How and when did you become a brony?

Alright, well I have no idea if I have posted my story before, so if I have, here it is again.

 

It all started in December of 2011. I was heading for a cruise, and you know, needed something to do. So I decided to bring along a few magazines for the few hours ride to get there. Well the magazine happened to be GameInformer, you know that popular gaming magazine. I had already been though it multiple times, but this time, something caught my eye. It was some reader who was defending MLP. I had know idea what it was about, as I had yet to here about bronies. Even after reading it I had no idea what a Brony was, so when we got back from the ship, I did a little research, and found out. I watched a few episodes, didn't think anything of it, and went about my business. That was in January. Fast Forward a few months, to the time where I grew insanely depressed. After looking thought the magazine for the billenth time, just to see those ponies, I decided to give the show another shot. So I rewatched the first few episodes, and had fallen in love with the ponies this time. After watching though season 1, I had become a brony. This was in early April I believe.

I became a brony in I think the end of May 2012. I was watching my friends play minecraft and one of my friends said that some guy on the server was a brony and asked her what that was. She explained it and I was like "Who would watch My Little Pony" but I was to curious and I watched the first episode then the next, then the next I was instantly hooked. That day changed my life forever.

I watched the first few episodes in September 2011 and liked it, so I suppose that's when I became a brony. I only actually got around to watching more than those initial few episodes recently though, around May this year.

I just became a brony some time last month. I got a friend on Xbox Live who was a brony and of course back then I was a dick who believed in everything that haters had told me about MLP so i told him he was gay and the show was stupid. He asked if I had actually ever seen an episode of MLP and reluctantly I said no. So he convinced me to watch an episode and I liked it to much. I've been a brony since!

I saw the video Death Battle, between RD and StarScream. Specificlly the part where they show Rainbow Dash training Apple Bloom in karate.

 

It reminded me of Ying Yang Yo, a show that I fucking LOVED. So I decided to give it a try. I'm pretty sure it was back in September (2011), but I never really got into it untill May, when I discovered the fandom :3

In March, I first became interested in the show when a YTPer I subscribed to started doing MLP-based poops. I was intrigued, so I looked it up and my obsession with the show was born when I saw my first clip of the show: Discord's introductory scenes.

 

Things seemed to be going well...but then...

 

I was obsessed with Minecraft, you see, and I was afraid of how I was losing interest in Minecraft as I gained interest in MLP. So I decided one fateful day to settle it with a coin flip. Heads I become a brony, tails I forget everything and attempt to suppress my interest.

 

The coin landed tails.

 

For 3 grueling months I was tortured by my pact to ignore the obsession in the back of my mind, until in June, I couldn't take it anymore and I broke my promise and accepted happiness into my heart.

 

Since discovering you guys, I do not regret tbat decision one bit.

i got into the show January 2012. i dont really remember what drove me to watch the show, but the second i heard about it i decided to go watch an episode. i ended up loving it and ive been obsessing over it ever sense

For me, I know I saw some pony-related stuff before it, but the first thing remember seeing was either a ponified version of a character from my favorite Final Fantasy game, or a web page I searched up to see who "Derpy" was.

 

Then not much later I joined a fairly small forum community where many of the members had ponies as their profile pic or in their signature. After that I was like "hmm, there must be something good about this show that makes so many people like it." So I looked it up at Know Your Meme and read about it there.

 

After that I searched down a video of the first episode, and with an open mind I hit play (although I made sure nobody else was watching me ). At the beginning where they're telling the story of Celestia and Luna I actually was thinking "wow, this is actually kind of awesome!" Then I watched till the end of the episode and immediately hit the Next Episode button. I then realized how quick I was to go to the next episode and shook my head, slightly embarrassed at myself. However I don't regret it, and soon I just downloaded all the episodes to my computer to watch them. This was all a couple weeks before the end of season 2.

 

So after that I've been hooked on the show ever since! What about you guys?

Well I had seen some photos and what not before and heard the craze about it from a friend, I didn't really take much notice and thought it would be something I wouldn't enjoy to much. Then my friend showed me some music and I got rather interested...and then...he showed me Dashie and I was sold instantly hahaha

I looked it up in the summer of 2011 because I wanted to see why all these tough metalheads on last.fm had pictures of pink little ponies as their avatars. That was the first pony thing I saw.

I was expecting it to be a stupid children's show with no depth or interesting characters, and wow was I wrong! But at the beginning of the first episode, during the story of how Luna got banished to the moon, I thought the whole episode was going to be girly and cheesy as hell. But, nope, it wasn't.

You want to know how did I became a brony? Well, that's how it started: I was zapping through channels in my tv. Suddenly, there were ponies in the television. I looked one straight in the eyes! And then, my blood became ponydependant. >:3

(During the rest of the story keep in mind that I had never seen the show and had pretty much listened to what haters said) I told him that I would never watch it because it was for girls and was childish. I took back everything I said to my friend and that's how I became a brony!

I looked it up in September 2011 since I'd seen lots of pony stuff previously, thought it would be hilarious to tell my friends I was a "brony" who watched a show for little girls. I figured I'd at least have to watch one episode first just to see if it was as terrible as I was thinking, but it turned out to be much better than expected and I became a legitimate fan.

Hmmm... the first pony related thing i saw was a picture of the show, u know the one with all six of them and celestia. And then OCS of my two favorite guys and youtube.

What caused me to watch it? Youtube comments surprisingly. Even more surprisingly a flame war. (at the time i didn't know they were fighting about it)

Then i watched the first episode. This was before Hasbro and fake Hasbro starting there attack on pony vids on youtube so all of season one was availiable easily. As i watched the story with Celestia and Nightmare moon i was intrigued. Thing is i had such low expectation for the show that as soon as i saw Twilight reading the book. My mind was equalling blown. The animation and colors made me go... woah. I couldn't help but watch more. Then the next ep. And the next ep. And the next... yeah u get the idea heheh.

After that I watched Epic Wub Time which made me watch both two seasons and decide my favorite ponies Octavia and Vinyl Scratch, but mostly Octavia.

 

Though I would've never known about this show until I met awesome bronies.

The very first brony related thing I came in contact with was actually someones youtube page, it had ponies on it, and to be honest, I really wasn't interested, fast forward a bit to when I stumbled upon the know your meme video about MLP, that's when I actually started watching it.

 

And you know the rest, I'm so glad I decided to watch it.

I actually heard of bronies through memes, but now that I recall, the real reason I become a Pegasister/Brony is because of Deviant art.

 

When I had a Deviant Account, I kept seeing these pony gifs everywhere. Pinkie Pie, laughing, Rainbow Dash flying. I thought they were cute, but I would never watch the show. It looked too ridiculous. Then, out of curiosity, I decided to watch the show one day. My thoughts about the first episode was that it would probably be cheesy and stupid like Dora the Explorer.

 

Boy, was I wrong. The show was cute, fun, and I even found myself chuckling at some of the jokes. It felt like a real show, instead of a show made for six year old little girls. It always made me cheer up to watch more of the episodes. Even the songs were amazingly written.

 

I'm glad I became a Pegasister, and I'm glad I like ponies (And Pokemon too, of course!)!

I had seen ponies over all over internet and I looked it up a little to understand what it all was about. Didn't really catch my interest, but then I knew more about it. Then I started to watch some small clips on youtube, Fluttershy really caught my interest since I often fall for the timid and shy types, though I still didn't start following the series.

 

During this time, I had a lot of personal issues and wasn't at my most happiest mood so to speak, and one day when I felt rather miserable I found a video on youtube with an full episode, I believe it was the one when they told about their cutie marks. It made me happy and I admitted I liked it, but didn't call me a brony/pegasister. Then I saw the video Ballad of the Brony, and said "what the hay, I am a Pegasister!" and started watching the series from the start.

What set the seeds of curiousity for me was user created content. The minecraft mod first grabbed my attention, then I started seeing really great artwork. Then, it was only a matter of time before my curious nature got the better of me.

 

I had seen ponies around the internet before, but it was ultimately the massive dedicated fanbase that drew my curiousity. That question of why was answered upon watching episode 1.

Art, art, and lots of art. Searching through Deviantart and such places, I started seeing that some of the artists I normally check, started drawing pony stuff. And it started appearing even more. Then, of course, my reaction was "What the hell...?", and thoroughly resisted myself to checking just WHY people were drawing said stuff. I said "okay, that's awesome" and moved on. And this went on for months ever since July last year. Of course, my curiosity is something I RARELY beat, and this was no exception. By October, I finally receded into my curiosity. Watched the first episodes, and said "Okay...this isn't bad at all...", but I wasn't still fully convinced. After "The Ticket Master" and "Applebuck Season", I became very interested, and after "Bridle Gossip" and "Feeling Pinkie Keen", I was sold XD. I just checked art, then I strted seeing more and more things, especially through Equestria Daily, and declared "Eeyup, I'm a brony". And I'm so freaking proud and happy that happened =).
