AveryGamerDude 4,640 July 26, 2014 Share July 26, 2014 I'm a gamer, and I noticed that a lot of people on the internet are EXTREMELY biased towards one console. Like here are some examples: "Xbox One sucks, buy a PS4!" "Every console in the world sucks except for PC and NES." "Buy a PC, console faggots!" While I'm just sitting at the sidelines like: "Erm... just because a game console isn't Nintendo or Playstation doesn't instantly make it bad" It doesn't make any sense. Why does everyone have to be such fanboys? Just because a certain game isn't on a certain console doesn't immediately make it bad. Do you agree that fanboys are the worst thing on the face of the Earth? Or is everyone on this forum a fanboy? Traitors... 13 I HAVE MORPHED 5 EXODIA, SETO KAIBA!! ghostfacekiller39 23,882 July 26, 2014 Share July 26, 2014 (edited) Do you agree that fanboys are the worst thing on the face of the Earth? Gee, thanks. Anyway, in the way you described it, that's not so much as being a fan as much as it is being elitist - just because someone is a fanboy doesn't mean that they're going to put down other things, whether it be games, ponies, whatever. It's usually the fanboys who do that, yes, but that's a really, really, REALLY bad and broad generalization to a large group of people, assuming that they all act in a manner according to the way you described. As a pretty huge Rarity fan boy, I really don't care if people like a different pony. Of course, people seem to love to twist around every thing I say to make it seem otherwise, but really, those people have never once even attempted to talk to me - maybe you should try talking to some of these huge fans and try to get to know a few more of them before writing out a huge, generalized statement declaring them to be the worst thing ever? Speaking as someone who often gets blindly judged by people quite frequently for being a fanboy, that is Gaming or not, no bueno. Moved to Elsewhere 11,331 July 26, 2014 Share July 26, 2014 Because people are just biased towards the console they like. Even though I find PS4 and Xbox One to be pretty much the same console. Also, liking a certain console is subjective. So whether you prefer Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo or PC is still highly subjective and up to the gamer. Since everyone has different opinions, instead of agreeing to disagree, they go and argue with each other. Such a sad world indeed.

Radiance64 7,059 July 26, 2014 Share July 26, 2014 Yeah it's the worst... There's great games to play on pretty much every single platform out there, I just wish idiots like that would let people play what they want and stop hating on people who like playing games they don't, it's just stupid.
Twilight The Creator 298 July 26, 2014 Share July 26, 2014 My mindset is basically this: Enjoy the game whether one platform has better fps or graphics, because it's a game and it's meant to be fun regardless of platform. It's all a matter of opinion. Plus, I can't really say that Xbox > PS4 because I've never HAD a PS4. I've had a PS2 but I just prefer Xbox overall. Each platform has it's advantages: PC: Specs, fps, game library (Steam) PS4: free multiplayer, Dualshock Xbox: exclusives, game library (Consoles) This is all a matter of opinion so add or subtract as you like Kill People, Burn Shit, Fuck School. -Tyler the Creator
(MARVEL) Blue Blood 991 July 26, 2014 Share July 26, 2014 While I prefer Sony's consoles over Microsoft's, I wouldn't shit on people who prefer Microsoft's systems. I'm also not a PC gamer, and I hate it when people go on and on about how much better PC gaming is, and going into things like specs and other things I'm not familiar with. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X8OMqWTE5iIThis guy explains the situation very well. hip-indeed 304 July 26, 2014 Share July 26, 2014 Yeah, well, I understand "loving one thing lots and lots" a la Mr. Rarity Fan up there, which could easily be called 'fanboyism'; I just dislike the fanboy/fangirlism where the person HATES all OTHER things. Surely you don't hate all the ponies other than Rarity, right? You just love rarity by far the most? By that logic, I am a Nintendo fanboy; All their franchises are my absolute favorites, I've owned and loved all their major consoles since the NES days and consider the NES and SNES my favorite consoles ever overall, and they make amazing handhelds too of course (the 3DS being my favorite handheld ever quite possibly, or second closely to the GBA perhaps simply due to the slew of amazing games that thing had and the fact it was basically a portable SNES). HOWEVER, that DOES NOT mean I hate other companies; quite the contrary, I believe Sony had the far superior home console to Nintendo when it came to Playstation vs. N64 and PS2 vs. Gamecube. Dunno how I feel about the last couple generations, kinda goes either way for me. I also love Sega back in its heyday, though I was definitely more of a NIntendo kid when it came to playground debates; the Sonic games for Genesis are easily some of my favorite video games ever made and I believe the Genesis and Dreamcast are two of the best consoles ever. Basically it's fine to love one thing the most by far, but it's kinda silly when you HATE all the others just because they don't fall under your favorite brand's umbrella. Though PC favoritism kinda is a separate thing here, since PC as a whole falls under no specific "brand" (except kinda maybe Microsoft though as far as gaming goes these days it's more like Valve) and there are numerous advantages to using it as a gaming platform, plus most (not all!) the best titles from other consoles these days eventually come to PC as well, often with superior options and the ability to mod and push the graphics and whatnot even further. I say this as a guy who still owns and loves consoles/handhelds as well, but it's getting harder and harder to deny just how good the PC is due to its universality. I still loathe the guys who seriously rag on all non-PC gamers though like they're somehow inherently inferior as people or whatever, though; I just plain don't like rude dudes. 1 (Sig art © uc77)

Gernia 692 July 26, 2014 Share July 26, 2014 I don't like the loudmouth ones who get into stupid arguments over meaningless shit like which one has better graphics or which one has more mature games. I also don't like it when they defend some underhanded business tactic or a terrible game design flaw. It's pretty sad the things people will do sometimes. ShadowPirateX 600 July 26, 2014 Share July 26, 2014 (edited) Fanboys/girls aren't bad. It's the extremists/elitists who loves something to death and berates other people for disagreeing or loving the counterpart that are bad. Loving something to death in general is okay, tough. Because they are obsessed with convincing others that they made the 'right' choice. Not that there is one... just buy whatever plays the games you want to play. Discordian 6,024 July 26, 2014 Share July 26, 2014 (edited) Ghostie had it right. Fanboyism is not inherently a bad thing. It often mixes with elitism as well, sometimes jokingly and sometimes seriously, but overall fanboyism is just EXTREME love of something. There's nothing in the fanboy code saying you have to hate anything that is not or opposes the thing you love. Me? I'm a huge Wild Arms (video game), Sonic the Hedgehog (video game), Kingdom Hearts (video game) and Metal (music) fanboy but I've never hated Mario, Final Fantasy or Country. Fanboyism is just being a super fan. This could mean that you just love it to pieces, that you collect everything even remotely related to it...so many different ways to express fanboyism. So don't get the term confused. Fanboyism itself is not a bad thing. Fanboys can be obnoxious but not just in a "you suck if you don't like it too" way. Ideally, fanboyism is a personal thing. You don't have to share it with anyone. In it's most basic form it just raises your excitability when it comes to the things you love. Don't be so quick to judge us fanboys. We just love to love our loves. Edited July 26, 2014 by Discordian

Azure Envy 1,093 July 27, 2014 Share July 27, 2014 (edited) To be fair, no one should be made to feel bad about whatever system they decide to purchase, unless they feel bad about it themselves. Because I know of one person who purchased a CD-i and that purchase was filled with regret and "I should've known better but I was 10" statements. We all probably should've known better about something at some point in our lives. Edited July 27, 2014 by Lunatic Envy

Swirl 90 July 27, 2014 Share July 27, 2014 I wouldn't really calling that being a fanboy/fangirl of a console, those examples are pretty much people being closed minded jerks who don't accept opinions. To me a fanboy/girl is someone who gets super hyped over a console/game series (cough cough zelda cough), not going around dissing everyone else's opinions. I'm a Zelda and Smash Bros fanboy/fangirl but that doesn't mean I go around insulting other people's taste in games or consoles.
