spoiler Episode 101 thoughts?

So with so much attention and hype being give to Episode 100, I sort of forgot there are another 17 episodes in the season after that. Anyways what are your thoughts on Episode 101: Princess Spike? 

 

A short synopsis from Zap2it as a refresher:

When Spike is put in charge of making sure nothing disturbs Princess Twilight, the power soon goes to his head and he begins making decisions in her name.

 

My thoughts:

 

Yeah not going to lie, this sounds a lot like another typical Spike episode and we all know how well those usually go over. Still might get to finally see some of Twilight's actual princess duties

That episode will show that spike is a massive control freak and his orders may ruin his friendship with Twilight and her friends. It may also bring Chaos into Equestria.

Season 5 was on a good run, and one thing I hoped to see out of it would be a good Spike episode that actually develops his character beyond screwing things up.

 

The setup sounds very uninspired as far as Spike episodes go, but I'm not downing it just yet. Spike having a desire to be in charge actually sounds like a good direction for his character considering who he's lived with his entire life. However, I'll only be impressed if it's not another one of those "Spike screws things up" episodes like "Spike at Your Service" and "Equestria Games".

I'm hoping it will be like what the CMC had in season 4; episodes that developed the characters beyond their cliches. Apple Bloom, Sweetie Belle, and Scootaloo really had a string of amazing episodes in season 4, and I have faith Spike will have one in season 5; especially considering the episode quality has been high thus far.

I am sorry guys. I am usually one of the more positive ones, when it comes to previews. But this sounds so boring and uninspired. The least i can say is, that it won't be as bad as Spike at your service.

Yeah I was hoping that it would involve Spike actually like possessing Celestia's body or something interesting like that. Also I can already point out a big plot hole, why are the....I don't royal servants listening to the word of a dragon and blindly following it without question?

It's basically going to be like "Secret of my Excess," but with Twilight instead of Rarity and power instead of money.

As someone who feels that Spike is a far deeper character than how he is presented on the show, I'm pretty irritated. While he is mostly independent, he will still support Twilight to his very last breath, so the notion that he would exploit her like the episode suggests just makes me shake my head.

Sounds pretty simple, Spike gets a lot of (political) power, abuses it, screws up, and the Mane 6 (some or all) have to resolve it. It's the typical Spike episode formula.

I mean, it may be cool seeing what some of Twilight's duties are, but apart from that, it sounds like it'll be a little bland. I just want to get the 100th episode out the way first...

I can see this episode going two ways. One is Spike learning a lesson on how hard princess duty is in a lighthearted way and two Spike getting constantly abused for it like in Just for Sidekicks.

I don't think it's a good idea to compare it to the 100th episode.  Also in my mind this is the real 100th episode.

I honestly sleep through every spike episode, I might just rewatch 100 than watch this one /:

Spike is my major gripe about this series.

I find him to be an annoying, dull character, and I don't think he's cute at all.

Pretty much this. The episode synopsis sounds boring but I hope it has some funny scenes or the plot isn't overly predictable.
