The Forums Staff - A Music Album (WIP)

Hey everypony! So recently I decided I needed some form of inspiration for songs, so I decided as a last resort to look to the forums! I'm going to be making a fan-made album that has a theme song for each moderator, with a planned medley at the end. Each moderator has a main instrument, and that instrument is what will be their solo in the medley. Here are the instruments chosen by each moderator and staff.

 

Colour key:

Green - Active Moderators

Red - Resigned

 

Zoop: Hammered Dulcimer - Theme is Complete

Swoop: Harpsichord (Picked by me) - Theme is Complete

Arylett: Piano - Theme is Complete

Apple Bloom: Mandolin

Klopp: Synthesizers (Sawtooth square etc) - Theme is Complete Redoing This One.

Nico: Clarinet

Neikos: Theremin

Kyronea: Cello

Chaotic Discord: Synthesizers - Theme is Complete!

Captain Equestria (ThereIsNoSpoon): TBA

Auriety: Violin

NewCalamity: Brass (Military)

Tich: Violin - Theme is Complete

Jonke: Ocarina, Flute - Theme is Complete

Feld0: "All of the instruments!" (Orchestra) - Theme is Complete (And it's great!)

Kurtiss: Flute/DoubleBass - Theme is Complete

Scootacool: Trumpet, (Jazz Style!)

Staff Theme Medley: All the instruments. Really this time.

 

^Did i forget anyone? Anyway, I would really appreciate it if the moderators i don't have an instrument for yet could tell me what they would like, and what style of music they want, or if they want me to just think of something.

 

Example of my work: Frozenfire.bandcamp.com (These songs are not my latest. There is a few new songs meant for an upcoming album that are FAR better.)

 

So what do you think of my idea?

 

EDIT: Quite a few of the staff have left since this project began. Whether I will still do the theme's I promised for them is something I will have to think about, but those that have themes already completed will have there themes included in the finale. (The huge orchestrated medley of all themes.)

 

A couple new additions MIGHT be a possibility, such as our new global moderators and good ol' scatcoal.

 

Here are the themes in order of how they were completed.

Because IPS is being annoying, I'll just post where you can find ALL of them.

Keyboard would essentially be an electric piano. Not much different from a normal one.

 

Haha, i was wondering who might suit a synthesiser. I have some great stuff to use, and this should hopefully be a great chance for practice.

Oh, I like this idea. I think my instrument of choice would be a Clarinet. Looking forward to hearing these.

Well live recording is best pony. As it really makes the music stand out more and have that emotional touch you can't put in.

Some of my soundfonts and intrument providers have out of tune violins. >.< Thus it may be better to use a real one.

That said, I am willing to bow to Tich and give him the violin and instead be satisfied with the cello.

The reason there have been no songs yet: I am getting the feel and style for these instruments, because I have never used them before. x) I have done some improv work on the Hammered Dulcimer and will likely have Zoop's done first. I just need to extract some tunes from the improv file and then i'm off.

 

Swoop's theme is officially complete! After a long time of swoop having no idea what to do for his theme i finally picked one for him myself. Swoop's instrument is the harpsichord, and i have always loved that instrument and found it very easy to follow the style of. Thus I was able to finish this one first even though it was the last one I got.

 

(having bandcamp upload issues. Seems to be norton blocking my upload. I'll find a way around it.)

 

Screw it until i get it working i'll just use the forums upload feature.

Klopp's theme is complete! After a long time Klopp finally decided on an instrument and I got right to work using one of my favourite instruments. (I'm basically completing the themes based on how much I like the instrument and how fun it is to compose. )

EDIT: This is no longer going to be Klopps theme. It did not turn out satisfying for me, or Klopp. I didn't like how it sounded far less professional and whole in comparison to the others.

Hurray! Arylet's theme has been finished! Thanks everyone for your support and brohoof's are greatly appreciated. My next target to finish is Zoop and Tich's themes.

I like the themes so far. Swoop's is pretty awesome. It sounds kind of like some fancy hoity mansion, which kind of emphasizes his elaborateness in speaking. His big fancy words and such. And Klopp's sounds like some video game FF airship theme for flying happily through the skies in a Super Nintendo game. Suits his pixely nature.

 

Though I must say that mine is my favourite thus far. I've listened to it several times, and it just gets my personality in a rather perfect way. It sounds very serious, determined, almost as if somebody's going on a big journey. It has that sort of drama inherent to myself. Yet it also has a touch of gentleness. It's really sort of beautiful. I'm not sure if it reflects my forum persona so well, but I think you've got me spot-on in music form.

However, there is one thing I am doing that may shock you. I am going to re-do Klopps theme. It's simply not as high quality and professionally done as the other themes so far. When I say re-doing I mean COMPLETELY re-doing. Different tune, and everything. The only thing the same is the instrument unless Klopp wants to change it.
