  1. There is a new Rainbow Power that has been put in the toys a lot these days and we have reasons to believe that it will be incorperated in the show - mainly because there are actual non-stock images of them as rainbow ponies and the toys are designed differently from some of the animated designs. So I think the thread has more to do with that than the keys. But that is just my opinion... we will see where this carries us.
  2. I would like to talk with her because she does seem cool and easy to talk to. It's harder in con space though because I would be approaching her from a fan standpoint instead of just having a conversation. And I haven't even seen that much of what she's in, I just know that we have Abridged Series and MLP in common lol
  3. Well I would suggest maybe splitting the hotel room with other people. See if you can find people who can share a room with you, perhaps another parent and their kid? I am older and have looked for older roommates but I have had success in finding roommates over the Internet (usually the convention's forums). Looking on travel websites to get the cheapest deal on hotels in Baltimore. Your parent can also sign up on Groupon where they can look for deals on hotels. That is how my husband and I were able to afford a hotel in downtown Chicago for 4 days.
  4. I have never had a conversation with her but I have seen Nowacking for the past couple of years at Youmacon in Detroit. She is famous in the Abridged Series world as well as the MLP world which I think is cool because I am very into both of those things as well.
  5. This is what I thought. You are right about Rainbow Dash. And Applejack needs to confront her problem with more power than required to flip. It just doesn't make sense for the character to power up if the character herself did nothing to gain that power up, you know? Bashscript, if you do not believe us, then my suggestion would be to look at the Enterplay Facebook page to see what they are saying. You can also contact them directly for rule clarification. My guess, though, is that you have been playing the game incorrectly and in your brother's favor. Try playing with this rule in mind, and remember what I told you about preventing Rarity from flipping.
  6. A couple of things. I don't think that it would fit to have the card say "involved" for Rarity. "When you score at least 2 points involving this card's problem, flip" is essentially saying the same thing... I am pretty positive that Rarity - and all the other mane cards for that matter - need to be confronting their problems in the way the description says. Someone more well-versed in the game can correct me if I am wrong, but it seems REALLY unfair to have the rest of the mane 5 be able to flip with the help of friends but Twilight herself needs to be involved in the faceoff. BUT EVEN IF RARITY DIDN'T HAVE TO BE AT THE PROBLEM TO FLIP, it is still possible to prevent her from flipping by confronting Rarity's problem first. As a rarity player, last time I played, I couldn't flip for the longest time because my husband confronted my first problem first. And being unable to flip held me back considerably. But yeah could someone when knows the rules super well clarify if mane characters can only flip if they themselves are at a particular problem?
  7. I am not certain if each Inspired card adds up to looking at more cards. But you need to find ways to counter Rarity. The first thing you want to try to do is make sure that he does not flip immediately. That might be hard to do but I don't think that he can flip Rarity on turn 1 because it costs 2 action tokens to move Rarity to a problem plus he has to pay action tokens to place a non-white character to a problem. Because Twilight needs to flip for a faceoff anyways, you should play her at your brother's problem first, not your own. The longer you can keep Rarity from flipping, the better. Also, the sooner you flip Twilight, the more powerful you will be. If you can play a Troublemaker on your first turn to your brother's problem, that will also help. If you go first, that will help a lot. If you can make your side of the problem overpowered, then your chances are better for winning a faceoff, even if your flip is not that great. I do hope this helps. This all comes from someone whose mane is Rarity.
  8. Yup, I have decided to take my deck down to 45 cards but I will be getting a few more white cards for my deck. It is just good to know that I can have 50 cards in my deck and it would not be against the rules. You just don't want to have 70 cards in your draw deck lol. That would be bad.
  9. That just sounds like a collosal waste of government money. lol If being a brony were illegal, that would be the stupidest thing to happen in the 21st century. When you think of all the terrible things that ARE legal, why the hell would the government pick on bronies? I'd move to Canada if that happened.
  10. Good to know! And adjoining rooms sound fun. I have never been to a con with that many friends (I also don't think that the Renaissance Center has adjoining rooms but there are lots of Youmacon overflow hotels) but that sounds like fun. If the hotel let's you split a suite among a bunch of people then sleeping on the couch/floor wouldn't be so miserable.
  11. I have tons of cards already, haha. I started out buying the booster packs and got a bunch of them for Christmas. The problem with booster packs is that you do tend to get a lot of cards that you aren't looking for. It is good to get them at first when you start building but I feel that once there is an established deck then it is just better to buy the singles outright. Because we got all 4 decks we have an extra deck that I put together - Twilight and Pinkie Pie. We will see if we can get my brother-in-law and his girlfriend into the game. He bought me the Twilight deck for Christmas because he knew that I wanted cards but I already had the Twilight deck and that was the only MLP CCG thing at Target. But he hasn't returned it yet to my knowledge and may just keep it and learn the rules. His girlfriend's favorite is also Rarity so if she wanted to get into the game I could give her some of the cards.right depend on who she wants as her secondary though. Probably Pinkie Pie.
  12. A part of me wishes I had waited for those reverse decks because my mane is Rarity and my husband's mane is Applejack. I am thinking if getting another Rarity deck to get some more of rhose cards, but I am hoping that they just have the foils on eBay instead... that way we don't end up with tons of extra cards. I accidentally bent one of my Videla Swoons and one of my Opalescences while shuffling my deck yesterday. Booooo! That would be a good reason to buy the deck because Videla is a fixed card only found in that Rarity deck and no one on eBay is selling it. I did buy more Opals though. I got all my yellow cards in the mail yesterday. I am still waiting for a couple of white cards, and I also ordered a couple more white cards today.
  13. OP, I want to throw my two cents out there. I do NOT recommend having 8-10 people in a hotel room with you. Yes it may cost less but if you can save a few extra dollars it is far better to have a room with 4-5 people like the room maximum says. Here is why: 1. Safety. It is a FIRE HAZARD to have that many people staying in a standard hotel room. That makes it ILLEGAL to stuff your room like that. 2. When everybody decides to stuff their hotel rooms with people, the elevators to go to and from your room are a living hell to wait for. Because the wait is so long, people go down to go up and go up to go down, which causes even MORE conjestion. 3. Seriously, there is no room to have 8 people in a 4 person room. You can fit 5, MAYBE 6 in that room, but there is literally no way to keep your space if everyone is sleeping on top of each other. 4. I want to tell you about the Youmacon hotel. Youmacon is held at the Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center, which is the tallest hotel in the western hemisphere with over 1200 rooms and it is 73 stories high. In 2011, 2012, and 2013, the entire hotel was sold out. In 2012, the Marriott had suspicion that there would be WAY more people staying in their rooms than their gigantic hotel could hold, so they decided to only allow 4 people per room and give those 4 people wristbands, leaving the rest of the people who intended on staying in crowded rooms to fend for themselves. Anyways, while their actions in 2012 were sudden and not good (the con and the hotel came to a resolution that they could both agree on for 2013) they had totally legitimate reasons for forcing the 4 to a room policy. It costs them MORE money for twice as many people staying at the hotel to shower and use the rest of their resources, their rooms are almost always messier - or trashed - than rooms that have fewer people in them. On top of it being a fire hazard and illegal - the fire marshal was giving Youmacon stern looks in 2011 when there were too many people even in the con space (Youmacon had to expand to Cobo Hall where the Detroit International Auto Show is held). 5. The people who tend to stuff their rooms full of people tend to be younger because they have less money, so you have a good chance of getting immature roommates. As one could probably tell, I do take this subject very seriously. In my mind and for these reasons, having more than the maximum capacity in your room is a no-no.
  14. I'm surprised that a con in Chicago hasn't popped up yet. Because from where I live train tickets to Chicago are decently inexpensive (far less expensive than flying anywhere and when it comes to Chicago it is cheaper to take a train than it is to drive and pay the boatload for parking). And Chicago is a pretty big city and I'm sure that bronies would flock to a con in that area. I mean I would be happier with Detroit since it's much closer to my home but I can't be too picky. Bronies around here don't seem to be too interested in meetups. Although maybe the card game will change that...
  15. Know about it? I remember back when that website was called tvtome.com, and I remember when it changed and I joined their forums so that I could argue with a person who thought that Teen Titans was a terrible cartoon. I stopped going there because it was bs. Given that they had a broken poll that was easy for bots to manipulate, I see that things haven't changed, or that things have gotten worse.
  16. I have been to BronyCon once and the Detroit anime convention, Youmacon, 5 times. Travelling specifically for a con is extremely expensive. As much as I would like to go to BronyCon again, taking a plane and staying at a hotel is a lot. Although you said that the main hotel is already booked? There are lots of hotels to stay at and it is entirely possible that they can add to the room block. Which con do you live closer to? I recommend going to that one. Going to a con for the first time is easier when you live closer. My first Youmacon was a 20-30 minute drive from my house and I was only able to stay for a short while. I was only able to go to BronyCon in 2012 because I was going to be on the east coast around that time anyways. Basic con tips: Eat decently healthy, drink water, sleep, SHOWER Don't be shy, talk to people and be friendly. Don't be awkward. Bring lots of cash Split a room with people. You can find people online to room with. I have done this and it has turned out well. When the schedule comes out, plan ahead. The longer you are at the con, the better. Don't be too mad if you have to miss an event for whatever reason. The schedule that you set is adaptable. I have a lot more where that came from but that should get you started.
  17. OK then. But the theme decks don't have more than 45 cards in them. I mean they also have mane characters and a problem deck and the score slider cards, but I counted and they each have 45 cards.
  18. Where does it say that you can have more than 45? Because that is helpful... instead of trying to figure out which cards to get rid of when I get my new cards, I can just add them to my deck... It is ridiculously difficult to get Ultra Rares. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HSTzcjgqtFw Yeah. I wouldn't count on getting Ultra Rares.
  19. My husband and I finally got the chance to play through a game last night. He beat me by 3 points. I shouldn't have gone easy on him... We played using the starter decks, and then afterwords we each built our own decks (mine is Rarity/Fluttershy or White/Yellow, and his is Applejack/Rainbow Dash or Orange/Blue). A lot of the yellow cards that come with the Fluttershy starter deck are pretty lame, though, so I ordered a bunch more powerful and rare yellow cards off ebay. I could use more powerful white cards too, but Rarity boosted is good enough for me for now. It is extremely difficult to only have a 45 card draw deck. Very limiting.
  20. Looks like it. Keep in mind that the Apples and Oranges affect only lasts until the end of the phase. You will have successfully confronted It's Alive and if you are the first person to confront it, you will score one point plus its bonus points. But after your turn, you won't be fulfilling its requirements anymore, although you still get the points. It might be good to wait until you need to have a problem faceoff with someone before using it, because that power will remain throughout and it may give you an edge in the faceoff depending on how many points your opponent has.
  21. So they have Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon. But no Sweetie Belle or Scootaloo. This disappoints me. I like having mini figures of minor characters but while missing major characters? Seems weird to me.
  22. It was also in the best interest of the fandom to not have Twilight become an alicorn. Honestly, while I do like it and accept it, I can't say that it was something that I really wanted to have happen before we knew that it was a possibility. I don't think most people could say that. But I think that now the alicorn Twilight drama has died down and we have seen her in the show as an alicorn for long enough, I think it is safe to say that it wasn't a horrible decision. Sometimes things happen that the fandom doesn't specifically ask for, but it works out for the show anyways as long as they handle it right. Shoehorning Flash into the show would be an unwise decision. I think the writers knew that because Flash is not going to be in season 4. However I am open to having him as a minor character later on. If he is going to be a love interest in any way, it will take a while for that to develop properly. The fans may not want it, for the most part, but if it is done right, they will live with it. Besides, it is good for the fandom to not always be pandered to.
  23. I absolutely agree. I also disapprove with how easy it is to stumble upon R34 by accident. I am not one of those people who complains that R34 ruins the innocence of the show (because if you are personally against R34 you won't let R34 taint your personal image of the show) but the fact that you can do a Tumblr search for MLP and have the majority of it come up as R34 is irritating. Why does the fandom have to be so open about their sexual deviances? It just makes bronies look like they have no social filter at all whatsoever. I have said this before (though it has been a while): I am against all forms of pornography and the masturbation that follows from it. Because of this, though, I am finding that judging every single person who currently masturbates basically means condemning the majority of men on the planet. I don't think that is my place to do that, even if I do believe that it is morally wrong. Why should I primarily see the "bad" in these men when I also know that there is good? I wish that I didn't know about people's kinks on a personal basis just because it does alter my image of them at least temporarily. I like to see the good in people, and I like to see them for their talents and their kindness and their intelligence, because to me that matters far more than sex. Don't get me wrong, sex is an important biological function (and it's fun too!) and our sexuality does affect our lives in particular ways, but at the same time I do not think it is healthy to consume ourselves with sex. There is a middle ground somewhere. There usually is.
  24. My brother-in-law gave me 4 booster packs of the MLP card game. I ended up getting 2 foils and a few other cool cards.
