What Intelligent species in MLP so far and what not?

I know cats,pig and turtuls are not (Pets)

but Dragon and caws are ..

Did any one make a list of that ?

There're so many species in MLP:FiM... That would be a huge list.

The problem is that some of them are ambiguous, for example: dogs. (Winona and the Diamond Dogs)

Well, how does one define intelligence? How do ponies, driffins, and deer (comics) compare with others?

 

It sounds simple, but it is fairly complicated to define.

I haven't really noticed a pattern for intelligent life.. So it's hard to say..

It's obvious that I think anything with hooves will be intelligent.

The diamond dogs were maybe made by the everfree forest? Maybe they use to be normal dogs.

Just as we are an evolved version of apes, so the Diamond Dogs are an evolved version of dogs.

Apply the scheme where required.

 

How much water does this version hold? I don't know. But it sounds reasonable enough for me to stick with it

Buffalo (Over A Barrel), Zebras, Griffon, Minotaur & Goats (Iron Will's assistants),  Cows & Sheep (1 episode where AJ & AB were herding sheep & they said something like "you could have just asked"), Mules & Donkeys.

 

Doesn't get into "How smart are Windigos?"  Also, there is a question of "How racist are the ponies to other species? Are they equal citizens or what?"
