Is it wrong to have a lot of pony merchandise ?

It's a question that really can only be answered by the purchaser; unless the purchasing habits are affecting those around him/her.

 

In any case I don't see anything wrong behind as long as the person has their finances in order, has enough space so that they aren't just hoarding, and isn't just addicted to it.

I love collecting all kinds of things (I am a huge NFL fan, so I have quite a bit of memorabilia), but have also collected MLP stuff since I was a kid. I have all the ponies (G3) from when I was a kid, plus blind bags, 10 funko variant figures, one poster, nearly all the comics and a few limited edition brushables (ie Zecora, glitter Celestia). As with everything, your collection and desire to collect will change and that's okay too. I'm going to sell most of my blind bags soon, as well as some of my MLB memorabilia. But that's the joy of collecting! Unless it's affecting your money management or financial position, or becoming hording, then it's never too much.

No, no, no! Not at all! You can never have too much of something you love and enjoy! You should see my Lion King collection. I must have around 35 plushies and at least 50 figurines (not to mention posters, tshirts and misc merchandise)! Not all of my Pony collection is on display yet because I need more shelf space but this is some of it (there's a lot more):

I don't see anything wrong with it at all. There are so many bad habits and nasty things people do- so supporting a show you enjoy that has a good, positive message is definitely a good thing. Aside from that, if it makes you happy then there's no reason not to do it. Life's too short to deny yourself something fun and enjoyable if you can afford it and have access to it.

 

Just a thought- I think Pinkie Pie would approve of having a big, awesome collection. Just saying

I agree with most of the people here, it is fine to collect as much pony as you want, just so long as you didn't do anything illegal to get those items. My pony collection is constantly growing and I never expected it to be anything more than 2 soft toys, 2 figurines and a trading card collection.

Long answer: if you have the funds avalible and have the space its 100% fine. Its only a bad thing if you choose pony stuff over more importent things such as rent,food school ect.

Not if ponies are your life and that's what you love to collect the most. But if you like certain characters I would recommend collecting for a certain character and don't collect for characters you don't care for or aren't your favorites. If you love all ponies you can collect a lot of merchandise in general.

I thought I ran into a crisis today since I barely had enough room to keep my latest MLP purchase. I've only been collecting the graphic novels so far but decided to cave in and check out the Elements of Harmony Guidebook, since I figured it's better late than never. Unfortunately, a downside to being a closet fan is that I have to be creative when it comes to deciding where to keep my pony stuff, which severely limits the space I might otherwise have. I guess I should come out of that proverbial closet at some point. It would certainly make my life easier. As it stands, I just found another secret space to put stuff in. My PS3 box is filling up fast, but I have a perfectly hollow PS4 box that I can also keep stuff in.

I think that it depends on 'what' it is. You can have a lot of shirts, posters, but I'd cross the line at toys. Then I personally think it begins to get sad; like the pokemon collectors who have 100s of stuff.

Unless you are spending nearly ALL of your money on pony merch, then there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. That is just you indulging in something that you are passionate about, which is awesome by the way. Plus it supports the show as well, which is always a positive thing.

Your collection is a good size, I would suggest that if you want to get more, then do it, just make sure you dont go broke please, and be prepared to overflow your room with ponies as mine is, I barely have space and I keep buying stuff so make sure you control yourself, Im trying but i cant lol I need to ban myself from the stores for a while. Whenever I see something pony I feel the need to get it, and I seriously should stop xD

No way is it wrong! Like everyone is saying, if you enjoy it then that's all that matters. I have a lot of pony merch; a whole 3 shelves dedicated to it. And that's just one section of my room because I collect a lot of other stuff too like Marvel action figures and Funko pops. And I'm 21. But I don't care, I love it. It has no effect on my work ethic or social life. So as long as you're healthy and it doesn't prevent to from other aspects of life, then have as much pony stuff as you want!

Some people feel as if they need to have a lot of pony merchandise so that they can stay attached to the ponies. Some people buy alot of merchandise so that they can show off all of their stuff, etc etc.

 

There's nothing wrong with having a lot of merchandise, just don't get so much to that point that if someone walked into you're room, they would think you had a mental disorder
