What do you think of the Equestria Daily Comments Section

As title implies, what do you think of the comments section of EQD. Like some of their reactions to stuff and others.

 

Personally, they can be hit or miss. On one hand I can find some funny posts, but on the other hand, there are those people who jump to conclusions and think the show or fandom is dying or something.

I view them like a slightly more mellow version of the youtube comments section. Most comments are worthless and just crap, but there are a few jokes worth a look in there. But I don't really spend much time on the comments as outside like 1 or 2 good jokes they are just kinda a grey zone of meh.

Like mentioned above, it's a soft YouTube comments section. I usually check out the articles and fan works they have, because those are golden, but I rarely ever look at the comments section.

They've either been rubbish or vacuous every time I've looked at them. I go to EqD for news, tips, and the like, not for deep commentary and socialization, so I really don't care how wild it gets. Only comments I look at are the top one or two, because they're typically visible after scrolling to the end of the article. I've seen before many comments get deleted, so I think it's safe to say there are much better places to go for brony interaction.

I'm pretty unimpressed by them tbh. The comments section of music posts are especially vapid and they are contantly riffing off each other and pretty much avoiding talking about the music that was posted. I personally find that rude to do off-topic babble so routinely. Occasionally EQD will ask "what can we do about brony music" and you'll get some well though out replies on that the state of the fandom and listeners however. The time that Seventh Elements got flagged for advertizing by Hasbro, an ad placed by them, and EQD said we should avoid possibly using pony images in songs was the worse case of fandom freakout i've seen in awhile sadly. Some people knee jerk way too hard.

The same thing I think about most comment sections: usually dumb and not worth my attention. Granted, EQD's comments are better than most, but not much much. I don't think any real discussion happens in any comment section, so people just post whatever nonsense they want and leave it at that. Any kind of conversation that does happen in the comments usually devolves into an argument.

 

Sometimes ill skim the comments to get an idea of the general opinion of a certain article. Other than that though, reading each individual post seems like a waste of time, on EQD and elsewhere.

I think it's one of the worst representations of the fandom and is full of some of the biggest jerks in the fandom that I've had the displeasure of aquaintaning myself with

I used to comment on EQD when I first became a Brony and used to get a lot of upvotes, but I soon stopped because it didn't exactly give me the best interaction with other Bronies.

 

The only Brony I remember from the comments is that Kyo guy who is obsessed with Gilda but that's about it. I really don't have a positive or negative opinion of them.

Equestria Daily while not as bad as Youtube comments get some pretty bad comments sometimes especially with off topic posts. I think ED has a bunch of jerks. Like a Smash Bros post triggered a comment against modern Nintendo and when Silly Filly Studios made the Pokémon Shaming video, half of the comments on ED were like "Pokémon? Not interested" or "Pokémon is not pony related!"(Ponyta, Rapidash, and Keldeo say hi!) But the biggest one was the Steven Universe post which got so many negative comments that the post was actually deleted. Not to mention there were anonymous comments negative towrds MLP. So yeah it's so annoying.

Eh. I don't use EqD much, but from the comments section I've seen its bordering on bad. Lot of derpy conclusions/opinions xD
