S5 Premiere Makes News On Mainstreem News Site 'The Federalist'

It is a very interesting read, and the allegory fits. I'm glad MLP is getting more attention in places where it would normally be ignored or ridiculed, but I still stand by the fact that this episode, despite all the political references and people repeating words like "Communism" and "Marxism" and "Stalinism", can stand for any totalitarian regime in history or any doctrine which destroys individuality. MLP isn't leftist or rightist. It just stands up for what's right.

I didn't read the whole article.  I skimmed it, and I liked what saw.  I love that MLP is getting attention for being bold, brave, and having some very serious plots and themes and the like.  It stands out as a great show, and deserves that kind of recognition.  I'll probably puruse the article later, but the pizza just arrived, so I'm sure y'all can understand me keeping this brief and rushing off.  Bye!

I've never heard of this site.  When you said "Mainstreem" (sic) I thought you were talking about something like CNN or Yahoo.  Even worse, the author hasn't done his homework about Marxism.

Oh well, at least his heart's in the right place.

Seems like a pretty good read. While the episode does not perfectly represent communism and stuff, I think it sort of represents a lot of 1984 a bit more in some of the everyone is the same boat.

The only difference is that there is no upper class and everyone but glorious leader is in the lower teir.

I don't think CNN or Fox will be doing a story on this though.

That's a very good article, eventhough i still stand it has nothing to do with communism.

I think it's good that it gets the attention it deserves, because this episode really did something very brave and actually did something, that i even never expected. This episode was a big middle finger for everyone that thought, that the writers are running out of steam.

I just don't want the episode getting banned.

I don't think that's likely to happen, nor did I think the article stated it.

The good is that MLP made an intelligent, discussion-provoking episode, and it got attention on a site in a community where most wouldn't even think to see MLP mentioned. In fact, many people state in the comments, in between all the political debates, that their opinion of the show has changed because of this episode.

The bad part about MLP making anything resembling a political statement is now every side of the political spectrum is going to claim the episode and MLP as their own and divide people even further. So, they've burned a bridge as far as being "pure and innocent" or "apolitical" goes, but maybe that was a bridge worth burning.

I must that is an interesting read, and I'm happy that the episode is getting such attention. Honestly, even after watching the episode I never expected that, so I am pleased with it. Also the various reader comments have largely been positive as well. :)

This is one of those moments that make me proud to be a Brony. However, I really didn't look at the episode the way most and "The Federalist" are pointing it out. I mean, I just watched and enjoyed the episode, didn't really think of the subliminal messages behind The Cutie Map. But one thing he said in the article, "I can't believe I'm saying this, but I hope My Little Pony sets a trend" just makes me feel so good inside. It's like since the writers know the show and the fandom is getting so big, they start putting more serious messages in their episodes. Like their own special little way of spreading friendship across the world.

Yes! The show is getting some attention.

All my life needed was a sense of someplace to go. I don't believe that one should devote his life to morbid self-attention. I believe that someone should become a person like other people.
