spoiler Would anyone be surprised to see a FNAF reference in MLP?

We've just seen Metal Gear referenced. The writers know the general type of people bronies are and will know of their vast presence in the internet world. The brony fandom will have a lot of mutuals with the FNAF fandom, is it just me who imagines the staff sneaking in a subtle reference somewhere.

Well, considering there was a slenderman reference in Pinkie Apple Pie, I wouldn't surprised.

Though, IMO, FNAF has overstayed it's welcome. One game was enough, and the first game was decent. but now there's going to be 4 games, and a movie.

Was that confirmed as a slenderman reference? I thought that was just people making out things. I agree that FNAF has become a little too big, not a fan of the third game because I don't understand how it works and there is definitely no need for a 4th game. I will go to see the movie, but with very low expectations.

It was absolutely a slenderman reference. 845087.jpg

Yeah ok, when I saw it on video the picture wasn't very good.

And here's a better example:

Well, in the season 5 two partner, there's a scene in which Starlight grinds her teeth angrily, and many have said the grinding vaguely resembles Springtrap's screech from FNAF 3

And truth to be told, they do sound a bit alike. But it may be just a funny coincidence rather than an outright reference.

FNAF 3 came out a month before this episode aired, I imagine most if not all audio recording for this episode was completed before then, and I doubt they'd change audio for an obscure reference.

I think the series became far too big than it deserved, but I wouldn't mind one reference, it's not like it'll make it MLP: FIM FNAF  :P

In that case, the video which claimed Springtrap's scream was hidden in the episode is totally a fakie

I'm pretty sure I'm the only FNAF fan here on this thread (the gold part of my name is based on Golden Freddy. Heh.) But even as a FNAF fan, I agree it's pretty overrated. But MLP is overrated too and no one cares about that. Irony at it's finest.

But anyways, being a fan of the games, I would love to see a small FNAF reference in MLP and I wouldn't be too surprised if that were to happen.

As for the Slender man reference, I've heard that Slenderman WASN't planned in the episode. Appartantly a animator put it in himself as a easter egg. Big surprise. I think it said because he was mad with the writers and/or Hasbro or something.

Though it's likely there'll be a FNAF reference. The FNAF fandom is almost bigger than the MLP:FIM fandom with countless fanworks such as fanart, cosplay, etc and Hasbro "adores" us as fans so all MLP fans who like FNAF (including me I guess) are likely to see one in the future perhaps.

Fandoms: MLP:FIM, 5 Nights At Freddy's, Gravity Falls, Vocaloid/UTAU, Steven Universe, Over the Garden Wall, Creepypasta, Littlest Pet Shop, Star Vs the Forces of Evil, Adventure Time, and many more.

Overall favorite fictional character is Dipper Pines from Gravity Falls.

I was very surprised that they added metal gear in MLP because we don't really see that many video game references in the show. But it would be pretty interesting to add FNAF in the show since there are a lot of pony videos involving FNAF.

At this point any pop-culture reference (pandering?) can happen. Hopefully something that is not just a crossover-interest stereotype like this. That would be excessive even for the comics.

First and foremost, most pop-culture references are for things from before a show began, not after. A Five Night's At Freddy's reference would be even more contemporary and stereotypical than TF2 or Minecraft in that regard.
