Went down without a hitch. She's really cool, and pretty easy going.

Also, does anyone know if/when/where the results will be published?

Here is my ponysona Lee! An interesting character, by all accounts.

The split minded adventurer David Pocket is here with Poe to keep him company. (Both in need of very heavy editing :/ )

I would love to participate in this. Hmm, it'd be a long distance call however.

Would you like to play with me? I'd like to play with you, forever, and ever, and ever! No... no you can't have it! It's mine! Stay back!

I think you can arrange via email for them to call you. :)

I always thought long distance charged both ways? Well, if that isn't the case I suppose I may as well give it a shot!

Nope, it's on their dime. When the good Prof. Interviewed me she ended up doing the interview by calling me because we played phone tag. Someone else had the same question and had her schedule a call to him.

Well then, I will most certainly have to give it a go! Thank you for the info.

She also has a Skype.

Skype is completely free BTW. For normal and long distance calls

You only have to live in southern California or attend BronyCon to do an interview in-person. Otherwise, you can do an interview over the phone with Caralou Rosen.

You can sort that out by emailing her: cara_rosen@csu.fullerton.edu.

Anyway to do it if you're eleven and have your parent's permission? Because I would like to contribute, but I'm not eighteen. :(

Unfortunately not. The study does exclude minors :(

Hehehe, wish I could get in on this but you know, I am British so it is hard for me to get in contact. -_-

I kinda don't like how they are researching us as if we are weird or abnormal but whatever I guess we are unique in some ways. :P

I look forward to seeing the results to this.

Hmm. I would still email and see. Maybe they can call you or skype? Timing would be the only question.

The purpose of the study appears to be focused on the effect of the media, media bias, and perceptions of the show because of that.

It's not a study geared toward finding out what makes us weirdos tick :)

those that have been interviewed know EXACTLY what I mean by saying that they were friendly toward us as a group.

Ditto and since this is a sociological look at a new phenomenon i.e 'bronies' you have to wonder if being thought of a subject is really what you want, I mean answering questions about your psychological make-up and for free.

Nope.

Nope.

See my post above you. The stated purpose of the study is public.

Already saw your post, my points are still valid.

Except this

mean answering questions about your psychological make-up

I understand your reluctance to talk to someone regarding a media / fandom / cultural survey - but as someone who has spend hours talking to them - I want to make sure that the facts are known to whomever is interested. What you posted was not a fact.

You are telling me you spent hours talking to them and they did not ask you a single question relating to your psychology.

We both know that isn't true.

The clinical answer to your question is no. It would be inappropriate, unethical, and illegal based on both CA State Law, the Institutions Department Charter, a violation of the APA to conduct a psychological assessment in the manner in which you are assuming. At no time did the study approach the questions of mental health, personality, or involve any of the standard assessments that are approved, taught, and administered by a licensed and credentialed mental health professional. This is an accredited institution with grant funding. Please be careful not to be libelous.

Sociology man, Sociology. You confused two different sciences.

This is not the place to have this debate. Perhaps a new topic on Brony and Media studies might be sufficient. Understand that my only agenda here is to make sure that all people who may have an interest in taking part in this study are given clear and correct information.

As Jeric pointed out, this study isn't a psychological one, it's a sociological study.  Where psychology focuses on researching the individual and the mind, sociology focuses on studying groups and communities from a social standpoint.  Because of this, a sociological study isn't particularly interested in what an individual in the group looks like, they are instead interested in things like what the group is, why the group exists, what the group's effect on society at large is, and what attracts people to this group.  Asking psychological questions just isn't something relevant to what they're trying to learn in this study.

I'm not debating you. Sociology and psychology are clearly related scientific fields, that is simply fact. Stating otherwise just serves your agenda in this context and that is why I have nothing more to add.

  • 4 weeks later...

True; however, the current results will not be posted yet, but the psychologists studies are found in the other sections of that website; and the two studies are going to be linked into one major study....which is what I was hoping to present, and failed at...you have my apologies.

Hm?  When I met with Dr. Literte she was unsure how the research would be used and she definitely didn't seem to be planning any collaborative effort with the Brony Psychologists.  May I ask where you heard that the two projects were going to be linked?

Sorry for the late reply, but I have confirmed that the website you found is not at all affiliated with Dr. Literte's study.

As this took place over the summer, I'll be wrapping this topic up. If any future information arises regarding this study that needs to be shared with the community at large, a new announcement will be posted about it.

Thank you to everyone who participated! :D
