I will say he can be pretty funny and he can make some good points when debunking some mindsets in the fandom like the mindset that makers of fan animations think they can do better than the show can. Though when you look on his Tumblr, he can go into the SJW category.

I really hate how he treats his viewers like they're dimwitted 9-year-olds, but he does bring up some excellent points when it comes to his Glass of Water series. I especially couldn't agree more with his video on Tyrantlestia:

I think he can be hit or miss. I think his tyrantlestia vid is one of his best and it really points out some of the problems with this fandom, like taking headcanons that are pretty much non existant to the extreme. But i really don't like the stuff he does on his tumblr, acting like an extreme SJW.

I don't agree with a lot of his opinions but I do like the in a minute videos. I also like seeing arguments from the other side. I really don't like that he thinks that the last episode was one of the worst of s5.

I have mixed feelings for the guy. While I am not too crazy over his Glass of Water series, I can understand why it's well-received by other people. The fandom really is imperfect. But I do enjoy his other videos, like his 1-minute videos and his Disney videos.

 

But on the other hand, I really think he isn't that great on Tumblr. He doesn't do much harm on Youtube, but on Tumblr, he acts like a pretentious SJW. I suppose part of the influence of his attitude comes from a much worse SJW known as PinkiePony, but it still doesn't excuse how rude he can be at times. But then again, his haters are no better.

 

Even if he does act like an annoying user on Tumblr, I do think it's safe to say that there are much, much worse people than Jerry.

He makes some decent points in most of his videos and he has apologized or changed his opinion. I do not fault him for his content moderation ... his private account ... his decision ... not a violation of free speech.

 

Personally I would read more YouTube comments if they were screened more.

Can't stand the guy. I find that he acts like a smug, arrogant jackass who patronizes and insults his audience. He acts like his opinions are fact and anyone who criticizes him is wrong and goes as far as to insult the audience on their taste.

I agree. He also acts like a total SJW and he even wrote what I believe is the MLP version of Fifty Shades of Grey.

I don't like him. What Jerry dose in nearly every video he makes is try to push his own morals on his viewers while making massively sweeping generalizations (often offensive or disrespectful ones) on everyone who disagrees with him. He makes these generalizations and usually alienates any viewer who has an opposing viewpoint because of how aggressively forceful he is of his own ideas, making him very easy to hate. He has tried to censor people in the past and avoid debate.

 

I used to be subscribed to him and like him. Once I saw his true colors, I realized that he is not worth watching and just off in own bubble of solitude. Jerry Peet is the kind of person who has his head so far up his own ass that he can't hear anyone else nor dose he want to. Those kind of people never change.

So basically, if you like The Living Tombstone or anything he dislikes, you have poor taste and if you say that it's good in your opinion and taste is subjective, you're factually wrong. You have bad taste because he said so!

 

Now here's a video that kind of contradicts what he's saying as he supports poorly written, overpowered characters! But you can't say they're Mary Sues! Those don't exist!!

I saw his video about top MLP songs and thought it was good, and I agree with him when he compared Lauren Faust to George Lucas, though that's really the only positive stuff I can say about him. What I don't like was how he went about with that awful review of Team Fortress 2 and its reception, and how he acted when he collaborated with Josh in the episode review (parts of it), it rubbed me the wrong way. He just seems like a prick who thinks he knows more than others and that questioning him gets you insulted/censored. He just doesn't seem like a great person overall and appears to cause needless drama. And I swear he wants to have a differing opinion just because - at least from what I've seen of him.

 

That said, could anyone explain to me what makes him seem like an SJW? I think I have some idea why, but I was wondering someone could describe it in more detail.

his top 10 list is just an opinion. I can understand that you don't like him, but that shouldn't be projected on his choice for the worst off the show.

I actually enjoy her "in a minute" videos and she does point out a few things that I would agree with while other times she will say things I DON'T agree with. At times, she can be a little too smug for his own good and I get confused in how he addresses the Bronies as if she isn't on herself?

 

The best thing I like about her is that she isn't afraid to prety much call things as they are. I'm aware not many fans like him because he does have a tendency to berate the brony community and point out their faults...and no one likes it when they are being called out. Even if I'm guilty by a few things he says, I'm mature enough to accept the truth IF what he says is true.

 

So basically....I have mixed feelings. But no matter what I agree or disagree with, I still respect his opinions.

 

If people would look past hating what he says and actually consider or at least try to understand his perspective, there wouldn't be such a war within the fandom now. And that's me speaking in general. Sometimes I think too many people get irritated just because they have an opinion they isn't famous within the community. You say one thing, but they take it personally and hear something else.

 

Sometimes Jerry can be aggressive when he's expressing his thoughts though and he should work on that. and I heard she isn't the best on Tumblr but honestly....who is?

I can't stand her*, and she doesn't deserve an ounce of support.

1. She tries to equate objectivity with being smug and demeaning. You can try to be matter-of-fact and absolutist without treating your audience like simpletons. David Ker (a now-part-time brony reviewer) understands this. Jerry doesn't. In fact, many of her views come across as contrarian just to stir up the fandom in the name of being objective, like naming Breezies the best episode of FIM despite its exposition issues and Best Night Ever as one of the worst for not being as boisterous and exciting despite the narrative being much tighter than the rest of the finales.
2. As a person, she's an SJW. In trying to demonstrate societal issues, she makes sweeping generalizations of the fandom and fervently supports PinkiePony despite being shown evidence that PinkiePony is a massive fraud (campaigned to take down Down with Molestia when she drew foalcon). On top of that, to try to make herself look better, she created sockpuppets on Derpibooru, only to be outed (and possibly banned). Like PP, Peet tried to cover her tracks by making her Tumblrs appear inactive to the mods but not anyone else, a violation of policy, and she got banned.
   
   I fully support calling out social injustice, (unfortunate) implications, sexism, etc. But she doesn't practice what she preaches, encourages stereotypes, insults contrary opinions just to bolster her "pundit" personality online, and is "my way or the highway" in everything FIM-related.
3. She keeps her comments one-sided to prevent disagreements from showing up. Sure, she claims it's mostly idiots who posted there, but how can we believe her if she doesn't attempt to prove it? I support comment moderation, but she abuses it.

*In a past video, she came out as a transwoman. I fully respect her her right to her gender identity, but not her attitude.

I agree on a majority of his opinions and I enjoy most of his content, but he goes way overboard with some things. He completely denies the existence of "social justice warriors" (I prefer to call them nut jobs) yet there are TONS of screenshots on the internet of people on tumblr straight up circlejerking about how much they hate men and straight people.

 

And in a recent video he mentioned "cyber terrorists" which at that point I just stopped watching the video. He really compares cyber bullies to people that are murdering innocents, destroying history, and cutting off peoples' heads like barbarians? smh. The video straight up opened with him just talking about DA CYBER BULLIES! I almost think he was TRYING to stir the pot, and it made me lose a lot of respect for him.

I'll admit, his MLP in a minute series is pretty funny. So I wil say he's a pretty good comedian.

 

That being said though, once he starts talking about his moral values and opinions in his Glass of Water videos, he comes off as smug and elitist. Basically, if you like anything he doesn't, you have poor taste and should feel ashamed. The way he states his opinions comes off as very alienating. He also comes off as very hypocritical seeing as he'll call out people for slander on Tumblr, while slandering the person.

 

I really got a taste of how bad he was when I read through his Tumblr. It's a mix of

SJW crap and him flaunting his ego around.

While I use to be a big fan of his, or I suppose now hers I honestly can't even watch the In a Minute series. She goes out of her way to make sure her channel is an echo chamber, it's her option or no option. She blocks and deletes post she doesn't like.

 

All you have to do is read his "Ways to Fix the Internet" post from back int 2012 to see how messed up she is.

I use to watch her videos whenever they came out, even commented on a few. The "In a Minute" video was fun, but then the "Glass of Water" videos started, which are just full of highly bias option which is fine, but it started to get pushed into the "in a Minute" videos. Then she started to block and delete comments she felt was "un-needed".
