It matters the story or situation. My main OC is a unicorn but I have about three pegasus that I have made, two of which I have in my signature.

 

I have considered bring in my character Scarlet Beat, a skilled dancer and fighter seeking to improve herself to the point where she can meet her mother and fight her. Prove herself worthy of being called her daughter.

 

She could easily be an earth pony.

 

But if I had to choose I guess I wpuld pick unicorn sinc I play spellcasters of some sort most of the time.

Anyways, it's a tough choice, flight or magic? Being able to just take to your wings and fly would be... So amazingly spectacular. I mean, there's got to be nothing like it. I can only dream of it.

 

But then, magic? An entire arcane field that you can study and master? Teleportation, telekinesis, and so much more, with self-levitation to boot? I'd have to pick unicorn.

 

I mean, you can sort of get some sense of flight with hot air balloons, aircraft, or a kind, string-winged pegasus friend giving you a lift XP but there's really no substitute for magic.

Don't forget 90% of unicorns can only really learn and become good out magic related to their talent. More, most unicorns only know a few spell.

 

By picking unicorn does not mean you will be some all powerful mage with 100s of spells at your disposal.

 

Your more likely to have a unicorn that knows under 10 spells related to your talent, unlikely to count even Teleport.
