What do you guys think of the trailer for the new Spongebob movie? I used to love Spongebob and I thought the first movie was awesome. After that the show went downhill, in my opinion. It looks like they could maybe pull this new movie off but I'm not really a fan of the animation about halfway through the trailer. I really don't know what to think.

spongebob went garbage after the movie they had plans of ending it there when Spongebob became the Krusty Krab manager but instead new writers adopted it and ruined it completely I think Spongebob should of ended all those years ago appose to what monstrosity it has become

Well like many many fans I think the show went downhill after the movie and I don't even have to say why since a lot of people have already said it. Howrver, that movie actually looks somewhat decent. Not a fan of the love action cgi parts (too much like that smurfs movie to me) but the animated parts like that tiny piano gag were actually kind of funny. I did hear that the creator is actually returning to work on this movie so this movie actually has a chance of being the best thing spongebob has had in a long time

It looks...interesting I'll give it that much. I stopped watching Spongebob years ago after it started going downhill, so I'm not too sure if I'll eventually see this. While the mixing of real life and animation has been done before, this lost me around the part they become human sized.

Yeah when I heard about the cgi I thought that it was going to be trash and couldn't imagine how they could pull it off successfully.I was quite impressed by how they did it.Even if the movie sucks I will still respect the technical aspect of it.

And every episode with Patchy the Pirate?

 

They go to the surface world often! Sure, they got attacked by seagulls that one time, when they were having some kind of Iron Pony competition with Sandy Cheeks, but they still go there more than a few times!

I was shocked when I saw the trailer, because it's the best thing Spongebob's been in for the past decade. I'm gonna go see it, and while I think it's too late to "redeem" Spongebob, I'll see what Mr. Hillenburg can do to fix the series.

I dunno how I feel about it... One side of me still loves Spongebob, while the other has lost hope... I'm going to see it though, since I am leaning on my Spongebob side because the old writers are coming back for the second movie...

I'll have to admit, I'm not going to say that this movie looks horrible because it looks kinda interesting but i think i would like it more if the movie was more based off the war bit near the start of the trailer.

I actually had mixed feelings on it. The normal animated part looks good but I thought the CGI part looked bad. I used to watch Spongebob all the time in the early to mid 2000's. But after Truth or Square, I slowly started to lose my interest in the series. Like a great number of Spongebob fans, I felt the series was declining in quality after a while. Many say it started going downhill after the movie but I thought it went downhill after Best Day Ever because most of the Season 4 episodes prior to Best Day Ever were Season 3 quality episodes. There were a lot of bad episodes and even the ones that weren't that bad and even a majority of the modern episodes that aren't bad were still meh. After Truth or Square I pretty much stopped watching Spongebob and Nickelodeon in general and moved on to Cartoon Network because I liked it a lot more. I did get back into Spongebob for a brief moment but after Spongebob, You're Fired, I pretty much lost hope on the Series and Nickelodeon. I'm going to see this movie and if it sucks, I'll completely give up on Spongebob and Nickelodeon in general.

I'll see it. Stephen Hillenburg is writing and producing it, so it might be good. I guess we'll have to see how it compares to season 1-3 and the first movie.

I remember seeing this trailer and WTFing for a good 5 minutes.

 

What happened to the good Spongebob? You know, Band Geeks, Frankendoodle, The Graveyard Shift, those kinds of episodes? Haven't seen anything that quality from this show in a long time, but since some of the original team will be working on this maybe this movie can redeem Spongebob. We will find out

The animation style seems similar to that of the old movie, so I'm kind of excited to see where this one leads. But still, I feel like Spongebob hit rock bottom (get it?!) around 2008, and they're really running out of ideas now. I hope they can make a comeback with this movie, and not continue with the terribleness of the newer episodes. We will just have to wait and see!

At first, my WTF meter was through the roof after I only saw an image. Then I saw the trailer and am now at the point of being hopeful, but not TOO hopeful.

I don't really know how to feel about it, honestly. I hope it's good, I really do, but then it really has potential to be a pile of shit. I'll probably see it, yeah. I just hope it's worth it.

yes the movie always had some dark humor plus do  kids really listen to motor head that was bad ass for the movie !  who knows maybe they have a plan for a live action Metalocalypse dethklok movie how crazy would that be ?

So this movie is coming out next week and I'm going to see it opening day. I have high hopes that it will be good but it could suck considering how Nickelodeon hyped up a lot of bad Spongebob specials especially Atlantis Squarepantis and Truth or Square. But it has an 8.1 on Imdb so if the rating on that website is high enough it could be a good movie. I'm actually liking the setting of the movie so far.

CGI version of SpongeBob Squarepants AKA the show that played a part of my childhood elementary school years? No thank you Paramount Pictures. The show's recent downfall doesn't help either.
