  1. I got used to it in kindergarten to be honest... There are times where I do think "we'll go to town and do this" and then remember there is no "we"...and I've got too much other stuff to do...so distraction?
  2. Why is it that when things are looking up, going well, something bad has to happen, leaving my life at a neutral to negative feeling? I mean it's happened within a day and over years it seems...why though?
  3. Mostly older, as in pre 2006, as there seemed to be a change from "country rock" to "rap with a guitar and southern accent with little effort" and then they killed the pedal steel. Then again if you were to look at what I listen to and what I have, you would probably go "what?". From Lawrence Welk to ACDC to CW McCall to big bands.
  4. I used to watch NCIS, couldn't stand the other two...Blue Bloods kinda replaced NCIS for some reason for me.
  5. I guess not so much on cartoons but when the series ends...not what happens in the finale, if there is one, but once the final credit makes it across the screen, it hits me that "that was IT, x many years and now its DONE. Now what do I do? There will never be more."
  6. Screwing around at a farm show I grabbed a acetylene torch on display and pretended to "cut" my cousin. Guy asked me if I was buying it as he hurriedly took it. I said yes. He said he wasn't selling a "precision instrument" to a kid. Went across the isle and bought one. He scowled at me. It's not my fault I look young. At a farm toy show I found a mini track hoe toy I had as a kid and was showing it to a different cousin of how it worked when I was rudely yelled(loud enough to get the attention of everyone near by) at that I was paying for it if I broke it, the tag said $15 so I pulled out a $20 and the lady running the booth took the toy instead and wandered off. More of a "lots if eyes on me" trouble....both over the age of 16.
  7. An 80 year old couple. She was fine for the most part, but still tested positive two weeks later, he got to the ventilator stage but the local doctor who drove him to the hospital told him he will not wake up again after he gets put on, do the transfusion. 3 days later he tested negative and came home. He said it wasn't that bad, just like a bad cold/pneumonia type of deal, he didn't think he needed the ventilator and well he didn't.
  8. They have become the world's most valuable sports team if I recall correctly. Otherwise it's a bunch of millionaires playing catch, I don't feel too bad for them, unless something like "we will give you a bonus to put someone on the injured list for the rest of the year" happens to them. I guess wentz is one I do feel somewhat bad for, gets them just about to the superbowl and then gets injured and then was basically benched and now wants to go elsewhere, but that's mostly because he is a "home town" player, which hasn't happened in a long time.
  9. Why are row crop planters still insanely expensive and the wrong size? Why is row crop anything expensive? After reading some replies here: I wonder if Zoom is as bad a Skype was?
  10. Sitting in a tractor cab. It's just me and my thoughts. Phone sits in the cooler so I can selectively ignore it and we get a few decent music stations most of time time. Every now and then something happens to break up the monotony, but otherwise it is just me in a sea of dirt or grass, with the hum of the Diesel engine, the cab fan, and if it is warm, the AC system kicking on and off. Like being totally disconnected from the world and its troubles.
  11. I'm surprised too as you ask anyone else and they look at you like "What? Where's the punchline?" Does yours have "food wars" with other stations too? Ours is currently battling Cenex with a slushie, shake, and ice cream machine and Cenex has met them and hit back with a small sub and pizza shop in store, which it sounds like that is why K&G is remodeling currently.
  12. CENEX/CHS, Kum and Go, Holiday, Tesoro, Arco, and a few that I'm sure are local only brands. Oh its Cenex-Harvest States by the way...big Co-op company.
  13. Cows, lost people, and at about midnight UPS to drop off that day's worth of "well that took a while as I forgot I ordered this"
  14. Take a horse, paint it red, paint its mane white and trim it, then paint its belly, bottom of neck and face white, give it horns and an obsession with 5 gallon buckets and you get that, but not a horse.
  15. That era for us was "oooh a computer...wow what do you do with it though? Oh you can do that?... if we get rich we'll get one, they don't really have a use to us yet" and in 2004 we got a PC...and didn't do much on it...and in 2011 or so got internet...and didn't do much on it...and in 17 got fiber to the home...and well we do slightly more on it, mostly because we are forced to...still not a terrible lot though. The AMPS cell phone system is dearly missed around here though. Sure it may have taken a bag phone and a 5 foot trunk antenna, but you could get a call out to say you got stuck on our poor roads and are not dead. Now its climb up on top of the tractor cab and hope your text will send that says "stk 2 f hm" and hope someone on the other end with understand that it means "stuck 2 miles from home".
  16. Tl;dr: yes but just on Fimfiction, why and what I read, I haven't got a clue. Well I never was much of a fiction reader, but Fimfiction is kinda what turned on the light for "hey there is an internet community on MLP" as I don't recall what or how I even found it but during this year's drought while haying I couldn't get too far ahead of the baler so I basically sat in creeper gear or did a round and then waited a half an hour so...out of desperation I got into it? I just remember that I ignored (and still ignore) the front page and just go by the "also liked" and "recommended" below each story... According to what I can find the first one I read was part of a 230 part monster staring in 2013 and ending in 2020, about the male version of MLP...and from there to depressing ones about trixie to happier ones to ones with OCs to stumbling across another monster of a series...I remember there being alot of "meh" and now alot of what I had read looks "meh" compared to the higher quality ones I found. I don't know...theres just something about OCs and MLP...I know some I have read did feel like they should have been episodes and others could be a small spin off aimed at more mature audiences. I don't really know why...I suspose to pass the time, especially with our drought and now winter less winter, there isn't much to do...
  17. It's sad that, that is true...at least these "independent, specialized" forums haven't went that way...or not as much anyway...it is a shame though, having to remember 20 different logins instead of one, but what is done is done.
  18. Well first one I can think of is my cousin and I had a small but somewhat popular minecraft server, one time we were in the super flat mode and decided to base the economy on TNT and its resources, with work and pay being available in our TNT plant. Chests were outlawed, so we had a massive, somewhat realistic, multi story building/factory, made out of wood. It even had a "fast response fire extinguishing system". The problem with being half realistic was that meant no torches. Well in a stroke of luck trying to chase one explosive being out, a redstone torch got accidentally placed in an isle, in the middle of the storage part, and at the same time I hear over Skype "lightning struck the roof, it's on fire!". Well 6 hours of trying to restart the server later, we got it up and all what was left for a ways was just bedrock and water left over from the anti fire system. A day before we managed to convince most of the people help take inventory and I remember writing it down, something like 3.5 or 4.5 million blocks of TNT and laughing at that. Recently: having Arthur conveniently fall off a cliff or not be where he should be in cut scenes in RDR2. "Athur! You coming with?" "Wha-woah aaaaaahhhh" thud "good then let's get going". Its way funnier when you actually see it, especially the one where he is forced to clean up before he enters camp. The line is something like "it wont kill you" or "is it really too much to ask" and switch to Arthur either jumping or falling off the cliff at Horseshoe Overlook. More recently: I figured I'd give the game "Uboat" a shot. So far I have sunken more ships by them running me over and scraping their bottom open when I'm sitting at parascope depth trying to get away than I have in any other way...I wonder if that would have worked during the war?
  19. Most of today's "comedy shows"...or...well It'd be easier to list shows that I actually watch or like I think(for this millennium anyway). Granted I don't watch much from this millennium, but still. I mean at one time they tried to be funny...now it's like they were told "here's what our news show reported today, come up with a script that is closely related to that, do not deviate from it"
  20. I had never head of C&H until we got internet in 2011 or so, so...I like "Good Ol' Charlie Brown" as it was in the daily paper. I don't exactly think it's a fair comparison...from what I've seen of c&h, it's more humor than anything and Peanuts is more "life with humor", such as when Snoopy's dog house BURNT DOWN, and he was worried about his paintings, and Lucy was convinced that he was smoking in bed.(from the late 50s I believe). Also the fact that Schultz was basically blind and shaking like a sieve for the last 5-10 years and still made them because he wanted to.
  21. I don't exactly want any cancelled...overhauled is more like it, tear it completely apart, update if necessary, possibly let it sit for a short period of time torn apart, then put it back together and run it. The Simpsons are one that definitely needs to be...it feels like its around to be around last I saw it. Same goes for Spongebob, its fallen a long ways from it was in 1999 or even in 2005. So far in my run of "watch this show in order without interruptions" 8 and 9 I would say kinda put it there too...for reasons that don't belong in this thread. Oh and any of those "comedy" shows that are on after the 10 o'clock news...they don't even try anymore. Including SNL
  22. The set of M1 rifles made by The International Harvester Company and a revolver like a Colt .45 or Dragoon that is nicely engraved with fancy designs, like how you see some of them from the old west, pearl grips, etc. Oh and a "Rifleman" Winchester and my Grandfather's very odd sized Mauser...can't find ammo for it but neat otherwise. A Thompson with a drum would be neat too...probably would never use them much though...I'm going to stop there before I end up listing most of the firearms ever made.
  23. Loner from about day 3, everyone else was a true kid then and I, not being around other kids in my life aside from my similar cousins, was not. Then moving into a "good ol' boys" community and farming didn't help any either. Unless you count being that kid who knew the staff and "the people in high places", then I was the clique of one kid and however many staff. Looking back, it probably didn't help(get accepted by other kids) any, but at least having the principal as a neighbor and she knowing that I stayed quiet and was probably a bit too honest, it kept me from being picked on. I suspose it was somewhat weird...everyone else talking about homework or tv or whatever rumor during lunch with each other and then theres me talking cars, farming, markets, and politics with the janitors and cooks at a separate table.
  24. Ehh... no. When you upload a video to YouTube nowadays, you have to chose "this video is made for children" or "this video is not made for children" choosing "made for children " puts it on the YT kids app and parental controls and such, but automatically permanently turns off the comments, adding to lists, etc, as...people suck and a few people ruin everything, whether it be through them actually commenting things children probably shouldn't read/should be removed or places/government not keeping up with the times and not wanting to understand anything considered "modern". So YouTube-google decided that instead of verifying age/hiring moderation/putting some time and effort into something for once, to just disable them. Oh and sometimes you have to argue against their opinion on your video, like we have decided to try the "YouTube farmer" thing and YouTube keeps reclassifying all of our videos as "made for kids" for unknown reasons...so as a result we don't grow. ---- My "grinds my gears" is we have all this technology and it seems like the majority of people want to avoid using technology to fix (or learn about) technological problems, see the YouTube mess that I talked about. Also the "grind it 'til you make it" people on manual transmissions. Sure you can float gears sometimes but that's not how you do it or learn how to do it. -- Oh and for the "charmin roll is too big", they'll send you a free adapter for your holder...or so it says on their package.
