  1. I've been plotting a story off and on for many years, and I'm reevaluating the characters as I've grown older and have gained a better understanding of what makes people tick. I'd been having trouble with characterizing one female character in particular. I had no idea how I was going to portray her in a consistent manner. Then, while thinking about my story and looking at my MLP calendar with a picture of Rarity on it, I decided that I would base the majority of this character off Rarity herself. It was an Hallelujah Chorus moment.
  2. From the "How Old is Granny Smith" topic. This got me thinking a bit. Most of the time during the show, it seems to either be spring or summer. Only one episode is during the fall and 2 are during the winter. But if Equestrian years do not last as long as earthly years, this makes things a little confusing. This has to be because the writers/animators haven't really been paying attention to which season the ponies are in, but I'd like for there to be a better explanation than that. >.>
  3. Discord was too awesome to not feature at least once more. I'd wait until the series draws more to a close, though.
  4. 1. I tend to enjoy cartoons that are anime-esque at least in some way. That art style in Western cartoons is what initially draws me to them. It's how I got into Teen Titans back in high school. 2. The acting and the writing are actually good. I miss cartoons that have both of those qualities. Children these days need quality entertainment that will keep them nostalgic for the rest of their lives, too. Those were the initial reasons for me liking the show. I've developed more reasons later as I kept watching the show.
  5. Oooooo I like the Bronyland one. Myers-Briggs, I am technically Fluttershy. But I'm not quite so shy/submissive/non-confrontational... plus I like logic and intelligence and all that fun stuff, so Twilight makes sense as well, even though Twilight and I don't share the same personality type. We don't make decisions in the same way.
  6. Someone answer zee question at hand pwetty pweaz :3
  7. Only 100? Doubt it. When typing "my little pony friendship is magic" in a YouTube search, you come up with over 90,000 results. There's no way all 100 bronies have made 900 MLP videos each.
  8. mqvgca gldrn evgg I typed with a coffee mug and a glass. Two hooves. Next: Gorgonzola cheese and the finest wine
  9. Pencils, this is awesome. Thanks so much for the insight. I know this girl IRL who is just like Pinkie Pie in many ways (especially with her ENFP personality type) so reading about Pinkie Pie was a lot like reading about the girl I know... it's extremely uncanny. I have a question though... do you think that you'd be able to use MBTI to analyze the other ponies? Pinkie Pie, according to your theory, may be the most misunderstood, but that doesn't mean that people completely understand the rest of them.
  10. Necroing this thread because I want to respond. I've been learning about Personality Type off and on and I like discussing it. I'm an ISFP. Every time I've taken the test though my percentages have been different. I've gotten ISFJ at times when I've taken it as well, but whenever I compare the traits of a J versus a P, I lean heavily towards the P traits. I just occasionally have strong J tendencies. Then again, I have tendencies for all the other opposing letters but I don't think they're as strong. Yes I agree that the majority of people are saying that they're introverted is because the majority of people who develop social lives on the Internet are definitely introverted. They get the benefits of developing a social life without draining their energy by physically being around people. There is definitely something very appealing to that. Also, I don't completely agree with the MLP chart. For example, I think that Twilight is an ISTJ not an INTP, and many of these other letters are simply forced fill-ins because they needed a pony representative. Now I don't really know what Apple Bloom's MBTI is, but I find that saying she's an ENTP is a bit of a stretch for some reason. But perhaps this is better for another thread.
  11. Applejack would be an awesome roommate. She cooks and cleans up after herself. At least, she would be the type to clean up after herself. Now I'm not a neat-freak. I don't give a hoot about clutter. But I've seriously had roommates who leave the kitchen and the living room a huge mess and all that crap was theirs and none of it was mine. And even when they were doing nothing but loafing around the house, they didn't seem to ever have time to clean. Funny how that happens. And that kitchen was gross. Dishes piled in the sink for weeks. Not cool. So yeah, I like roommates who I know are dependable and reliable. Applejack is the most like that.
  12. It's not about a particular age range, necessarily. If you say that people shouldn't get married until their mid-twenties, for example, then under simple conclusions that would make marriages that happen before that age stupid, and marriages that happen around or after that age smart. Not everyone is ready to marry at 27, and some are ready to marry at 21. The reason for divorce, I think, is primarily because people get married for the wrong reasons. Instead of marrying out of real love for one another, perhaps one of the parties needs healing and they think that one particular person will solve their problems, or one of the parties needs to gain independence from their family, or they're trying to get over a previous lover. They use the institution of marriage to make them happy, believing that it will get rid of their personal problems, rather than finding the real solution to their life problems before tying the knot. I do like to believe that most people know how to do at least some introspective thinking, and they know how to dig deep to solve their own emotional problems rather than use another means to make themselves happy. But there are still many people who rely on "things" to hide their problems, whether they realize it or not. Some of the most common and extreme "things" are alcohol and drugs. But some people are addicted to other "things," like shopping and the Internet. Others are addicted to sex and/or emotional relationships. People who simply like being in a stable relationship will feel like their life is being held together by something that couldn't have possibly been there before the relationship started. The fact of the matter is that life is unpredictable and relationships are so much more complicated than some people realize. You can't just get a spouse and call that spouse yours forever and expect him/her to do everything you want him/her to do... after all, s/he's a human being too! S/he will make mistakes and do things that will make you angry. You will fight, especially as you get to know and interact with each other more. You will get hurt. Your expectations will be broken, maybe shattered. But that's because we're human and we make mistakes. Another human being cannot fix your problems as if this other human being is a god. There is hope. You can reconcile, and you can forgive. You can promise to do better, and if you are devoted to keeping that promise, you will eventually become better. It's not easy, but whoever said that the true ability to love was easy?
  13. I've usually just shown people the first 2 episodes. But some of these other ones are good suggestions for people who despise MLP without ever seeing it... we all know that the majority of those types are just bronies who don't want to be bronies.
  14. The show hasn't changed my life all that significantly. But one thing I have noticed is that even though the friendship morals seem simple and childish, and it can be tempting to gloss over them, it's actually the simple things in life that either we forget or we take for-granted, and it's the simple things that are most important. It's good to be reminded of these simple truths on a regular basis, otherwise we lose sight of how we should be living our lives.
  15. It's because the animators are foreshadowing when humans will be introduced to the series. JUST KIDDING, Hell will freeze over before that ever happens in g4 MLP.
  16. Your avatar and the fact that I finally finished reading through the Pinkie Pie character analysis thread made me lol XD My sentiments exactly. I also believe that there could be an extremely positive way to tackle the issue without making it too depressing. I was lurking in some other thread that people like this show because it makes people happy. I think it's possible to make something like this, in the end, happy. It would be difficult to write, but the writers could do it.
  17. I actually disagree with you about how it should not pass. I think it is important for children to be aware of death, I mean just because it's sad it doesn't mean that we should shelter kids from it. Death is a reality and there are some kids whose parents have died too. Maybe kids would be able to relate to Applejack and Big Macintosh and Applebloom if they saw that their parents were dead, too. Plus it would add a lot of depth to their characters and it could be really interesting. I remember an episode of Hey Arnold! where Arnold's grandpa I think was telling Arnold the story about his parents and how they were explorers and they could never be found or something. I don't think they outright mention that they died, but it seemed hiiiighly unlikely that they survived. As for the head honchos allowing Applejack's parents to be dead, I think you're right that they most likely wouldn't allow it, at least not as a TV show. Unfortunately there are a lot of soccer moms out there who get their panties in a bunch anytime they see something on TV that their kids are watching that they don't like. I think if there was going to be an MLP movie though they could get away with death. I mean people die in kids' movies all the time.
