feel like there was an even bigger missed opportunity there. I was really into Disney's "Once Upon a Time" at least early on, because I was so in love with the premise: What would these legendary figures who lived life in a literal fairytale, do if they were forced to live in our mundane reality? I hadn't thought about it like this before, but maybe that's why I feel drawn to Sunset in E.G. possibly more than Dash, while in FiM there's NO contest. I always kind of felt misplaced in reality, or lost in the wrong dimension, for as long as I can remember. Sunset's early days there must have really been something. Even more lonely than Twilight. At least she had Spike with her, and she ran into her E.G. counterparts quickly enough. What did Sunset have? Pretty much nothing. And she was coming from a place where she felt she also didn't belong, only to wind up in highschool hell. More I think about it, the more it sounds like it would be too dark and depressing to do as a show pointing towards the target demographic. Probably best left as a fanfic. Did she care about Equestria though? Such a story would also have to go into her relationship with Celestia. I kind of imagine somepony who was very sheltered and controlled (based on what Celestia described), and pushed way too hard. A actually wonder if in haste (Celestia knowing what her star pupil would someday have to face) she was actually taken from home, "Jedi Council"-style. Does anything exist for Sunset to be homesick for? Could go really grimdark with it and actually let her graduate, and THEN start feeling homesick. The clashing of the fantasies of highschool meeting with the darker nature of the normal world. All of the friends start moving off to college, the Mane 6 drifting apart. Yeeeah... fanfic for sure. I would actually love to do something like that as a film of some sort, either animated or live. Nobody would probably agree with it though, since it would carry a sense of "choosing fantasy over reality;" my version would probably let Sunset go back home after trying her hardest to keep everyone united.
  8. Just... incredible! I'm floored at just how well-done these are. And... they look... goooooooood! Where's Dash? I needs some Dashie!!! And comeon! Somebody in Japan buy an IP license and do an Anime spinoff show already!
  9. I'd love to see them show up again. Only problem is they don't have access to their magic, which has evolved and is now in the hooves of the Mane 6. Though seeing superheroes having to solve problems when their powers are nullified is entertaining as well. Frankly I wish they'd just give them their own show. I want to see their adventures in Old Equestria. MLP FiM with some heavier influence from classic mythology. That would be SO much fun.
  10. To be fair, Quarterbacks ARE the most vulnerable member on the team. They tend to be much leaner, their armor isn't as thick to allow for more mobility, and because they aren't focused on colliding with other players, can get caught in very precarious positions. Their odds at getting hurt in a tackle are much higher. While it makes sense, another problem is... I would not want to see what would happen to a Pegasus or a Unicorn, if either were tackled by an Earthpony. There's like being hit by a freight train.
  11. Certain rules are definitely required. I think Buckball as a variant is as close as you're likely to get, because in a full-contact game with Football's rules, it just sounds far too hairy, and I'm not sure what you would do with Pegusi and Unicorns in such a scenario because it would give them too much of an advantage. There would have to be a LOT of rules about who could tackle who to prevent such things. On that note, I would've liked to see a more advanced version of Buckball that brings it to a sort of Quidditch level of chaotic. A much larger playing field to keep the Earth Ponies running and allow for more of them to pass the balls back and forth (yes, I said balls, not just one!). Perhaps up to three baskets per "side" with Pegusi goaltenders applied to each of them (either that or considerably wider buckets to amp up the challenge). And also "receiver" Pegusi who can only make a shot on a goal by deflecting a pass from an Earthpony, or they can pass it back to the ground.
  12. Prefer the original. You can't mess with perfection.
  13. I got very bored today: The wild world of Buckball, according to the spirit of the "Top 16" pre-game taunt-fest...

  14. I thought I was done with falling for toons long ago... or actually... anyone for that matter. Then out of nowhere this blur of color stole my heart and tore off at Mach 1, daring me to catch her. That race has been going ever since.
  15. The friends I have are friends I've had for a loooong time. So them finding out, really wasn't much of a shock to them at all. Just me being... well... me. The only other exceptions are a couple people at work who spotted Ponies hiding under my uniform or my RD cutie mark pendant. One of the girls was like, "You know you're an adult male, right?" In a quarter second, two other guys proclaimed their fandom status. There's another girl who messes with me whenever she sees me... playfully I mean. "This department is a Brony-free zone." I asked her if she'd be interested in some beach front property... along the Sea of Tranquility.
  16. Wasn't that basically the Storm King though? He was kind of a bumbling idiot, but his playful side reminded me a lot of Discord, plus a lot of Tirek rehashing with siphoning magic from the four Princesses and then betraying his main ally.
  17. I would've studied LESS. My social life was even more nonexistent than Twilight's, and all the academic pursuits led me nowhere. So I missed out on 95% of the fun and didn't even get anything for it.
  18. I just don't see a reason the other characters need to be ignored in a conventional show format. FiM has given us episodes that follow characters who aren't usually the main focus. Why this isn't done more often is actually a bit of a shock, since there's clearly plenty of love for those other than the Mane 6 (or 7). Also, as @AlexanderThrond said, there's a lot more that could be done without rehashing FiM. E.G. is more grounded in reality, giving opportunities to explore more human problems that the Ponies have never had to face (such as cyber-bullying in the pilot), though with the introduction of the School of Friendship, that may be more complicated than before. On the more mystical side, I wish the connection between Equestria and the E.G. world hadn't been spent so quickly. There could've been a lot more to explore there and get into some very interesting sci-fi-ish scenarios. Gosh, part of me wishes there could be a Sci-Twi-centered version of the show (where we don't know what's going on already, which is unfortunately impossible) where she's constantly doing these X-files sort of investigations with an overarching plot that eventually leads her to discover Equestria. It could have been a LOT of fun to watch her SLOWLY unravel the mystery of all the strange happenings while dealing with being an outcast and maybe picking up a few other oddballs in her school who take interest in what she's doing, kinda like the Scoobies in the Buffy T.V. series.
  19. I really wish they would. But pretty much anything is better than a reboot.
  20. I'm really not sure how they would do it though. It could work with the time format of the show though. Apparently they don't get to see much of each other except for a few minutes at dusk and dawn. That really could be pretty funny. One of them storms in the door, violently waking up the other. "Okay.... what did I miss?"
  21. Are there any exhaustive video analyses of all of this? I'd love to get a chronological history detailing all the highs, lows, controversies, etc. Being just a foal in the fandom, most of what I know is patched together from a dozen random tidbits of conversation.
