spoiler Intent to Kill

What am i talking about?

In the last scene with Starlight Glimmer there was a point where she was so mad at the others that she literally "pulled the trigger" on the group of ponies whith such furiosity that there was every bit of "Intent to kill" in its magnitude, and had it not been for Twilights shield... Well you know... Kids show

This moment ushers in a new and darker area for FIM (and a territory i was happy to see)

While they have "skirted" the darkness side this was the first instance with a non superfide ordinary character, and even with the super DBZ fight between Tirek and Uber-Twilly, I never got that impression of "Intent"

Hell, i never got that impression when NMM zapped Celestia while shouting for her distruction. (Probably because we already knew the outcome of that fight)

But here, with no future knowledge (other then... You know... Kids show) one basic character intended physical harm on another.

At least thats my theory

Oh, I interpreted that scene as Starlight trying to remove their cutie marks all at once. The spell was stronger because she was channeling emotion into it and because she needed more magic to change that many ponies. You could be right though. :nom:

How could you not? Tirek was obviously in it to the death, and Twilight clearly showed no indication that she was pulling punches. The intent to kill was most certainly there. From both of them.

It could have been, but the way it reflected off Twilights sheild, the conentration of power and the length of activation time tells me otherwise

When she absorbed the magic it would surrounded the character

This acted like the beems that caused the the bridge to explode

Maybe, but they were both super powered at the time so no punches were held, but ultimately Tireks goal was to absorb her power not to kill and Twilight was just trying to stop him Edited by Argumedies

Well, NMM had every intention to kill Celestia (and Twilight was sure convinced she was dead), Celestia had every intention of taking out Chrysalis, and Tirek & Twilight had every intention of blasting each other off the face of the world.

But yeah, it's an interesting case with Starlight as she was targeting a group of her former followers. Unless Twilight was there they would've been dead.

It's not the first time a villain/antagonist tries to kill someone.

However I don't think she was attempting to remove their cutie marks, seeing how angry she was I think it was just a beam. Plus I don't think she can use her spell on several ponies at once.

Right before Twilight's cutie mark first got taken away, she looked like she was going to blast Starlight good, but wasn't quick enough on the draw. It looked similar to when she was fighting Tirek. I definitely think there was intent to hurt/if not kill. I think Starlight definitely had harmful intentions near the end by the caves also.

Rainbow Rocks... at least how it could've looked... in a stranger, more interesting dimension

For those who are wondering, Twilight is chewing bubble gum.

Considering there are some light spoilers in regards to a certain scene in the OP I'll put a spoiler warning on this. Sorry for the inconvenience. :)

When Twilight announced it was a trap, I thought she was trying to muster the power to teleport all of her friends out of the cave. Later, I did get the impression that Starlight was attempting to kill those that dared stand against her.

This isn't the first time that a villain has directed ungodly harm at one of the cast.

Again, I point to Trixies overall charcter, her anger in this was the pervbial showboating. She may have had the thought, but she didnt have the will. For all her guff, she is not evil which was why she saw the good side so easily

Trixie wouldnt hurt a fly imho no matter how mad she was.

When Starlight fired her beem in anger, there was absolute malace in her expression.

Starlight had both the power and will to cause harm

Trixie's personality was altered by the Alicorn Amulet. In the episode, it seems to take her a bit to snap out of it.

It may not have been intent to kill, but she definitely wanted to hurt them. I don't think she was after cutie marks. At that point, there'd be no convincing those ponies to follow her again.

Plus I don't think she can use her spell on several ponies at once.

She used her spell on the rest of the mane six at once after Twilight was taken out.

Well, the kind of magic that can remove another pony's cutie mark must be extremely powerful. But I also got the impression that Starlight intended to seriously hurt or kill them with that particular spell.

You beat me too it! This is just a reflection of what happened in that episode.

We just don't notice it a whole lot because it does not happen often. Also does not happen with strong characters often and Starlight Glimmer is REALLY powerful!

You ponies ever notice how any character who's name has to do with stars like Sun, Celestia, Twilight,Sunset etc. Are all REALLY powerful?!

Any space related name is a powerful character. Ever notice that?!
