  1. Why not? There is usually one way for things to be "right" and many ways for things to be "wrong" which means that "wrong" is more likely. Combine that with the tendency of peopleto move their goals/desires to never have "enough" and you see lots of unhappy people. The story is about humans gaining sapience and, in turn, having needs and desires way above those of other animals. Other animals can be happy with the basics - just look at a dog or a cat. On the other hand humans never have enough.
  2. Completely atheist. Religious people already do not believe in a lot of gods, I just do not believe in a few more. I cannot disprove the existence of God, but nobody can disprove the existence of Cthulhu either. If someone wants me to believe in their religion, then they would have to disprove other religions (including a few I can come up off the top of my head) without those same arguments being used to disprove their religion. "My Holy Book says that it is true and that it is the word of God, all other books are false" "That other book also says that it is the word of God, is true and all other books are false, so why should I believe your book and not this one?" I just cannot see parts of the inner workings or a religion and then forget I saw that and take the religion at face value.
  3. Are you afraid of something (phobia)? If no, then you are lucky, but you also would not understand me when I say that when I see a "yellow/black striped thing with wings", all logic goes out the window and, say, opening a window and waiting for the bee to fly away (assuming more bees do not fly in) is something that I would never be able to do. If I went to the window to open it I would probably just jump out as well, since the bee would most likely be between me and the rest of the room, so the only escape path would be the window. However, I have not killed that many bees in total, since I just avoid them whenever possible. So, hopefully you will not hate me that much. Dad: "Come help me with spinning the honey*" Me: "No way, the garden will be full of bees, I am not going within 500 meters of that place" *I have no idea how it's called in English, when you take out the honeycombs and then spin them in a special device to extract the honey.
  4. That was a bee, on the account of it leaving its stinger that needed to be pulled out. After that, I refuse to mow the lawn in that area ever again. I actually know that bees are necessary (and my dad actually keeps some hives, that's pretty much the reason I got stung those times) and, as such, try to avoid going somewhere where I may encounter them. If I see one outside I just go away (doesn't matter if it's a bee or a wasp, my first reaction is to just run). If I am not alone (say, we are eating outside), then I just freeze up until others deal with the insect. However if it is in a room with me, I usually cannot run away quickly and instead kill it. If there is more than one, then I grab the insecticide (I would not go into a room with bees without a can in my hand). Again, it does not really matter then if it's a bee or wasp - a "yellow/black striped thing with wings" is enough to trigger such responses. Normally I try to keep at least 10 meters away from a "yellow/black striped thing with wings".
  5. Yea, like mowing the lawn about 30 meters away from some beehives. A bee just came and stung me near my ear. And bee stings are even worse than wasp stings because they leave the stinger in which I have to pull out. Anyway, I see something yellow/black striped with wings, I do not look at it long enough to figure out if it's a bee or a wasp. I either run away or kill that insect. If there are a bunch of bees indoors, they get gassed.
  6. I do not smoke. I tried smoking a pipe once, but did not "get it" why would someone do it. I also tried smoking a hookah (with tobacco), but all it did was make my throat itch and I also did not "get it" why would someone do this. I did not try smoking a cigarette because they stink. Also, smoking would be really inconvenient to me. I like being indoors and smoke harms various devices, so I would have to drop whatever I am doing and go outside to smoke. Screw that. Pretty much all of my friends smoke though.
  7. Wasps, bees and anything else that's yellow/black striped and flying. I essentially have a phobia because I was stung a few times. If I see one of those, I roll up a newspaper or pick up a can of insecticide (or run away if I do not have a strong reason for being in that location). Mosquitoes - I just hate them and hate betting bit by them. Moths - because they are a pest Ants - at least those that find their way inside a house. If they are in a forest I don't care. Tics (they are arachnids though) - because of the danger of getting infected. Cockroaches - same reason as moths. I am kinda OK with houseflies, well, they are a pest and I will kill them in my house, but not as quickly as a wasp or a bee.
  8. Extremely short. If the nails grow out a mm or more they hit everything, it becomes difficult to pick up small pieces of wire etc.
  9. Beef. I absolutely hate the taste and texture of chicken (and other birds) and fish. Pork is good, but choosing between it and beef, beef would win.
  10. I have been a fan of the show since season 2, however, there were a few years when I did not watch any new episodes, but still continued to read fanfics. Then I watched those episodes in a short time. I have some merchandise (blind bag figures, Funko vinyl figures, two records). Since G4 is ending, I hope that G5 is just as good or better.
  11. I have a pair of modified (different midrange and tweeter, different filters) Radiotehnika S-90D in my TV room. I use a pair of Сонет 25АС-202 on my PC desk. Those are stereo though.
  12. At first glance it looks like a driver problem, but could also be a bad connection, either to the display (bad cable) or the graphics chip (those are known to desolder themselves from the motherboard. Try rebooting the laptop and go to the BIOS setup (the way to do that is different for each device, but usually you need to repeatedly press F1, F2, DEL or some other key immediately after turning the power on - if you see Windows boot screen, you are too late). Leave the computer in that screen for a while, observe what happens: If nothing happens (the display remains OK and the system keeps working for, say, 30 minutes) If the display fails as before: If anything is unclear, please say so and I will explain.
  13. At work I usually listen to the radio. At home I listen to files on my PC, sometimes YouTube, but I also play tapes (mostly reel-to-reel, but sometimes cassettes), records and CDs. I also sometimes listen to the radio. In my car I usually listen to cassettes, sometimes radio, sometimes I connect my MiniDisc recorder to the tape deck. Outside I use either a MiniDisc recorder or a cassette Walkman.
  14. The gamecrashes to desktop or do you get a blue screen? Do the crashes get more frequent after the PC has been turned on a while? For example, are the crashes more frequent after you reboot the PC compared to when you first turn it on after it being off for a few hours?
  15. When I was in University, yea, not smarter than everybody (there were a few smart people in there), but smarter than most, let's say. There was one course, "microprocessors", where I said that it would either be really easy or almost everybody would have problems passing it. Guess what? It was really easy AND almost everybody had big problems passing it.
  16. Yes/no (depending on your definition), one of my MiniDisc recorders can play mp3 files without conversion. It does not have internal memory though. A tape deck?
  17. I played a couple of episodes, but for some reason stopped. A good game though, maybe I'll finish it someday.
  18. To buy one? No. To use one when I was a kid? Yes, a couple of times. A Record player?
  19. I'd say for a scale normalized to just TV shows it's around 9. I have bought merchandise from this show, I have not done so for any other show. I don't think I have read fanfiction before MLP too. On the other hand, I have rewatched Babylon 5 more times. I wouldn't drive 800km just to see either of them though.
  20. Graduated from university (Masters degree) during the time between Seasons 2 and 3 of FIM.
  21. I remember watching it on TV too. IIRC I was back from school and saw it on TV as my grandfather was watching, so I joined him, occasionally translating.what was being said in English I remember watching TV all day then and I think I saw when at least one of the towers collapsed. Even though I am far away from the USA, I felt the outrage. Especially when they showed people in Palestine celebrating. Let's just say that I formed a pretty strong opinion about the Israeli - Palestinian conflict that day.
  22. They may not, but then again, Google does not profit from wars. Other companies do. Those companies may also not care which country is invaded specifically, as long as there is a need for their bombs, missiles etc.
  23. In my opinion, a lot of media going on and on about Trump is not because he is stupid (no high ranking politician is stupid, no matter your opinion about his policies, stupid people do not rise to the top) or that he is exceptionally bad (IMO he is no worse than Bush or Obama). The reason (IMO) is that he inconveniences some very rich and powerful people, because he has his own group of friends whose lives he wants to make easier. Just remember - the big channels are large companies and their employees will say what they are told to say. This is not some guy broadcasting his opinion on YouTube. Something like that happened in my country too. One President presumably refused to "share" with the "establishment" because he had his own friends. He was impeached and removed from office, then a law was passed to essentially ban him from running for office ever again. And yea, large companies, especially old ones, like banks, control everything. Remember the last recession which was caused by the banks, but then the banks were bailed out using tax money? Yea. Politicians are allowed to make laws that do not affect those companies, but would be in trouble if they started being inconvenient. Companies like Google and Facebook can even control people 1984 style, by controlling what information they see. For example - people who hold "unwanted" political views may see fewer "get out and vote" ads than people who hold "wanted" political views - therefore nudging the vote. I recommend anyone to read "1984" - it was written a relatively long time ago, but is even more relevant now.
  24. The haters are strange to me. I personally dislike quite a few things, but I usually just ignore them, instead of joining a forum dedicated to the thing I dislike just to bash its fans and get into conflicts. Especially if it's just a TV show or a movie or something else that does not affect me in any way. Now, if such a topic comes up in some other forum, I may participate in it, if I have strong opinions on the matter. The difference is that if the forum is not directly related to the thing we may have an actual discussion (people from both sides hopefully having a civilized discussion) instead of me vs everyone else, because I went to the place where everyone has a different opinion from mine.
