  1. Funny this should be posted, I'm actually writing an essay on why adults do watch "children's" cartoons. I'm too lazy to go into it in too much detail, but I will say that cartoons being viewed as "just for children" isn't true for every country. I believe in France, for example, cartoons and animation is highly respected, and seeing middle-classed business men on the train reading graphic novels on the way to work is fairly common. But I'm not French, so I don't really know how true that is. [rant] As an animation student, I despise the fact that cartoons and 2D animation are viewed as a "minor art form" by the general public in many parts of the world. However, what I hate even more is the "just for kids" notion. I have so many issues with it. What does it even mean? The "just" is so patronising. It makes it sound as if it should be treated with less respect simply because it's targeted at a younger audience. I never hear anyone say, "Oh, it's just for adults". Well, not in the same sense, anyway. The worst thing about it is this kind of attitude is that it effects the industry as well. "Well, it's just for kids, so I suppose we don't have to put as much effort into the narrative. They won't mind being treated ." (Yeah, I'm looking at you, British children's entertainment.) Yes, there are many fantastic cartoons and children's media out there, and I hate the fact that if you're above a certain age, you're told that you shouldn't consume it. I hate the fact that many societies look down on cartoons and see it as a less valuable source of entertainment. Most of all, I hate the fact that in doing so, that in treating it as a "just", they look down on children as well. [/rant] Now excuse me, I'm gonna go and find out when the next episode of Gravity Falls is gonna air, and then finish re-reading Alice In Wonderland again. Grr. Fear my rebelliousness.

  3. I heard one of the guys from mind.in.a.box is putting together a project where he won't be using any of his own sounds, but rather sounds clips the public send him. I love m.i.a.b and it sounds like it's gonna be pretty gitchy, so I'm pretty excited.
  4. I was waiting for a thread like this to pop up. I'm actually listening to T3R at the moment. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y4fXF0QrIvo Also, do related genres like Futurepop count?
  5. This... This was awesome. It had an almost Glitch-y sound to it. Speaking of Glitch, anyone else here a fan of Opiou? I'm also gonna post some She just because.
  6. 8/10. Very descent. I didn't like the tone of the piano much, but aside from that it was a good listen. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XMbvcp480Y4
  7. I think she's been paired with Octy because of the whole "opposites attract" kind of thing. I actually think it works really well, they're musicians, so they have that in common, but their fanon personalities are completely different, which makes things interesting. It's also adorable. As for her music, I think people have declared that she makes Dubstep mostly because it's a form of electronic music that's "in" at the moment. I see her as an electronic artists, yes, I think it suits her. However, when she says "drop the base", In my head she means kinds of bass. I can kind of see her as a hard Rock musician as well, though. Maybe even old school Punk.
  8. I tried getting into Dubstep really hard, but I just haven't been able to. I do listen to some Dubstep influenced genres, sometimes Glitch is influenced by it, for example, and I can tolerate a bit of Brostep. As far as wubs go, they're awesome. The wubs in Dubstep however, kind of annoy me most of the time.
  9. OctaScratch is the only ship I can be bothered to even remotely care about. Maybe it's because I like Classical music and Electronic music, maybe it's because the two characters are interesting and balance each other out well... or maybe it's just because they're freaking adorbz.
  10. I don't have any tattoos, but I've been meaning to a small design I made for a while now The only thing really holding me back is my extremely low pain tolerance.
  11. 7.5/10 Never played Borderlanders, but cool song bro.

I like how we're away from Industrial Metal into plain ol' post-Industrial. I'l keep it heavy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-XNm6u8oUjw I do love my Harsh EBM. Untz untz untz. @, That was... pretty awesome. Reminds me of guys a little.
  13. Dune 2000. The most underrated RTS game of all time. It was the first PC game I ever owned, and to this day, it's still my favorite. I also have it on PS1, but the PC version is a thousand times better. Incidentally, it's also the reason I became a Dune fanboy.

How about Industrial Metal with Black Metal influences? I never did get into Mushroomhead, though. Then again, I haven't heard a great deal of their stuff, but their sound just never appealed to me much.

Hooray for Industrial Metal. This thread needs more Industrial. Also hooray for it's close relative, Cyber Metal. I'm also gonna post these guys up, because they're pretty awesome. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HAB79iEw5SI People keep saying this, but I've seen them life twice, once in '07, and once last year when they supported Maiden, and they were great. They did have a terrible tour in '06 I think, when they completely screwed everything up.
  17. @@chattydash, Hansel looked at Toxic dancing, and then down at the clothes handed to him. "Oh, thanks, Chatty. These'll do nicely." He smiled at the two and took a few sips of his rum before heading inside to get changed, stumbling a little on the way. *hic* "Oh dear..." After a bit, he came back out wearing the clothes chatty had given him, taking another sip from his rum. He went over and sat back down by the pool. "You know, I don't think I've ever worn brown before. If I visualise my wardrobe, I can't see any brown at all. Mind you, brown is a very interesting colour. It reminds me of watermelons. I don't like watermelons much, though. I can tolerate them, and if I had to choose, I'd much rather have a watermelon to a melon. Melons are awkward. Watermelons are at least refreshing. Do we have any watermelons? we can throw them in the pool and see whether or not they float."
  18. @@chattydash, Just wondering, what are the clothes did you give Hansel? (types of clothing, coloures, that sort of thing.)
  19. @@chattydash, Hansel looked up. Whether it was the alcohol's effects taking place, or just because of the speed of everything, he wasn't entirely sure what had just happened. All he knew was that his face and clothes were covered in cold beer, and that Chatty was standing above him with a worried expression. He put two and two together. "It's... okay." He said "...Really, it's no problem." He looked down at the headphones around his neck. "It's a good thing these are so waterproof." He giggled awkwardly. Hansel regretted not bringing any change of clothes, but didn't anything as he didn't want to upset Chatty. "See, no harm done." He smiled at the two.
  20. Hansel giggled slightly a what was clearly going on between the Rambler, Nightfall, and Minath. He finished his drink and used his magic to bring over the bottle of rum from the main room. He began pouring some into his cup, forgetting about the coke, and started to drink it straight instead.
  21. 9.5/10 I love those guys. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YnaGFCBwLrw
  22. Pfft, Latin is so mainstream. I'll see your Latin and raise you Gaulish. *raises hipster glasses* Gaulish is best extinct language.
  23. My teacher is cool because he did character designs and storyboards for almost every 90's cartoon show ever. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O3hP_OgJcoE Yes... including that. I had another teacher last year who animated this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QNjRExntfbM I don't care what anyone says, that thing is amazing.
  24. Hansel wasn't much of a swimmer, and did't even own any swimming clothes, let alone have any with him. However, this didn't mean he couldn't sit by the pool and be with the others. He followed the ponies out to the swimming area and sat down by the pool with his drink.
  25. That's exactly what I did when I first started watching it. I didn't think season 1 was that great at all, but after my friend asked me if I had watched it and I said that I didn't really get into it, she nagged me to continue watching. I powered through season 1, and when I got to season 2... well, I didn't regret it. And season 3 was even better.
